I really, really liked Trader Jan’s Archery, especially with the Groupon, $ 32 for two people, 1 hour coaching. Having never done archery, we had one of the most patient and engaging personelle go over all of the basics of recurve bow archery and he even let us stay almost 2 hours since we waited just 25 minute to be placed. The rental bows were in decent conditions, our private lane was dedicated for just us, and we were able to hit the target consistently by the end of the date. For non-groupon users, I believe that that each hour is about $ 20 on normal days, and $ 10 on Tuesdays. There is also a $ 25 for $ 50 coupon on Unilocal.Tues/Sat are the busiest. I will say that the décor with the Native Americans may offend some, but I thought it was fairly benign.

My wife and I went here once using a groupon. We had a good time. The staff was friendly and were close by offering tips regarding shooting techniques.

3.5 stars. got a Groupon for this deal; seems that they do deals on their own all the time as well, so keep an eye out. people are friendly over there; the gentleman is a hunter and likes to share his stories(trying hard to vindicate the stigma of «hunting», which i can understand). appreciate the small talk but it gets lengthy at times. LOL the archery«lesson» itself was not as thorough as the other place i’ve been — maybe like he said he doesn’t like to «correct» people when there’s no right or wrong way, and since we seemed like we know what we’re doing, he’d leave us be. but from time to time we could use a bit of guidance and tips, you know. maybe we didn’t come in peak hours so the place wasn’t fully utilized, which is fine except that we(all participants, in different groups) soon became the ones calling«clear» on our own before we went and retrieved the arrows — one time we almost started walking when someone was still shooting — not something to expect from a place that puts safety on top priority. maybe they thought we’re all adults so they laxed up a little, but i’d get a little concerned when no staff is present and in charge in a place in which one can use the tools to be «weapons». overall an enjoyable experience; just that it’s a little far for us from where we are. would go back again comes the chance.

I went here with my daughter on 2÷1÷13 to look at bows as she has been expressing an interest for some time, and I wasn’t against the idea of shooting one again. The staff here was great, I explained that I hadn’t much of a clue about this stuff and they immediately suggested we just go into their range and shoot the bows, that way it would give my daughter an idea of what it was about.

Umm. good place. It was my first experience and as far as I consider archery, I enjoyed it. The young instructor was nice but the old guy was too rude. The things which he said could have been said in a nicer way. Believe me, I recently moved from New York and was not expecting this in Fall River, MA.

Having gone through a very relaxing round of getting holes poked in me(acupuncture), I thought what better way to while away an hour than to poke holes in something else in return. Hence my visit to Trader Jan’s. I’ve had an unrequited back burner interest in archery ever since learning about Pandaros’ bow in the 1st grade(ya, ya my inner super nerd just came out, don’t give up on me yet). A Groupon showed up one day, and boom, $ 10 bucks later, I was one step closer to understanding what Homer was singing about. The archery shop itself is on the second floor of an air-conditioned mill building. My Groupon was immediately scanned in and then I was off to a mini lesson and safety lecture and then off to target practice. An hour passes after what seemed like 15 minutes to me, the white bullseye is pristine(see photo) and my arms and shoulder muscles are sore. I would describe it more, but making thwip thwip thwip sounds by releasing an arrow from my bow #13 required so much concentration and was so relaxing I don’t remember much about it except after leaving, the worker bee told me that if I was interested in coming back, an hour is $ 20, ½ hour is $ 13, Tuesdays are half price and she has more Groupons offered on an on-going basis as well as the $ 5 off Unilocal deal for checking in(whoo whoo)! All in all, this whole archery thing is pretty relaxing and I’m daydreaming of making sounds that actually hit bullseye with a thump. thwip thwip thwip.

Trader Jan’s is a hidden sportsman’s gem in Fall River’s mill district and worth getting to for safe, quality archery practice. I used to shoot in middle school and after reading the«Hunger Games» books(I know, I know) I was caught by the archery bug again. Co-workers suggested Trader Jan’s to me as a good, affordable place to get back in the saddle(or on the bow?) and they were right. The first time we went, the husband and I paid for a half hour of shooting time and equipment rental and the owner made sure to give us a little safety/shooting run-through before letting us shoot on our own. While you certainly could just go out and buy and a bow, some arrows and go off into the woods to practice if you’re a newcomer to archery a safe environment with experienced archers is a must. Arrows can be be as dangerous when shot as bullets and if you don’t learn proper technique you’re as liable to hurt yourself as someone else. If you’re a more experienced archer Trader Jan’s can suit your needs too, of course, as they have ranges for more experienced shooters and a store for bows, arrows, and whatever else an archer might need for gear. If you’re curious about archery or an experienced shooter/hunter, Trader Jan’s is worth your time and money.
