This is the place for all your eyeglass needs! I recently visited Fairway Eye Center, and i have to say i was pretty impressed. The staff was extremely knowledgeable of their merchandise, i really liked the style of this pair of Oakley glasses but i wasn’t a big fan of the color and they were a little bit to wide for my face anyway. without even having to ask i was approached by one of the employees, and she addressed my two concerns over the pair, right off the bat she suggested we order the smaller frames, and even a different color to go better with my eyes. Thanks F.E.C. loving the new specs

I was a patient at Fairway Eye Center for 7 years, mainly due to the medical staff. The service has always been a little dismissive, I was always seen well after my scheduled appointment time, and it would always feel a little like waiting in a casting room with people trying out for the real housewives of Kansas City. During my last visit, the poor service finally trumped my loyalty to the doctors. First, they failed to process a rescheduled appointment so I wasn’t on the schedule when I showed up. Honest enough mistake, although when they have their schedule packed so tightly it’s not exactly easy to clear another 2 hours for another reschedule. Next, they told me that I was no longer covered by my insurance. Admittedly, I hadn’t paid much attention to my company’s new benefits so I didn’t know if we had switched providers. I told them I had my medica card, although I was informed it wouldn’t cover my «contacts appointment»(which is really just code for getting a valid contact prescription after a valid eye appointment). Instead of offering to do the appointment and bill my insurance after I had a chance to check on it, they instead insisted I just pay out of pocket for the appointment and contacts. I recognize that you can’t go giving free services away to people hoping that they’ll call back with insurance information, but I was a patient there for seven years and had spent thousands of dollars on care and eye glasses during that time. I’m sorry Fairway Eye Center, but having good doctors isn’t enough to keep patients.

I don’t go to the eye doctors here, only because I already had an established ophthalmologist. I can say that this place is awesome in getting you situated to be a fabulous four eyed trendsetter! They have an extensive selection of eyewear, from reasonable to extravagant! They are awesome at helping you stay in budget and in style. I have never had such an enjoyable experience shopping for glasses! An extremely friendly and knowledgable staff, a great selection and a lab that gets things done right — you’ll be seeing 20⁄20 after your visit here!

Our family has been going to Fairway Eye Center for years — we’re not the type to make changes — but we really should. The doctors are fine. It’s the customer service. The time before last, I waited for my glasses for a few weeks and when I called to see when they would be ready, I found out that they had forgotten to send them off(to Switzerland) and it would be another several weeks. This year, I waited 7 weeks, and after having heard nothing from them, I called, and they said they’d had them ready and waiting for me for 4 weeks! I said, «you’ve had them sitting there for 4 weeks, and you didn’t call me?!». The response was that the customer contact is handled by an automated system, and I was signed up to receive both a text and an e-mail. We verified that they had the correct contact info. I looked back through my texts — I could see my appointment confirmation, and 2 of my spouse’s apt confirmations, but no «glasses ready» text. No e-mail either. Even with automated notification, it seems to me, you see a pair of glasses getting dusty on the counter, you got to wonder who they belong to, and it would be appropriate customer service to call the customer(manually) and let them know. Poor.

I really like my doctor and I’ve seen others in this practice when she’s not available. However, before you see the doctor, you’re called into this tiny room where several tests are performed. Both times recently, for both my son and I, the woman in this room performing these tests was not very friendly. You’d think someone interacting with children would at least say hello to the child. She asked him to read some lines and seemed put off that he was taking longer to read them than she liked. After we left and were seated in the lobby waiting for the doctor, some time went by and she came out and told my son he did well, «Really, you did.» I thought it was awkward, like she knew she’d been borderline rude and was trying to make up for it. Between these interactions and the horrible location(tiny parking lot, busy intersection, cramped lobby), if it weren’t for my doctor, I would go someplace else.

My appointment was scheduled for 4 o’clock in the afternoon and my girlfriend and I showed up a few minutes before 4. After being shown to the coffee machine in the waiting area, we made ourselves a cup and sat down for not a very long wait at all. After my thorough eye exam, which was my first, I was escorted to the frame selection area. Chose a couple of pairs that not only fit my above average size dome, they also looked good. Sat in front of a young woman and she gave me a break down on both pairs as far as what my insurance covered for both, bi-focal, reading glasses only, etc. Whole doing this my girlfriend and I were talking about Cuban food and a gentleman that worked there looked up online and found us a restaurant that we promptly went to after my exam. Not only is Fairway Eye Center knowledgable about vision related things, you just might get a restaurant tip to a place that might turn into the best you have had in a while.

I’m sorry Fairway Eye Center, but I simply do not have 2 ½ hours to sit and wait for a scheduled appointment. Big turn-off. It is great inside, coffee and tea selections to peruse through and enjoy while you wait. Operative word-wait. Staff is pleasant which helps, however we will not return due to the long wait.

Welcoming and friendly. On time. Felt my exam was a bit rushed. 1st time for initial tests WEARING my existing glasses, usually other eye centers use naked eye. Has own parking. Easy in and out. No one tried to up-sell me… YAY! I held back the 5th star because lack of frames to choose from. They just don’t have the space for a larger selection.

If you want to go to a fancy eye center with a friendly staff and professional, capable doctors, this is the place for you. It’s conveniently located on SM Pkwy near the Plaza, Westport, Volker and NE Jo Co areas. It’s housed in an adorable little brick post-war ranch(I’m assuming), and is filled with fancy leather couches and an over-the-top single-serve coffee maker. I find the staff outgoing, sincere, competent and helpful. You don’t have to be a snooty, upper-middle-class type to feel comfortable going to this location. I’ve been in the waiting room while hearing the staff work diligently with a customer who was having trouble paying for her eyeglasses; they were calling area resources and found a way to get her a pair she afford, that day. I’ve never received a prescription that felt the slightest bit off, and they haven’t batted an eye(ha ha) when I’ve brought my babies in to my appointments. They even let me use the exam room after my appointment to breastfeed! Their online services are convenient, as well.

I would NOT go here! My first time in I waited almost 30 minutes in the waiting room,(and I was a 9AM appointment). I was told my glasses would be in in a week, and when I called 2 weeks later they said they were«on their way», a week later I called and was informed they didn’t even have my order form for the glasses. In order to compensate for their delay, they did upgrade my glasses to nicer frames, and promised they would be done the next day, which fell on a Friday. Of course they weren’t done, and I couldn’t get them until the following Tuesday. Now over 3 months later, I receive a bill saying I owe 20 for a co pay, I went into the office, where the lady at the front desk was extremely rude, and told me the receipt clearly showed I owed a $ 20 co pay not willing to go through the 168 dollars I had already paid, and look if their was a co pay in it. After calling my insurance, I was informed I only had one co pay(which I already paid), and did not owe anything. I called fairway eye center where I was just informed, that it was billed INCORRECTLY– and that they would write it off. The office is VERY disorganized, and disrespectful. Things got lost, and billing was done incorrectly. This has been nothing but a nightmare, and I have had to jump through so many hoops!!! With NOAPOLOGIES!

I «inherited» Fairway Eye Center; my previous eye doctor became part of the Fairway practice, and I went along. He’s since left, but I’m still going there all the same. Atmosphere-wise, the place is a little too Johnson County for me – fireplace in the lobby, with leather sofas and a Starbucks coffee machine.(I came here to get my eyes checked, not to whip out the laptop!) But, at the same time — the service and care are impeccable. During my latest appointment, I was seen quickly — taken care of quickly — and all with a smile and some TLC. The staff checked my insurance before I came in and noticed that it had changed — and were even willing to make some calls to determine just who my new eyecare insurance provider was. There’s a feeling of upselling there a little bit — it’s not unusual in an eye doctor’s office, but it’s still a hair annoying. They wanted to charge me for an astigmatism check(which the doctor ended up waiving the fee for because she thought it was super-necessary), and of course, there’s a retail eyeglass shop — why — 15 feet away from the screening room!(In fairness — they didn’t pitch a fit when I asked for a hard copy of my prescription so I could go elsewhere for my frames.) 4-stars means«Yay! I’m a fan» here in the Unilocal world. Couldn’t have said it better.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.. .. . More likely I can see clearly now my astigmatism is gone thanks to Dr. Bunde at Fairway Eye Center. Even more important, they have a delicious coffee maker in their waiting room along with the latest issue of People. Most visits, I don’t even get to enjoy these luxuries because they have me back in a room seeing the doctor so quickly.
