The hot chocolate was great. I don’t usually go to coffee shops but I was meeting a couple of friends there. The person making the drinks was very friendly and knowledgeable. The place was relaxing and inviting. The price was more than I expected for the size. There is only one size available.

This is where I go for my «good coffee.» This is the stuff I reward myself with on the weekend when I have the time to enjoy a fresh cuppa brewed in my French press without having to glugg it on way to work. I was introduced to Troubadour through a Groupon for one of their coffee tastings(which I highly recommend). I thought it’d be something along the lines of differentiating between an Americano and a latte, but boy was I wrong. Instead, you get introduced not only to how to really taste quality, black coffee, but how coffee is grown and processed. The customer service here is great. I’ve never had a bad experience. These people are really into their coffee, but there’s no judgement if you’re a Maxwell House drinker. Hey, we have to budget right? Everything is freshly roasted so you’re getting the best, freshest cup possible. I always have a bag of their coffee beans in my cupboard. If you drink coffee you have to go here.

I am torn. Oh, So Torn. I feel like I should give these guys a Good review, because they Try. They roast their own coffee, they refuse to use flavors and they’ll even make coffee in a siphon. And yet, I just wasn’t so impressed. I guess three stars is the happy medium, or more like the somewhat sad medium. My complaints here would be mainly aesthetic. I had my hopes up as I walked up to the building. It looked so charming from the outside, just a very pleasant old brick building. Once inside though, it looks like they quit trying. It was just a cluttered, low quality style; not somewhere I would love to go to all the time. Maybe they need to take a few lessons from their hip, trend-setting friends over at Rising Star and Pour. Not that the design of a coffee shop is the only thing that matters, but it helps tremendously with the experience. But I still had some hope for the coffee, although I was disappointed with the looks of the sub-standard espresso machine. I decided to play it safe with an Ethiopian pour-over. Hmmm, I thought. This stuff tastes a bit scorched. Definitely not the best coffee I’ve ever had, but then again, Far from the worst. In conclusion, I concluded that the man behind Troubadour concludes that coffee must be taken seriously, but apparently he doesn’t conclude the whole picture with much needed aesthetic details. Oh well, I’d give the coffee another chance, if I was in the area.

1. I was able to order and pay for coffee without hassle. 2. I consumed said coffee. 3. Coffee served the purpose intended and the product was of superior quality. These are the only factors that should matter. Thank you.

For the coffee purists! Freshly roasted and best flavors I’ve tasted! Owner was great at educating the differences in the blends and methods for the best quality!

I really wanted a treat this rainy Saturday morning and decided to try Troubadour coffee shop. It had only 2 reviews, so I didn’t expect much, thought I’d get a regular overly sweet cup of cappuccino and that’s fine. I ordered a cup of mocha. That was the best mocha I ever had. Not too sweet. And the top layer of frosted milk was not your regular foam. It was gooey, almost like melted marshmallow, very yummy. They have some treats to go with coffee, not many though: banana and pumpkin bread, Italian cake and some cookies. They really take time to prepare for you an awesome cup of coffee, so don’t come here if in a rush.

I bought a pound of one of his roasts one time and it completely blew away anything I’ve ever gotten from Rising Star. I also had a good espresso while I was there. I haven’t been back since, but I plan on buying more of his beans soon. A word to the wise, this is not your Starbucks candy-coffee shop, if that’s what you’re looking for you’re much better off finding one of those places. This is a place to go if you like the taste of actual coffee and want to enjoy the subtler aspects of coffee drinking.
