Amazing food. When you look around the establishment it’s not that appealing, but please… wait for the food before you make a decision. The service does leave a lacking spacd, hence the 4 stars. It took nearly 5 minutes for drinks and another 15 to order our food. However, the appetizers came out perfect(I recommend the crab ragoon, pork dumplings, and the shrimp bonnets). The food you can tell is authentically cooked. No deep fryers, but actual pan fried foods. Tradition favorites are delicious like Spicy general chicken, sesame chicken, lao mien, and fried rice. Other are also good like the garlic shrimp and the clay pots(if you don’t know what one is, try it!) And don’t forget the egg drop soup! I’ve gone here 3 times now within a span of 2 weeks. Nothing disappoints!

Stopped in at 9:25 on a Friday night as they were closing. I did not realize they closed at 9:30. They were incredibly hospitable and made sure I was comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. This is my new go to restaurant for delicious Asian cuisine. Bill Turturro

I went here for the first time today and Loved it! Their pork belly steamed buns were addictive! I live in Webster but plan to make the drive when I am in the mood for Chinese food… the best in Rochester!

Bistro Han is a little out of the way. Oh, it’s right in Fairport(on 30) but tucked in back of the plaza across from Wegman’s. If we hadn’t heard about it via word-of-mouth we probably wouldn’t have discovered this little gem. They have a great menu. Not as extensive as the every day«Chinese food» places but everything is very fresh and seemingly made to order. In three visits we’ve settled on favorites of hot and sour soup, spring rolls(fresh and fried), coconut shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken, and beef Lo Mien. The steamed buns are also very nice. Ok, so we basically have liked everything we’ve eaten there. They don’t always have everything on the menu — which is probably great because it means they’re not pulling it out of the back of the freezer! It was never overly crowded when we went(week day dinner times) which is good because there’s no wait but also want them to do well. It’s nice to have a good Asian food choice close by. We haven’t tried their take-out yet.

In town on business, so I tried this place for lunch. Ordered the pork belly buns and a spicy beef dish from the house specials. Overall very delicious, the pork belly buns are to die for, so glad I tried them. The main dish was very good too, just enough spice, and the beef was delicious and cooked well. Ordered green tea, and you get a whole kettle for yourself instead of a cup only, which I like. Décor is nice and simple, dark, open, and quiet overall. Great place to take friends or a date. Bathroom is clean and spacey which is a plus in my book. Good service too. There are so many delicious options to try, so ask your server what might be good to try, I’m glad I did. Would definitely hit this place again when in town.

This location is slightly smaller than it’s sister eatery on Monroe, and the overall ambiance is more intimate. In other words, dim lights to set the mood. The steamed buns selection is great. Still the same price of 2 for $ 4. If you are feeling like red meat, a braised beef option is available with scallion, shallots, peanuts, and pickles. There are more options for clay pots too. This time I went with the Chicken, Pork, and Shrimp(yesss all three!) w/mixed veggies in a brown sauce for $ 12. The restrooms are super nice, spacious and clean… with a proper lock I might add :-)

First time here and it wasn’t bad, the décor was simple, and it was very dark in there. I ordered pork belly buns which I also loved, but I was not a huge fan of these, it was mostly fat, and not crispy. Major disappointment. I also ordered the Ho Fein, which was excellent. It was good flavor and perfect tenderness to the noodles and beef. The menu was pretty extensive which is nice, I’d love to go back and try other options on the menu. But probably wont be trying the buns again :(

Definitely the best Chinese food in the area. I would recommend eating here for lunch because their lunch special is a great deal and comes with a large amount of food.

Compared to Han Noodle downtown, I feel somewhat lukewarm about Bistro Han. I’ve not been there for dinner before, lunch only. The downtown location feels like it’s one step above a total takeout joint and it works — the bare bones decoration and the cafeteria-style utensils. It’s no-frills dining and the prices reflect that. With Bistro Han, the prices are a little higher on the dinner menu but the portions seem smaller and the décor doesn’t quite make it into the«upscale» category. It feels like it falls just short in terms of quality and ambiance. The large television does seem a bit misplaced. One thing this place does have is variety — an impressive, broad selection of Cantonese, Szechuan, hot pot, noodle and Americanized Chinese dishes. The lunch specials are an excellent value, but twice I’ve found the flavors to be milder than its partner downtown and without the same smoky wok-hei that Han Noodle provides. At the end of the day though, it’s still perfectly good Chinese food.

Always great food! Their«spicy» is not tongue-destroying, which is nice. They warn you as if it will be, though. Dan dan noodles are amazing, every type of bun — pork, chicken, etc — amazing. Dumplings, amazing. Shanghai noodles, Singapore noodles — amazing.

Ohhhhhh, no! Dropping a star for consistency reasons. Since my first review I’ve eaten here 3 more times and the food is just not to die for 100% of the time. Very sad. The takeout tasted different, like it wasn’t seasoned like the first time we ordered the chicken dish. I can say that the pork-belly bun is consistently great, but all the other menu items we’ve tried have been all across the board. The staff is also pleasant all the time, but unfortunately that doesn’t lend consistency to the food. I’ll still be a customer, maybe just not as often!

Very good Chinese! This place is spectacular. You wouldn’t think much of it being in a quiet plaza, but the food is great. I heard they’re well known for their Braised Pork Belly Steamed Buns, so we ordered a couple and they turned out very tasty and packed with flavour. We then ordered a few dim sum dishes which were very tasty then finished off with some entrees which were the Scallion Lamb and the Shanghai Noodles with Shredded Pork which were very delightful as well. In my opinion, this place is one of the better Chinese options around. Most restaurants have identical menus which are Americanized, but this place’s menu is completely different with traditional and fusion dishes. I rarely recommend getting take-out from any restaurant because the time it takes to reach your house, I believe it wouldn’t taste as good as if you sat down and ate at the restaurant in person. Do yourself a favour, and enjoy the atmosphere and friendly service the place offers as you enjoy your food.

I was disappointed on the take out during the last few occasions. Two of the last three times the Spring Rolls weren’t crisp, obviously made a good deal ahead. My wife, who always favors Sesame Chicken has indicated that it hasnt’ beeen of the same quality. She greatly prefers Hong Wah in Penfield for the same dish and I have to agree though our experiences there have only been dine in, not take out. On last night’s take out, I tried the Spicy Peppercorn chicken with green peppers, chilis, and peppercorns(and though not on the menu description hot peppers as well). Very spicy which was greatly preferred but essentially tasteless. I had to mix it with some Hoison sauce we had at home to make it palatable. I’m sorry to see the inconsistency in the take out as of late. I don’t fault the Sesame Chicken as that’s a Chinese dish offered to Americans at what is supposed to be a Vietnamese themed restaurant but that shouldn’t be the reason why my dish, supposedly a house specialty, was so bland. Here’s hoping that they improve. It may be that we dine in only from now on as I’ve found that to be a bit more consistent.

I finally had the opportunity to dine at Han’s other location tonight over in Fairport and definitely have to say it was a pleasurable experience. I think for me the Monroe Ave. one still wins hands down on flavor, especially when it comes to the noodle phở-like broths(they are MEGA good), but this one still maintains a different and more authentic taste of Chinese food than your standard Americanized take-out locations across Rochester. For appetizers, my friends tried the shiitake mushroom buns, pork belly buns, and scallion pancakes. Without question the scallion pancakes and shiitake mushroom buns stole the show! The pancakes were really crisp and the mushroom buns were umami and shroomtastic. Would order again without a doubt. The pork belly buns were well cooked, but didn’t taste of anything. The pork was crisp as I like it but it had NO flavor whatsoever which was a huge disappointment. Even the sauce on the bun was severely lacking, and so really all I got was a mouthful of what might as well have been calorie-laden chunky air. The entrees on the other hand were all good for what they were — we shared sweet and sour chicken, XO shrimp and squid, and peppercorn chicken. For me the standout was the peppercorn chicken — it had a very light crispness around it but didn’t seem deep fried, the poultry was wonderfully tender, and the coating around it just had that delicious perfect balance of salt and pepper. Combined with the dry chiles and roasted peppers and scallions it was surrounded in, it was just pure bliss for my taste buds. The other two were relatively standard for your American fare, but props to the fresh veg with the shrimp and squid. It’s just a shame that the XO sauce was so bland and watered down, clearly not made from a paste like it should be. Overall, I guess it was a pleasant experience and still better than take-out, but I would not go out of my way to go here again. I’m afraid the Monroe Ave. location(amongst other more authentic Chinese restaurants in town) has a significant upper edge on this one!

The food was ok, not particularly flavorful. Everthing was cooked well, the chicken was heavily breaded. We had hoped for more heat. The hot and sour soup was more mild and salty

A solid choice for Chinese food in Perinton! The food is quite similar to quality to their original location on Monroe Ave but the prices are slightly steeper($ 1-$ 2 more) but the ambiance in here is much nicer(albeit the loud noises from the giant TV). I tried their Beef Chow Fun and fried calamari. The Beef Chow Fun was not too greasy but lacked the smoky punch of wok hei. However, you can add any vegetable you want for $ 1 more. I chose to add bok choy and it made it a more«wholesome» meal. The calamari was heavily battered and greasy. While the calamari itself was tender, the heavy coating will keep me from ordering it again. I did enjoy the accompanying dipping sauce — it was tart and a little sweet(plum sauce based, perhaps?). The service was impeccable and friendly. There was a slight language barrier where we both repeated bok choy a few times and weren’t sure what the other said but we figured it out. Bok choy transcends language… eventually! I will be back if I am in the area and craving Chinese.

Meh… Everything we had came frozen from a bag. Best part was very friendly service. Décor was a mix of cool creative and shoddy construction.

The pork belly steamed buns are to die for. Also love the soup dumplings especially with the vinegar dipping sauce. Crab rangoons definitely had more crab than cream cheese like the average Chinese restaurant. Nicely crisply fried. The hot and sour soup could have used a touch more heat for my taste but that’s just me. We have yet to order any meals, as you can have a great experience doing dim sum.

I still love the food. Really. But since they’ve opened I have noticed changes that justify taking off that fifth star.(1) the sizes of the buns, and the dumplings, have gotten smaller, still delicious, but less.(2) forks on table instead of chopsticks.(3) they brought in a damned television, and turned a nice peaceful dining experience into nothing more than sitting in a waiting room or being in someone else’s family room — so exasperating, as I can’t stand HGTV(what is typical on) and it clutters the background music and it makes other people get louder, totally killing the ability to enjoy the meal and converse calmly. Who goes to restaurant to watch TV? Now it is just a takeout fav.

Thanks to some handy Unilocal reviews I thought to visit Bistro Han after a trip to Eastview Mall. Despite its placement in a quasi-strip mall, it has a bit of a trendy vibe — black walls with red accents. Super simple and not too big. The perfect spot for a nice duo dinner on a weeknight. Service was a delight — the hostess was quick to find us a seat on what was a surprisingly busy night for the staff. Despite the unexpected dinner rush, our waitress was attentive at all the right moments with water refills and timely arrivals of our appetizer, then entrees. It’s an obvious suggestion, but get the steamed buns. Just do it. The buns are like little fluffs of cloud. I could eat one million of them. They’re filled with a lightly sauced crispy chunks of pork belly, scallion, and chopped peanuts(2-for $ 5). For my entrée, I blindly ordered the Black Bean Beef Hofein. I placed the order on a whim as I struggled to make a decision about what I wanted. I was curious to try the noodles and also intrigued by the black beans. Hey, why not? Well, luckily it was delish. I loved the black beans, which added a richness to the dish along with the light sauce that coated the noodles. They were wide noodles and tossed with bean sprouts, black beans, onion, and chunks of tender beef. I had leftovers for the next two days. A bonus. Next visit, I’ll consult my fellow reviewers for some dish suggestions as I winged it the first time around. ‘Tis a worthwhile trip to stray from the lackluster American-Chinese takeout options. Bistro Han surely offers a unique dining experience — stick with the house specials, you can’t go wrong.
