Love this place! Been going here for years with my family and will continue to do so as we get older & our family grows!

This is a great orchard! It’s free admission, they have yummy apples, lots of pumpkins, awesome corn dogs(I know how silly that sounds but I have seriously never had a better corn dog), a great playground for kids and hay bales for climbing. Coming here is winning at life. Your kids will love it and so will you!

Very organized, clean and courteous staff. Love that they have those long staffed apple grabbers. It was the end of the season when we went and the only apples left were too tall to grab by hand. Priced well, too. $ 6 for a half peck of apples $ 10 for a peck They also have wagons for pumpkin picking!

It’s a worth a visit to the concession stand for one of their Jumbo Hot Dogs and a Cider Slushy. Seriously, don’t miss getting those. We also tried their chili cheese nachos, corn dog, and elephant ear. On our way out, we also purchased some really great chocolate peanut butter fudge, cider, and farm fresh eggs. They have a good variety of apples. Just purchase bags at the counter $ 6 — ½ peck, $ 10 peck, $ 18 ½ bushel, 32 bushel. It’s a gem on the Eastside of Indy.

I put the word out on Facebook that I needed a great place to get apples and pumpkins this weekend. I had several suggestions, but since Pleasant View was the closest to home, it won out. We had other plans on Saturday, so we arrived around 9:10(hours: 9 – 6, daily) and were the first people there. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We went into the store to buy the bags we’d pick apples in. The woman was SO friendly. The store has apple butter, jams, all kinds of pumpkins and decorative gourds, as well as various types of squash, hot and cold cider, and apple cider slushies. It was nice being there so early because it was still quiet and we wandered all over the place without rhyme or reason. They helpfully provided a basic outline of their orchard. Varieties that were circled were available, crossed out meant they were gone. Easy enough. We sampled and found our favorites and got plenty of apples to bake(and bake and bake) with, as well as eat on their own. Not a big apple cider fan myself, I sipped on Kyle’s and was pleased to find it less sweet than most. We also took home a couple smaller pumpkins and some decorative gourds(because FALLISTHEBESTSEASONOFALL). Definitely a place we would come back to and recommend to others!

We woke up on an early fall Sunday morning, and my husband declared that it was a day for apple picking. Despite living in Indy most of my life, I’d never gone fruit picking here, so I was sort of at a loss for where to go. We found Pleasant View(like 20 minutes from home!) and decided to go for it! Though I don’t have a lot of experience with apple picking, I really enjoyed this farm. They had over 80 rows of apples(tons of variety) with trees that were easy to access and in good shape. It really gives off a family farm vibe. The prices for apples were cheap(we stuffed a bag with 15 apples for $ 6.00), and I liked the set up of buying the bag and then getting the apples. The farmhouse had lots of other edible goodies for sale(jams, breads, cider, caramel apples), and we also picked up some adorable/ugly gourds and pumpkins for our kitchen table(cheap at 50 cents per baby pumpkin). The parking situation does leave a little to be desired. There are some spray painted directions on the ground that no one can really read, so you have to be careful to end up in an area where you won’t get parked in. Even though we were there on a busy weekend with every parking spot taken, it didn’t feel super packed with people. We were able to wander down the rows without encountering other pickers pretty easily. Five stars to a family farm that’s keeping the fall spirit alive!

This was our first visit to Pleasant View Orchard. It’s a very picturesque farm. They have a great apple selection(a lot of which I’d never heard of before), cider, pumpkins, gourds, and squash. You can either pick your own apples, or grab a pre-packaged bag from their barn. A half peck is $ 6, a peck is $ 10 and a half bushel(2 pecks) is $ 18. You pay for the bag when you get there and then pick until you’ve filled it. The only issue I had with the whole place was that their parking situation could use some attendants or better signage. Their overflow lot is along the side of the road. The road’s edge has about a foot drop which would bottom out most cars. They had access points to it with gradual transitions that were spray painted to show that you shouldn’t park there. When it came time to leave both the entrance and exit had been parked in, so we had to do some risky driving to get out. This isn’t their fault, but if someone could be there to direct incoming traffic that would be a huge plus. They also have what appeared to be a very popular concession stand. I’d never seen anything like this before at an orchard but they had everything from cider slushies and caramel apples to elephant ears. The whole place smelled delicious. We didn’t get any prepared food because the line was huge but when we go back in a few weeks we’ll try to stop by at a less popular time(we went around 1:00pm on a Sunday) to grab a snack before we head out to the orchards. Overall the produce they had to offer was great. We’ll be going back a few more times this season to get our apple needs met and pumpkins for Halloween.

Couldn’t have been a more autumn-esque day to visit Anderson Orchard! I arrived with three«missions» in mind: 1.) introduce my friend from Texas to his first orchard(oh, Indiana, you’re just too cute) 2.) purchase a half peck of apples 3.) purchase an obnoxious number of so-ugly-their-cute pumpkins. I was able to accomplish two of my three goals and still left sporting a toothy smile. $ 7 for a half peck bag and boy, oh boy, did I give that bag a run for its money. I believe I was able to squeeze in somewhere around 14 or so apples(yeah! 50 cents per apple!) I appreciated the laid back/free for all approach — *here’s your bag *have at it* Due to the particularly dry summer/poor crop, several local orchards were eliminating the u-pick option for the year. Fortunately, Anderson wasn’t one of them. One more thumbs up for Anderson: open on Sundays! My only bummer-dude of the day: no so-ugly-their-cute-pumpkins to be found. The largest pumpkins on site were pie pumpkins. Oh, well, gives me one more fun item to buy at the Original Farmer’s Market downtown on Wednesday.

Love this Orchard! Its very close to my parents house so it is a must when visiting the family. Little known fact: starts operating in July!!! Apple picking is a bit later but the cider slushes are available and man are they SENsational! Best cider slush I’ve ever had. Jams and other veggies are available too! If you go, REMEMBER: CIDERSLUSHITBABY! Oh, and they’re only a buck!

Didn’t actually pick apples, I visited this orchard for the first time in October and picked up a couple bags of apples. Will come back earlier next year to do some actual apple picking! They had hay rides out to the pumpkin patch for kids, a mountain of pumpkins available next to their barn, and so many different kinds of apples! I appreciated that they post the apples’ characteristics(tart, sweet, good for eating or baking) along with the names on the signs… there were a few varieties of apples I had not heard of before. They also have cider, apple butter, lots of different kinds of preserves… it really is a country farmstand. It was super busy on a fall afternoon, so the lines were long, but there is so much to look at the time passes quickly. Parking is kind of a nightmare, and be prepared for the gravel roads!

How do you like them apples? (What? I know it’s what you’re thinking… just had to get that outta the way… moving forward you can choose whether you want to picture Matt Damon or the talking tree from the Wizard of Oz as the voice of this review! Or a freakish hybrid of both: like Matt Damon’s face on the tree!) What a day at the orchard! Splendid weather… bustling families spilling over from Pleasant View’s Heritage Fest and a laid back wandering through an orchard! My lovely companion and I headed Southeast for the 30 minute trip, which was just enough to feel like a getaway from the city. Thanks to the handy-dandy Unilocal we found the website info making sure no cars are allowed on this orchard… we made our way to this place because it’s only wagon country out on this orchard. Pick up 2 peck-sized bags and snatch up a picking pole and walk on out to the apple trees!($ 13 for a total of about 3 dozen apples all-told!) I straight up loved this experience. I want to pick all my fruit! We have more apples than we know what to do with; well… we know… apple sauce, apple sauce and apple pies! A veritable lil’ apple fest we’ll have! The orchard has a market too… with sauces, jams, butters, cashew brittle, caramels, caramel apples, gourds and all things Indiana & Fall. Get it on!
