My husband and I stopped in here for a quick beer and an appetizer. It’s obviously new. The décor is just OK. Our server didn’t seem to know the menu very well and had to check to see what the beer selection was(not a big one.) It was uncomfortably cold in the seating area. They have a curtain hanging in front of the door to block the cold air but they need to come up with a better plan. Every time someone walks in or out, you’re going to be uncomfortable for a good 5 minutes in the colder weather. The fried calamari we ordered was a bit too chewy. We didn’t stay long and won’t be visiting again.

Stopped by and loved the atmosphere! Beautiful place. Had soup and split a mixed appetizer plate. The food was also very good. Would highly recommend!

Went for the first time yesterday. Lovely place with delightful service. Had the fish & chips — delicious. My dining companion had the special chicken pot pie. She loved it and could only eat about half of it. Will definitely go back very soon.

In the area to attend a family function with an overnight stay. This place was almost next door so we decided to check it out. It’s a newer restaurant in a strip mall on the Post Road, but don’t let that put you off. This is a great Irish pub restaurant with a good selection of food, not to mention beers whiskeys and such. We had the calamari, stuffed mushrooms with crab, seafood gumbo, NY strip, and Sole francais. Everything was very well prepared and simply presented and delicious. Even though the place was packed, service was excellent and we never felt rushed or forgotten. If your in the area and need a place to kick back and eat and relax, do it at The Castle on Post.

Loved the castle on post! It’s always tough for new restaurants to find their niche especially in restaurant obsessed Fairfield but I think they are here to stay! Great food, great ambiance, and most importantly great service! The owner personally came over and asked how our meals were which was really nice to see in a busy establishment. Reasonably priced and you get a lot for your money! The corned beef and cabbage was to die for but they have plenty of different food if you’re not into Irish faire. I will definitely be back!

I think this place is a hidden gem –amazing! The menu is very eccentric in the best way possible. Cool atmosphere and the bartender gal was just as good if not better :) Had the chicken sliders and some drinks — and the other things on the menu looked really good too. Will be back!

You will find a cosy atmosphere and friendly service. The food is fresh and tasty. This is not bar food; although the snacks are tasty and plentiful. I think this new restaurant is a nice addition to Fairfield! Best of luck to you!

My husband and I discovered this place when we were looking for a new lunch spot one day and it was dynamite! We have visited for dinner twice since and have had the best meals. The service is second to none and the food is always on point. We definitely recommend the Castle Sandwich(my favorite), the Shepherd’s Pie, and the Fish and Chips. All solid dishes, with a great balance of flavor and hearty portions. We will be making this place one of our regular spots. Absolutely the best.

I’ve been there twice and have had great experiences both times. The location itself is good, the restaurant is warm and cozy(a HUGE upgrade from the previous establishment located there). It’s clear there is history with the place, even though it’s new. The menu is solid and the bar is stocked well. The service was friendly and the food is consistently good. I like the happy hour menu. As a guy who loves pub environments for their warm and lively atmosphere I will sure be returning. I can imagine this place getting popular and not being able to hold everyone, as the location itself isn’t that large.

Thank you, The Castle on Post, for taking over this spot. From the former owner of the venerable and epic Black Rock Castle, you have everything that was the Castle but smaller. Perfect pub food. I enjoyed a Castle burger, crisp fries and a great bowl of lobster bisque. my companion enjoyed classic fish and chips. attentive service made everything smooth and enjoyable. many of the patrons were greeted by the staff/owners as old friends, like you were coming home. the atmosphere is cozy.
