I stop in CT on route to Massachusetts for lunch. This time — I really should’ve stuck with Barcelona in Fairfield. This place here is missing the great customer service and top notch taste. Ehh… after waiting a more than needed for the server and unable to switch my ‘free margarita’ coupon on Unilocal for a mojito, I was served with the lobster enchilada. Nothing wowing(but not horrible — just average) and in a smaller than expected portion. I’ll still be hungry after this. Even at Barcelona — the tapas were adequate and FULL of flavor. Overall — not worth it. You can do just as good with a lower price Tex-Mex.

Food was good specially the steak on the yucca. I was a bit disappointed that there were non spice options. The waiter was okay not the best customer service but okay. There was a young lady of Asian decent that was very nice and always walked by picked up any plates we were done with and always asked if we needed anything and made sure everything was okay.

Went here to for dinner and drinks. We made a reservation and was accommodated immediately when we walked in. They make guacamole on the spot which is good. Their margarita, tortilla chips and salsa are great too. We also ordered some tacos. Their Mahi-mahi tacos were over seasoned that we didn’t taste the fish at all. We were all convinced it was chicken. Their service is good. They have ample parking space. We were here on a Friday night and it was packed. So best to have a reservation specially if it’s gonna be a big group like ours. In the earlier part of the dinner, there were families with children dining. The décor is great and the patio seating is a plus.

2 words– Incredible cocktails! If you like tequila, go to Geronimos! Best part about going on a Sunday is there ½ priced tequila drinks. Our bartender Ryan was incredible. Definitely will be here in the future!

I’ll give this place 3 stars only because the service wasn’t that great and neither was the margarita. Very watered down. I did enjoy the ambiance and décor but it didn’t make up for the bad service. We came on a Thursday night after 10(which is their Mid-week happy hour). The bartender was extremely sweet but none of the servers were. We ordered a guacamole and were given about 2 ounces and charged $ 10!!! As if we purchased the full size guacamole. The wine was pretty good and the inside surprised me. This seems like a good place to come with a big group of non-foodie friends. As a foodie I was not impressed. Bodega and Bar Taco are much better establishments.

This is one of my most favorite restaurants. Been coming here for a few years. Their cucumber cooler margarita is seriously the best drink ever. They are what made me realize cilantro just belongs in a margarita. So if you like cilantro AND margaritas… please throw them together and you’ll thank me. The food is a bit pricey but have to say it always worth the extra dollar because you get good food. Very fresh and tasty. Always. The table side guacamole is delicious for the avocado lover. I just went here tonight and as always leaving… aaaaaaahhhhhhhh completely satisfied and always wanting to go back

The most bland guac. Had to slather on hot sauce. The tacos were the worst i have had in fairfield cty. I had baja fish which was a few dried out flavorless pieces of mahi mahi with tons and tons of slaw on top… Husband had lobster enchiladas those were good. Not sure what the fuss is about here Was below average tex mex Filled with fairfield u students so that explains the low standards. Wont be back. There are way better mex restaurants around. Bathrooms were nice tho!

*Just so you all are aware, the free margarita at check in is only valid if you order from the main plates section of their menu. I was bummed out by this the first time, forgot and was disappointed a second time. So this is my second review. I had the same waiter as last time and he was definitely more attentive. This time I ordered the frito pie(it never disappoints.) I was feeling adventurous and ordered the junkyard. It was VERY good and a big portion. I shared with my friend and had enough for lunch the next day. I also tried a bit of her spicy bacon burger. I could tell the ground beef was of good quality and the bacon was perfect. We had an overall great experience and this time I got my margarita with salt! Geronimos is a great addition to the downtown Fairfield scene and I will continue to come.

Always fresh & delicious food. Wonderful & fun atmosphere. The bar area is quite attractive with the many bottles of tequila. The patio & fire put out front are a great place to enjoy a cocktail. Would eat there again & again.

Well I posted the review the day I went and it was reports and removed. So i’m posting the entire review here as opposed to linking back to my blog. Enjoy Today we had lunch at Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill located in Fairfield, CT. So this is how our experience went. First we were searching for a place to eat I was with my daughter. She’s a vegetarian so we had to find a place that served something she could eat. We drove by the restaurant and decided to turn back and give it a try. When we arrived we were seated by a somewhat dismissive hostess. She just seemed like she hated her job and didn’t want to be there. Which hey I can related to but still you have to at least pretend to like your job. So our waitress came over and we were ready to order. We ordered the vegetable chili and the three sisters tamales. Our waitress who was pleasant took or order left a bottle of water on the table and headed off. We poured the water and noticed floaties, I said to my daughter oh looks like it might be lemon. Uh… Nope not lemon as you can see the bottle inside was filthy there was all sorts of stuff floating in the warm water yes warm because I took a sip of it thinking it was lemon. Honestly if it wasn’t because we had already ordered our food we would have left. The next 10 minutes where spent looking at each other as if we were heading towards our impending doom. And then the dishes arrived. The Three Sisters Tamales and the vegetarian chili. This started a stare down to see who was going to taste first. I broke and took a bite of the Tamales and wow they where delicious. The chili was good nothing extraordinary about but it was good. The onions and the sauces and the breads where really good. We ended up being pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and honestly I would go back just for those Tamales and being married to a Mexican I’ve had the real deal. We pretty much polished off the food and usually when the two of us go out to eat we have a lot of left over. This time only a small amount of chili made it’s way home. In the end I would give this place a second chance. Had it not been for the water and snotty hostess it would easily have gotten 5 stars. We plan on heading back at some point to give them a second chance. So if you’re looking for what we thought was good food minus the floaties visit Geronimo located just stay away from the water.

Normally I love this place, but the past few times we’ve gone, table service is not good. I had to ask the bartender and hostess to send a server over. We sat there for at least 10 minutes and no service. It wasn’t even busy. We left and went to Local down the road — served right away.

Great food, Great drinks ! The table side Guacamole is to die for! Easily became one of the best I’ve ever had. The strawberry margarita I had here was made perfectly, not to sweet and not sour. For an entrée I had the Spicy Bacon Burger which was HUGE and very flavorful. The burger had brown sugar bacon with avocados on it. The interior of the restaurant looks very appealing. There is also an outside patio area with a fire pit which is nice touch as long as the weather is nice. The downside to this place is that it is packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Has a nice sized parking lot but gets full pretty fast. It is also very pricy, but with good food that should be expected. I would definitely recommend Geronimo to anyone in the area.

We had an amazing dinner here the other night, and let me just say the food was a 5-star meal for SURE! We were a group of 6 walk-in(don’t take reservations) and were told the wait was about 40 mins, so we had some drinks at the bar as well as an order of guac. Do yourself a favor and get the guacamole — it was fantastic and you can spice it up to your liking(SPICY!!) The margaritas are amazing, I loved the passion fruit jalepeno and blood orange best — all strong and not too sweet. The hostess stand was a hot mess and couldn’t handle the crowd very well there Saturday night — 6 person tables went empty for 20 minutes at a time without being filled we noticed, and after asking twice we were seated after about an hour. Once at the table, we ordered another round of guac(it’s probably a great size for around 4 people to share as an app). For dinner I opted for the buffalo nachos — PSATHEMEATISBUFFALOMEAT, not spicy buffalo sauce as some of us might believe, and the waiter did not mention this. Was is delicious? You bet, but one does not automatically assume that you’re receiving buffalo meat, so the wait staff should really be on top of this or make it clearer in the menu. Regardless, it was amazing. The rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals — tacos were delicious and comes with 3 pretty big ones. The Molcajete was enormous and delicious, comes in a piping hot guac bowl and is served with rice and tortilla shells fajita-style if you so choose. Rellenos are stuffed peppers and were probably the least delicious thing we ordered. As far as the service — it was pretty bad, like 2 star bad once we sat at the table. By that time the restaurant was quieting down and there weren’t too many tables seated. Our waiter came and took maybe 2 peoples drink orders, and then didn’t check on us again until he took our orders. The food took over an hour to come out and we were forced to ask other members of the wait staff to find our waiter for an update because he was blatantly avoiding our table, knowing the food was very delayed. Just come and apologize and offer to grab some more drinks or something? Anything would have been better than that behavior. Luckily the food was hot and amazing once it arrived, it really saved the night. I’d be back but maybe on a quieter night, or just for guac & margaritas! P. S. If you order an entrée, you get a free margarita with your check-in offer! Has to be the house Marg, but either way.

I was excited to have Geronimo in town and enjoy it’s outdoor space but will take a pass based on two separate visits. Each time I was served my food it came with a side of critters… Crickets to be exact. The entertaining part was the managers reaction who mentioned they escaped from the scorpion aquarium… seems they might want to seal that a bit to avoid uninvited guests in the food. I was offered a free tequila shot for the trouble… No thanks, not sure excuses and a free drink make up for crickets in my food, twice. Where there is one there are many which is the most disturbing part… I looked it up. Can anyone say infestation? Crickets mate in late summer and lay their eggs in autumn. The eggs hatch in the spring and have been estimated to number as high as 200 per fertile female. Species Acheta domestica however lays eggs almost continually, with the females capable of laying at least twice a month I just received an email from Unilocal that Geronimo complained about my review rather then own up to the constructive review… Best practice would be to apologize for the issue and fix it. Customer service is dying. The mangers comment in regard to my post says it all. Poor taste on both accounts… Good luck

I came here with my mom last Thursday. It was a gorgeous day and it was one of the only places that had outdoor seating available! I’ve been here numerous times. Both this location and New Haven location are amazing. I tend to choose the Fairfield because parking is a bit easier. Every employee from hostess to waitstaff to bartender is very welcoming and pleasant. The drinks are so fresh. They have hands down the best margaritas. The food is also great. We had guacamole(whenever I crave guacamole geronimos is my go To restaurant). They make it fresh when you order it. We also had a grilled romaine salad and the fig and chorizo fry bread. Everything was fresh and flavorful. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I can’t think of one single negative thing to say about it:

I stopped here here for dinner last night(Thursday) and our waiter was nice, the only con is that we had to keep calling him over to re-order our drinks but besides that our food was delicious!!! I will definitely be back soon!

Don’t recommend this place to any of my friends or family My friends and I just came in from New York to visit family and decided to stop by and grab a few drinks and small bite. The hostess would not sit us in front of the house. She insisted on placing us in the back-we expressed to her how we wanted to sit upfront and she would not let us. We tried speaking to the manager and again he refused to sit us in the front of the restaurant. We said we would wait until we could eat up front and he expressed that there is no room for my friends and I only in the back. It was extremely rude and unprofessional of how they treated customers. We ended up heading out since they would not allow us to sit. Good thing we left — we ended up locating this cute place called bodega down the street.

I always have a great experience at Geronimo. The cocktails are well crafted and the food is creative, well prepared, and nicely seasoned. I love the décor. I have found the service to be friendly and helpful with suggestions. It is a good place for groups, a date, or going out for drinks later in the night.

Welcome to the Wild West where scorpions are living, elk are eaten, and tequila is flowing. We arrived around 6pm on Monday evening and our party of 5 was seated immediately without reservation at a table with living scorpions and crickets inside. Fascinating and slightly startling at first, but definitely kept us entertained when our server had several long stretches before checking in with us. Hot Tip– check in on Unilocal for a free margarita with the order of a main course(as of this writing). Otherwise, most margaritas are $ 10 on the rocks, or $ 40 for a pitcher. The décor has been thought out with detailed love from the ceiling design to the cowhide bench. While it may not sound vegetarian friendly so far– there are definitely vegetarian options on the menu. Everything we ordered was flavorful and filling. Drinks were great. Service was a little slow, perhaps understaffed, but never felt neglected. The tamales & quesadilla were enough to share between smaller appetites.
