I absolutely love this place. It never disappoints. Kudos to the owner. He knows his wine and he knows his food. Not too many items on the menu but whatever you order you can’t go wrong with it. They recently had a bone marrow off the menu as one of the specials and it was FANTASTIC. Good atmosphere, quality and crowd. A bit pricey particularly if you get the V-Day reservation but you won’t regret.

I really liked this place. The service was excellent, and the owner stopped by many of the tables to check in. The cheese plate was nice, the asparagus soup was fantastic! Salmon also good. Sommelier made a perfect recommendation based on what I described. The tables had divider screens which I’m not used to, but I think that will grow on me. A bit of a trek, but I’ll definitely go back!

Wine was good. Location was cute. But why were the waiters/bartenders so miserable? We had 3, and each was as unfriendly and unhelpful as the last. Everyone working there looked unhappy. There are several great wine bars in Northern Virginia with warm, welcoming staffs; we will continue going to those. I will not return here. Sadly — I wanted to like it but was completely turned off.

Manager did reply back to my Unilocal comment and explained that alcohol can’t have happy hour pricing if you use a groupon. It would have been nice if the server had put in the happy hour price before she even knew we had a groupon and then explained better why it couldn’t be applied after we informed her of our groupon. I will update my rating to 3 stars because manager genuinely seems to care about this business.

Food is really yummy and the menu changes seasonally. One of my favs are the braised short ribs and the beet salad during the summer months. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They always recommend wine that will go with the meals of all in your group and can work with most budgets. Love the wine selection and the options for wine tastings as well as wine education classes that are offered.

Sad to give this place two stars… I was really really looking forward to trying it out and was disappointed. Went here for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. We were immediately sat next to two chatty girls despite that there were 3 open tables. I asked our waitress if we could move over to one of the open tables and she was reluctant and told me a divider would still have to be placed on the table in case other customers came in — which was fine with us…(Might I add that this was a week day and no other customers came in after us…) Glad we moved… The wine was pretty good. We tried a few reds, all of which were yummy. The cheese tray was pretty great and very fresh. A+ for that! Our meals arrived about 3 minutes after our cheese tray which was ok but our table was a little crowded with dishes and glasses… My boyfriend’s meal was tasty– he got the short ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans. Very flavorful and tender. My meal, however, was just the opposite. I ordered the NY Strip and there was probably about 3 oz of gristle and fat. The steak was overcooked and very, very bland. The fries were decent. I just expected more out of a place that charges $ 28 for a NY Strip and French Fries. I have had better steaks for half the price at Cheesecake Factory or hell, even Applebees! I would return but only to do a wine tasting with the cheese platter… But I’m sure I could find a place more reasonably priced for that…

This has recently been added to our list of regular restaurants for nice sit down dinners. The food is always good, service is attentive without being annoying, and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. We recently met friends there for dinner — table for seven — the atmosphere was such that we could all communicate and take part in the conversation which is a rarity these days at most restaurants. Plan ahead and make reservations as it is often busy and full… just shows how popular it is. I don’t drink alcohol so no specific review on the wines; however, our friends found a few bottles that they seemed to enjoy immensely.

Our entire party loved their food. Risotto, bouillabaisse, and pastry wrapped cod. All excellent. Great atmosphere. Great wine. Not cheap, but well worth the quality for us. We’ll be back.

I have been here easily 10 times in the last few years but always forget to write a review. I love their selection of wines, all of the food I’ve tried and the staff are really professional and have so much wine knowledge. They offer tastings on Saturday afternoons that we have enjoyed a few times. The restaurant is very quiet and chic and offers a great atmosphere for a date night. There is plenty of outdoor seating in the warmer months and it’s great to relax on their patio with a bottle of wine and snacks. The place is small but so charming and visiting has always been a great time.

Nice little dinner spot in Fairfax. I brought out of town guests here before trying it myself(a little risky!) and they loved it. Staff is very knowledgeable about wine and not pretentious about it at all. They give you flavor options, you pick one, and they bring you back three wines. They tell you about each one then you pick it and drink it. Lovely. $ 10 corking fee if you drink there; you can also pick one of the hundreds of bottles off the wall and take it home with you. Food was delicious. My aunt and uncle had the salmon and surf and turf specials respectively, and they both loved their meals. I ordered the mussels and would recommend them. A little on the small side, but I think that’s how they are here in Maryland. And, on Mondays, they have unlimited mussels. Yes, I’ll be back on a Monday. I DO like that even if you order your meal right when you enter, the waitstaff gives you a little bit of time to settle in with the wine before bringing out your food. You do not feel rushed. I DON’T like that there isn’t complimentary bread. I mean, it’s not like I’m going to fill up on it. I chose a lovely meal to eat. But I enjoy a bit of bread and olive oil with my wine as I’m gearing up for a full meal. Waitstaff was great, if you go you should ask to be seated in Crystal’s section. She ensures you fully enjoy your experience. Place is a little hard to find. It’s next to the Green Turtle. Free parking in a garage behind the same complex. Also had a little trouble reaching someone by phone to make a reservation, but I messaged The Wine House on Unilocal and received a prompt response! Also, I didn’t see the link on Unilocal, but you can make a reservation via OpenTable. Bottom line: Looking for a nice dinner and appreciate wine? The Wine House is definitely worth your time.

Great restaurant hands down! I wanted to have a romantic evening with my honey and this resturant did not let me down at all. The wine was superb, the food was well prepared and delicious. I can’t wait to come back. What a hidden gem! Michael, i will try to recall and let you know. Hoping to come back on December 8th. Simone

My mom and I stumbled upon this place yesterday early afternoon. Our original plan was Panera but we decided to take a look at the menu. The menu looked fantastic and we decided to have brunch. The restaurant was participating in restaurant week which included 3 course for $ 22 dollars. We started off with the Beet Salad and a Charcuterie(Pâté & Blue Cheese). We were pretty stuffed after the appetizer but for the second course we decided on the Shrimp & Grits and the Salmon Salad. Both were delicious! We ended off with dessert. Passion Fruit Crème Brulee and a Chocolate Moose Cake. Wow! Both amazing, not too sweet. Lastly, the service was outstanding. Our server was friendly & knowledgeable. We will be back!

All you can eat mussels on Mondays. Paired with LA Porte du Caillou Sancerre, France. First set were spicy chorizo and tomato were very flavorful. Second set ginger and coconut milk also extremely tasty. Third included carmelized onion and bacon and white wine. Yum! Bartender /owner very friendly and helpful, routinely checking in to see how everything is.

We had such a wonderful 14th of July celebration! Awesome dinner from Chef Jacques Imperato who took great care in pairing each course with the great wines from guest Sommelier Stephane Defot. Michael was his usual best host ever! Merci beaucoup for a memorable evening.

Wine selection is great the staff rocks and the food is top notch. The staff are true wine pros, constantly updating their knowledge and skills. Ask for Pianetta, not widely available in NOVA. One of the staff recommended the Suzzanne for a special dinner and it was worth the price. Vines planted in 1903 in Spain are what is still used today in that well balanced gem.

We have been going there since they opened. Last night we went for flight night which was very tasty. We also love going on Mondays for all you can eat mussels. You get a 3 options on how you want it prepared and each option is delicious. The food last night was spot on the only only complaint I have about the wine house is that there menu changes ALL the time. The items I fell in love with originally are not longer there. the other gripe is the cheese and meat platter. Originally the platter was amazing and now it’s gotten kind of sad. They should bring back the old one. I will try to add a photo of the old vs the new. The wine is spectacular and the employees are very nicely educated in the products they are selling. We will continue to go back and I would definitely recommend them.

Pretty cool experience at the Wine House when I went there the other week. The place is tucked away in Fairfax next to the Green Turtle in the corner and the inside has a nice upscale interior that makes for casual, cozy atmosphere. I went around 530pm on a Friday without reservations and was able to secure a table not problem but after an hour of so, the place was packed so I would maybe recommend reservation in the future if you decide to go around that time. After waiting for a little, we had to flag down a server to put in some orders. Alright, so I do not know much about wine, let alone can pronounce the word«Sommelier», so I decided to go with the Pinot Noir since it was first listed on the menu and because I am sort of into reds for the time being. To accompany our drinks we ordered some nice quick bites to soothe our hunger over. First was the charcuterie board which housed cured meats such as chorizo, salami, and brisket, as well as pâté, olives, pickles. Second was a cheese plate that had the whole shebang: light to sharp cheese, nuts, grapes, and a fruity tart sauce. Each of the boards came with bread and wine rice crackers which served as holders for all the combinations of meats and cheese that I could make! Im a sucker for options and love having all these finger foods in my sight, so after all was said and done, The Wine House made for a delightful experience where friends can get together and enjoy some good wine with complimentary finger foods.
