Look. I could tell you about Mobius’ solid selection, which covers all the essential genres, has zero filler, and goes on row after row with stuff you want. I could mention how genuinely nice the guys are. Or how they’ve always given me fair appraisals on trade ins. I could bring up the convenience of having a free parking garage directly adjacent to the entrance. But, more than anything else, I’d like to draw attention to the couch. They have one. I’ve been to a fair few record stores in my time, but before Mobius, had yet to see so much as a chair. Why do record store people assume I don’t want to sit? Do they hate me? Do they hate my feet? Do they just hate comfort in general? Enough is enough. Here it is, friends, at last: Mobius. A place to buy records, and a place to sit.

The store is small but the atmosphere is great– It’s very clean, comfortable, and relaxed, and the staff is knowledgeable and, perhaps most importantly to me, super friendly. Pricing is very reasonable and while their selection isn’t huge it’s extremely strong– They seem to know which records are worth stocking, so you won’t have to sift through scores of used Eagles and Doobie Brothers records to find the good stuff. I can usually find something I’ve been seeking for a while and I can always find something good. This isn’t the place to go to hunt through huge piles of old used records for hidden gems, but it’s an awesome store with a great selection.

It’s great to have a record store in Fairfax city. I go there all the time because they have a great selection and are very customer friendly. Whenever I can’t find a record they are always more than willing to do the ground work to find it and Aquire it so I can add it to my collection. This record store is on par with the best of them. I’ve been to many stores in NYC as well as California and the Pacific Northwest and this one is within the top 3 if not the number 1.

This is about the best a vinyl store can be with respect to balancing space, price and variety. The shop is small and the quantity of used vinyl isn’t stellar but I always walk out with a nice batch for $ 25-$ 30. I’ve been shopping(mostly used) vinyl for over 30 years and overall, quality included, this shop is top notch.

Great, locally-owned small business that I’m proud to support. I get my haircut next door and always pop in after a trim to poke thru their bins and go home with some new vinyl. Good selection of both new, re-issue and used albums. Good shop, good people. Highly recommend!

The man working was very kind and patient in helping us pick a new record player. Great selection of vinyls both old and new plus reissues! Super stoked to have a record player again, and scored a very cool Phish album pressed in orange vinyl. Is in the same building as Declieu Coffee shop… get your coffee and you tunes!

The people at Mobius helped me find a special John Coltrane record, a new release. I was so happy I bought two. It was impossible online to figure out the authentic release. I liked that they were so helpful and I liked what I purchased.

Second trip back. Only shop in the area that has my favorite bands. Extra kudos for carrying Menomena. Great bargains in the 3 and below bin. Very fair prices on new vinyl as well. Everything is in excellent condition. Great people too, can’t beat that. I’ve already vowed that I’ll become a regular and they’ve certainly earned that in just two visits. It’s like they read my mind. I want something and it shows up there so our relationship must be meant to be. Favorite record shop.

This place is amazing! I’m a vinyl junkie and this is easily the best record store in the area! They have an enormous selection of both new and used records and even some bootlegs as well. I was almost overwhelmed picking titles out. You can find everything from cheap classic rock records to Alternative and Hip Hop. They also sell turntables as well. The owner was extremely friendly and loves to talk about music with customers. It’s hard to find record stores around these days and this one is fairly new. I will continue to and highly urge everyone to support this place! There are very few like it still around!

I live in the area and to have Dempsey’s shop right here in town is awesome. He has a great selection and if you want something the he doesn’t have, he’ll order it. You can tell he just loves music because he has a selection from Elvis and the Beatles to WuTang and Jay Z, and literally everything in between. The kicker is that his store is right next to the amazing De Clieu coffee shop, the pairing was a match made in heaven!

The first time I came to Mobius, it was in search of the perfect birthday gift for a friend of mine. Dempsey, the owner, was helpful & welcoming and steered me to a couple options for my buddy, both of which were huge hits as gifts! After I got a record player a few months later, I started coming to Mobius to build up my own collection. There’s a great selection of artists and records — both old and new. Pricing is fair and service is top of the line. I hope to see Mobius stick around for a long, long time!

A tiny store with plenty of new records and — my favorite — stacks of $ 3 and below bargain-bin LPs. There’s a place to sit down and listen to your records, too. They have some cassettes but no CDs. This is a great compliment to the Record & Tape Exchange a few miles away. They even have a box of FREE records that are deemed too scratched or warped to play, although they make cool wall decorations! There is a parking garage immediately next to the front door, and a small lot about 20 feet away.

Very thorough selection of new and used vinyl. I’ve purchased everything from Fugazi to J Dilla here. The owner will also special order.

Friendly and helpful staff with a good selection of new and used records at fair/cheap prices. Good assortment in different genres of music. 99% of the store is new and used vinyl, but they also have a selection of used cassettes, turntables, and accessories. I stop in here at least once a week and all the used vinyl I’ve bought here has been in good playable condition… even the stuff from the cheap $ 3& Under section. Much better than any other dealers in this area or NYC. Highly recommended!

I found an awesome slipmat here that made a great holiday gift. Love the logo which is also printed on tshirts for sale. The owners are super friendly and very knowledgable. There’s also a cute coffee shop adjoining the store. This shop is a solid addition to Fairfax City.

This is a very cool shop in downtown Fairfax. Lots of new rock, punk, indie and classic records. Even some hip hop thrown in there. The space is small but comfortable. The listening stations are cool. The owner is very nice and helpful. Go support this place… it’s worth it.
