In answer to the person who wrote, «He thinks he’s God’s gift to haircutting…» He is! And my Mom and I know it! We walked out of his salon floating with SEXY, reveling in one another from across the lunch table and feel the same way, days later. We’re dealing with an artist here. He goes into his trance, singing and smiling, in love with what he’s doing, engaging us with his ideas and humor, whilst sculpting to our personalities in the moment. It doesn’t get any more God-like or spiritual than that, IMHO. Thank you Mitch, Alexis and Andrea LOVEYOU!

There is no question that this guy knows how to cut & style hair. I’ve been going to a woman in The City for +25 years, who is cutting back on her hours. Hence, I’ve been looking for someone of similar quality in Marin & he definitely qualifies. The only problem is he seems to feel he is God’s gift to haircutting. I made an appointment for a second haircut and when I arrived, he was in the middle of cutting a woman’s hair; not even close to being finished. I figured that a 10 or 15 minute wait is not big deal. After 30 minutes, he was still not close to being finished & I told him I couldn’t wait any longer. He told me if I’m not willing to wait, I won’t get a good haircut. Huh? I told him that I don’t wait 30 minutes for any haircut. Doctor appointments? Yes. Haircutters? No. It’s just not that big a deal. Needless to say, I won’t be back to visit Mitch again, unless he undergoes a major attitude adjustment.

Mitch is the best stylist ever. I have my hair colored, highlights are added, and I receive a cut at the same time. His haircuts are exquisite. They are so beautiful and precise, that when I wake up in the morning my hair still looks good. They’re that amazing! His cuts are easy to style, often versatile in styling choices, and they last a long time. I’m fairly adventurous with both color and cuts, so we play around with different combos. He is always engaged, focused, and incredibly creative. He’ll tell you if something won’t work which I find invaluable. I love to watch him work on other people too. He gives all his clients the same undivided attention. Everyone walks out of his salon looking like a million bucks. I am amazed by this consistency, it shows how incredibly talented he is… the man works magic! Give yourself a treat, and book with Mitch today!

I took my wife to this hair salon on 4.5.2014. I went to a barber shop to get my hair cut while she was getting her hair cut. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised. Her hair looked fantastic! Truthfully, I’ve only liked one of her hair cuts and it was from a salon in Sydney, AU. Mitch knows his craft. He cut my wife’s hair and gave her bangs. Perfect for her facial shape. He didn’t do a «razor cut»(thanks Mitch). I hate razor cuts. Mitch does great work and is meticulous. His training and experience is obvious. My wife has a new stylist.

Just moved to Marin and not knowing where to get my hair done I turned to Unilocal for help! So glad I did! Mitchell Field is located in the heart of the adorable town of Fairfax. Mitchell knew just what to do to bring my hair back to life. He truly is a master and knows his craft. After my color, highlight and cut I left feeling absolutely beautiful!!! What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Mitchell is so interesting and engaging while he transformed my hair from dull, boring to beautiful, vibrant. If you are looking for a new stylist… Look no further. Mitchell is the gem you are seeking.

I was a client of Mitchell’s many years ago and so thrilled to move back to Marin and start using his services again. He is friendly and engaging, and I can’t imagine anyone is more knowledgeable about hair than him. If you are on Unilocal, you may be on the fence about who to go to — seriously, stop looking and just call him. You will walk out of his salon feeling like a rock star.

Mitchell is a treasure! I’ve searched all over the Bay Area and finally found the professional who knows how to cut a real mod haircut! He trained with the best and his flair with the scissors shows it. Plus, he’s a great conversationalist and lover of music. I’m so happy to know that he is here. Totally recommended and reasonably priced.

I hate to disagree with the other women that posted glowing reviews. I have been to Mitchell’s salon twice and my hair looks worse than when I went in. A very good friend recommended Mitchell, and although her haircuts have usually been cute, my first visit January 12, 2013 for hair coloring was very frustrating. He told me to arrive at 2:25, but he had so many women waiting for their turn that around 3:30 pm I had to remind him that he said to arrive at 2:15. I said that I needed to drive over an hour to where I was dog sitting, and asked if he would be able to color my roots in that time frame. He said yes, but I ended up having to call a friend to walk and feed the dogs. I thought the color was too dark, and told him so at the time. He charged me $ 80. He said highlights would be good as he could not lighten the color. So 2 weeks later on January 25 I returned for a 3:15 appointment. He again kept me waiting over an hour. He charged me $ 158 for the highlights and the haircut. I was very surprised at the cost, since no prices are posted and I actually thought he was going to «fix» the too dark color from the previous visit. The«salt & pepper» look he was gave me was perhaps intended to be trendy, but looks like an older woman’s grey hair. The asymmetrical cut looks like a mistake, and is much shorter than I like. My boyfriend made an effort to say nothing, but eventually said he did not think it was flattering. The only people who had compliments were my friend and another lady in the salon. I wore a hat for several days. After trying to live with it for a week, I finally called Mitchell and told him I didn’t like it. His comments were rather insulting, and he said he didn’t know what he could do, and that maybe I should tell him what to do. I reminded him that he was the stylist, but he said for me to ask around as to how to change the look. When I called back a few days later, I asked if he had any ideas. He said no, and that he was a person with 50 years experience and knew what he was doing. I said, yes, but I am not happy. He said there was nothing he could do and I should go to another hairstylist. I asked him for a refund, as the first coloring cost $ 80 and the highlights $ 158 = $ 238 and I look awful. He said he does not give refunds and hung up on me. Beware, in my opinion, he is pricey and arrogant.

Mitchell studied and worked for years with Vidal Sassoon in London, and his work reflects that level of skill. He cuts & colors to your satisfaction, all with a smile and friendly, non-intimidating demeanor. And if after a few days you decide you don’t like your cut or color, he will fix it at no cost.

Call Mitchell If you’re looking for a haircut that you are going to love. He is professional, exceptionally good at what he does, and an all around nice guy. Mitchell makes you feel special and focuses on you and your hair, which you don’t always find at salons in the area. I get comments on my cut daily and look forward to many future haircuts from him. Call Mitchell today and make an appointment — you won’t regret it!

You get what you pay for here. Mitchell is amazing. He knows his craft and is willing to talk shop which, for me being a hairstylist myself, I find VERY refreshing. He is the only one I will let touch my hair even though I have to go 550 miles to get it done. His cutting technique is the best, razor or with shears. I’ve seen his highlight and blow-dry techniques as well so I am completely comfortable in his hands. You should do the same. Then people will ask you where you had your hair cut/colored and styled. When was the last time this happened to you? I live out of state and am constantly asked this!

Mitchell knows his hair. He’s probably got more knowledge in his pinky than most hair people will ever hope to have. Not only will you come out of there looking great, but you have a couple hours of pleasant and intelligent conversation with a very interesting cat. From swinging 60s London, to wild 80s LA to 21st century Marin, he’s done it all. Check it out!

Mitchell is great! He has been cutting my hair for years and I always look forward to chatting with him. He highlights and layers my shoulder length hair and does a great job. He listens carefully to what I say and he doesn’t juggle 2 clients at once. I have frequently been annoyed by other hair dressers because they are bouncing back and forth between two or more clients and I’m worried that my hair will be over-processed if the timing isn’t just right. I really appreciate that he straightens up and sweeps the salon while my hair is processing so he can more carefully monitor my hair. Also, he rarely keeps me waiting. My hair always looks great when I leave his salon. I feel that his prices are reasonable — I’ve paid less(but I was less happy with the result) but I’ve also paid much more. He is usually able to see me during the same week that I call for an appointment and he always tries to accommodate my schedule. I highly recommend Mitchell!
