We’ve worked with Mike Stein at McLean Mortgage for 12 years and several refinances. He and his team are amazing. Anyone can save you money on the loan but I think the service is what’s important. Mike is always involved and proactive in making sure that we have the right paperwork ready in time. He gets us great rates and great service. We are now using him to buy a new house with a VA loan. He actually worked with the sellers realtor to assure her that the VA loan would be fine and answered all of her questions. He’s also worked very closely with our realtor. I have also recommended Mike to many friends and all have been happy with him. I love working with him and his team.

Jason Moses at McLean Mortgage was amazing. He was easy to reach whenever I had questions, told me everything I needed to know, gave me options, ran numbers multiple ways, locked me in at a great rate… and when our buyer fell through and the rate lock expired, he was able to re-lock my rate at the SAME low rate. When things went south he stayed calm, rescued our deal, and showed up to closing with a smile. He closed our loan in 21 days, even with new federal laws which changed the way disclosures worked. The underwriting and processing teams at McLean stayed overtime to get our loan closed before the new year. I cant thank Jason and everyone at McLean enough!

TERRIBLE, ABSOLUTELYTERRIBLE. If you don’t want to read through the entire review, just know that it was an absolutely abysmal time dealing with Mclean Mortgage Corporation. Lack of communication, detail and transparency. Completely incompetent mortgage loan officers who don’t care about you, constantly screw up and try and blame you in the end. Just stay away. Here’s the full review: I went with Mclean Mortgage Corporation because my realtor recommended them as her company is linked business-wise with theirs. I thought, what’s the worst that could happen? They’re just another mortgage company. Well, I was wrong. Absolutely wrong. I won’t say the name of my mortgage«specialist», but she was absolutely terrible. I knew it was going to be a rough time when she spelled MORTGAGE wrong in one of her first emails. I thought, «huh, a mortgage loan officer who can’t spell mortgage…». It wasn’t so much the incorrect spelling that got me, but what it showed was a complete lack of attention to detail and thoroughness. And my first instinct was correct. I spoke with her initially and told her that this was my first house purchase ever, and that I’d need good explanations and details in the whole process. She said no problem. Wrong. Throughout the entire mortgage process, her disorganized and incompetent manner showed constantly and it was quite unnerving. Not answering emails or calls, extremely short emails with zero explanation loaded with grammatical and spelling errors, incorrect information and PRICES on closing disclosures which she failed to correct(even though she said she would), trying to have me sign incorrect documents, saying she didn’t get emails/attachments when I clearly sent it to her with proof, saying I didn’t sign documents when I clearly did with proof, etc. All of these things ultimately led to me almost not meeting my closing date. For example, I met with her in person to sign the initial closing disclosures. I pointed out that my work address was incorrect and that I did not want owner’s title insurance. She annotated these discrepancies and said that she would have them fixed by the next closing disclosure. Long story short, she did not fix them and wanted me to sign the disclosures which I refused. I asked her to do her job and get me the correct documents to sign. Another instance, I received a closing disclosure from a different person at the company which had me owing over $ 1k at closing when I was supposed to be owed money. She tried to get me to sign the disclosures by saying that it was only an «estimate» and that they would be fixed by the final. Well being in the military, I was always told that when you sign something, you are taking responsibility for whatever you are signing for. I didn’t care that it was an «estimate», I was still not signing a document saying that I owed money when I most certainly did not. For some reason, she didn’t understand this concept. Maybe her other clients sign things without reading them, but I don’t and I wasn’t playing this game. Not with the biggest purchase of my life. No Sir. One last example. I agreed to electronically sign disclosures for ease for the both of us. She sent me the disclosures and I reviewed and electronically signed them. Apparently there were 5 documents for me to e-sign and I was supposed to print/sign/scan some others in, I did not know this, it was not relayed to me. Hmmm, sounds to me like that defeats the purpose of e-signing documents. Anyways, because of her lack of communication, that portion took longer than it was supposed to, thus possibly delaying my closing date. She had the audacity to tell me that I might not meet my closing date to which I responded with a lengthy email stating that I had done everything asked of me, responded to emails/requests in a timely manner, signed/returned all documents in a timely manner, and provided all requested materials in a timely manner. I pointed out her lack of detail and communication was a huge factor in this turbulent relationship and that if I did not meet my closing date and if the seller held me legally responsible, I would do the same for Mclean Mortgage Corporation. Well, I’m supposed to close tomorrow; we’ll see how it goes. So far, it has been an absolutely abysmal first-time homebuying process dealing with Mclean Mortgage Corporation. I’d stay away, that’s my opinion.

Despicable and shady dealings with this mortgage company. They are basically a reseller of loans so don’t expect to do business with them long. After the first month they sold my loan to another company in California! Which by the way was a nightmare to re-setup my mortgage payment with them because they are basically a loan clearing house. Don’t read this as if I had bad credit so they just decided to off load the loan. I have a 840 credit score and they used my good credit standing to parlay that into making more money off my highly secured loan value. DONOT lend with them, you will regret this decision. I learned my lesson and will never do business with a loan company that just flips loans over to another crappy clearinghouse company.

I had a home mortgage with this company and it was a huge mistake. The loan officer mislead me on numerous items, and failed to disclose fees on our second loan. They were slow, disorganized and cost us heaps of money. Do not go with them for home mortgage unless you want to be lied to.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience working with Leslie Wish and Jon Mukai at McLean Mortgage. As a first time homebuyer, I needed a lot of things explained to me and wanted to move methodically through the process. Leslie was willing to take it slow when it came to helping me learn, but wow did her team move fast when it came to processing my loan! I was kept informed every moment of the way. I loved the option to «float» my interest rate. I appreciated how respected the McLean name was among my realtors and potential sellers. The process couldn’t have been better. A final note — when I told Leslie I hoped to close on my house on my birthday(about 25 days away), I didn’t know if the McLean team — or anyone — could come through so fast. She sure did — and gave me a bottle of wine as a birthday gift at the closing. Leslie is both competent and classy. Recommended!

I’ve used McLean Mortgage for several loans/refis in the last few years, and there’s a reason I keep going back: consistently superb service, very transparent and honest, and wise guidance. Specifically, I work with Robert Rudd in the Fair Lakes office, and you couldn’t ask for a better adviser. He presents options and then helps you to zero in on the best fit, given your specific goals & needs. The difference between he and the rest is that he cares about those he works for, and he loves doing it. I recommend wholeheartedly.
