We visited Dr. Cheng on a Saturday morning when I had a very bad stomach pain and almost rushed to the emergency room in INOVA hospital. The doctor is full of experience and very professional and nice. He gave me some testing pills and after one dose, the symptom was gone. The waiting without advanced appointment was about 1 hour(much better than ER).

This is the doctor for Mandarin fobs, which shouldn’t surprise me since my folks referred me. One of the two receptionists doesn’t speak a lick of English, though the doctor himself is capable of doing so. Talk about a crash course in refreshing my vocab. Cash only copays. Bowl of Halloween candy by the walkout counter. I think I waited about half an hour with one appointment running late ahead of me, but there were tons of magazines to peruse and only one sheet of paperwork to fill out. Yay for them taking Anthem insurance. His office was very unassuming, ditto the exam room next door. Very paternal attitude(I’m letting the comment about dressing warmer slide since he didn’t know I just spent the night moving), old school in his techniques. Checked my lung sounds and lymph nodes, noted my low blood pressure and the swollen node. You know the doctor scenes in Requiem for a Dream where the doc never looks up from his clipboard when the mom has appointments? This guy is the polar opposite from that, he’s very intent to diagnose symptoms properly. I was almost surprised to see him skip the height/weight measurements, though I guess I didn’t look enough out of the average BMI to worry about dosage adjustments. Oddly located building, but there are signs pointing back to Route 50 and elsewhere. The two elevators up from the lobby are catty-cornered, so you can generally pick your poison since the floor lights are available on that level only. I’ll probably be back, this guy has a way better attitude than my current physician. I’m told walk-ins are accepted, but definitely schedule ahead if possible. (This review dedicated to Jeff W. now that I’ve broken my negative nancy streak.)
