Great spot to wait out the heinous weekday afternoon gridlock traffic. Comfy couches, good espresso and tea. Took awhile to get our order, but we were here to kill time, so no biggie. Drinks were delicious. Our barista was a very nice Asian dude. Looks like he was the only one working here. Seems like they have a few regulars. He knew them by name and offered up a friendly greeting when they walked in the door.

love this coffee shop! perfect to come in for a relaxing time alone or with a friend. the quality of their coffee is great. the owner and barista are welcoming and kind. they asked if we were doing okay and if the coffee was good(knowing that it was our first time here). i stayed here for about 2 – 3 hours and had the greatest time catching up with a friend. they have more than enough outlets for charging, wifi, comfortable seating. please make another 29th parallel in alexandria! :)

Yassss. Espresso-Tonic. LOVE. It was exactly what one would expect when ordering an espresso-tonic beverage. It was sweet but not too sweet. Perfectly carbonated with a nice espresso flavor. There were many other items on the menu I wanted to try but I stuck with order. Ill definitely be back to try out some other items. The gentleman that took my order was kind. The place is small and cute. Parking can be a bit of a pain because it can get pretty packed in the area but that’s not the establishments fault.

Absolutely adore this place and the coffee is great! I always try and pay a visit when I am close by. Amir, one of the owners and the guy who is usually there making your coffee is a fantastic person. Always have a good time chatting with him. My son, who is only five loves this place also and looks forward to seeing Amir make the perfect cup of coffee. If you go here often, you will notice that the customers are regulars. Amir knows each and everyone of them and what they want as soon as they walk in the door :) This says a lot! Overall, a very cozy and welcoming place! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Amir, one of the owners and baristas, is an expert at his craft. He understands coffee and can disseminate his knowledge to the layperson in a comprehensible way. He can make an incredible pour-over: he doesn’t rush it, and he can time it perfectly. Conclusion: once you frequent this establishment you won’t be able to go back to «fast food» coffee(e.g., Starbucks, Duncan donuts, etc). B

Unassuming and fairly incognito, you wouldn’t think this little coffee shop, nestled in between Smashburger and Hair by Lynn, would be grinding decent coffee. But 29th Parallel Coffee and Tea offers fantastic pour overs, espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, affogatos, and teas! You can tell that Amir, the owner, and his team care very much about making a good cup of Joe for every person that walks through the door. They are friendly, passionate, and dedicated to the art of coffee making. You can watch them work their magic behind the counter; the pour overs are particularly fascinating! I ordered a honey latte and it was divine. One of the best lattes I’ve had. The pour over was also very, very good. They have a decent number of tables and even a few couches to relax in. One row of tables by the wall has outlets so you can charge your electronics and utilize their free Wi-Fi for work and play. I spent an hour here sipping my latte and studying, and I didn’t feel rushed by the staff or guilty for occupying space. Most folks take their coffees to go anyways, but it’s a nice,(for the most part) quiet place to read/study/work. I would definitely come back for more coffee and tea, and I would highly recommend this place to friends!

Free wifi and delicious drinks! The only downsides are that the service isn’t very quick and there is limited seating on a busy afternoon. But if you’re a coffee/tea lover in no rush, definitely check this place out. If you’re in the mood for a cold sweet drink, I highly recommend getting the mango lassi.

fan of this spot — they sell intelligentsia coffee, great owner and nice vibes — it’s always nice seeing more of these coffee shops popping up around VA(they’re a dime a dozen in nyc/la, but really lacking here!). note: their green match tea late is currently unavailable(I went in asking for it from seeing the pictures on Unilocal), but may be back up in a few weeks! Will be back and also, they have strong wifi here so there were a great number of people working/studying from there(including me!)

29 was missing something — a high way that stretched 4 miles but no coffee shop and that’s where 29th Parallel Coffee & Tea comes to the rescue! Amazing drip coffee, lattes and staff. big glass windows letting in the sun– great for an afternoon tea and book. background music is often jazzy and classics. power outlets are only on one end of the tables so be sure to find it before you claim a table if you’re going to do work and need ample charging. they sell the Chemex drip coffee glass for less than Amazon! check in on Unilocal for $ 1 off coffee. tea

29th Parallel is very unassuming and(thankfully) lacks the pretentiousness of specialty coffee shops. The owner is very knowledgeable about coffee and chats it up with his usual patrons. He’s got a great pourover set up and selection of beans from Intelligentsia. I ordered the Matalapa(El Salvador) beans. The space is a bit small but has plenty of seating(couches/tables indoors as well as outdoor seating). The music is very low so it’s actually a nice place to have conversations with friends.(I couldn’t help overhear part of a couple’s first date conversation…) In short, pay Amir a visit and plan to hangout for a bit!

29th Parallel is an exceptional spot and one of the few strip mall locations I have ever been in that really has that comfortable independent coffee shop air about it, where you can lose yourself in a book and a good beverage. The space is pleasant and airy without being cold, with good seating and good light. After reading many reviews that spoke only of coffee, I came here in the hopes of a good cup of tea and was entirely happy with my options. There is a good selection of tea from Rishi, and the owner knows enough about tea to make it properly and talk to you about what you might want if you’re uncertain. This is great especially because the menu board hadn’t been updated for what teas were and were not on hand, and he let me know he had a few teas that weren’t on the list. He was a bit apologetic about needing a few minutes to make my beverage, indicating the coffees he was preparing for other people who had gotten there first, but to me this is a sign of quality and care. The only issue here is that the snacks are not allergy-friendly.

Great pourover coffees, great espresso, great communication when there are coffees to be made ahead of yours. I go back again and again.

I like finding small coffee shops to study at, so having this one open nearby was very convenient. Whenever I go, the crowds aren’t big so I usually can find seating. The owner seems to always be the one working, but he is very polite and communicates with many of his customers. I wish there were some more selections for food, but that’s okay. My go-to drink would be the caramel macchiato with almond milk, and his latte art designs are very simple, yet still visually appealing. I don’t like my coffee being too sweet, so this order is just the perfect default(especially with another shot of espresso). The big windows make the room appear more spacious, and during the summer, drinking outdoors under the umbrellas can be relaxing! The only thing I’m not really a fan of would be the opening hours, since I study for long periods of time and I personally think the closing times are inconsistent and that they close way too early on some days!

Three stars alone just because it is not Starbucks. It is kind of small but never got to the point it was so crowded you had trouble finding a seat. Iy was quiet and i like how the music playing was not too loud. The tea was good. They steeped it for me and in got my own pot. There was only one person working so i had to wait a while to get my tea. At one point he left to buy a gallon of milk from 711. Haha

Not sure how I missed writing a review for this place… I’ve stopped in here a few times. I usually stop in on my way or after leaving Patriot Harley-Davidson — which is just down the road… I’ve had their dark roast coffee, as well as double shots of espresso. I particularly liked their espresso last time I was in. It had this yummy, roasted, slightly oily, delicious flavor to it. I inhaled it all before I even got out of the parking lot! Service and staff were good!

My coffee connoisseur friends swear by this place, so I have been here a few times. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, and as such, had never heard of pour over coffee until coming here. Turns out it’s quite good. Upon walking in, you are greeted by the wonderful aroma and even when they are busy(as they have been each time I have been there) the staff is quite friendly. I like their mocha and I love the design the barista pours into the top of the froth. I have to say though, I feel that they are under staffed. It’s a small shop, but from what I have seen it does a fair amount of business and I feel like there is only ever one person behind the counter; which makes them have to scramble to fill orders. Other than that it’s exactly what you would want out of a coffee shop. Good product, nice vibe, friendly people.

Its a very nice coffee shop. The vanilla latte is awesome. Though they dont have a huge menu but they do have a quality one. The biscutty was just awesome with the coffee. Must Recommended !

All the fun little tidbits and facts have already been brought up numerous times, so no reason for me to repeat. What this coffee shop has that Starbucks doesn’t have is personalization, an ever changing menu of specialty brews based on coffee bean, a multitude of ways of preparation(pour overs, cold press, French press, etc.) a living room type atmosphere and well, soul. You walk-in and are instantly greeted by lovely aromas that caress your nostrils with caffeine and complicated flavors that comprise of the amazing coffee you are about to order. You NEED coffee now, your mouth salivates for that bitter with a hint of velvety sweetness that is provided without fail every time you order your favorite brew… Mine just happens to be mocha. :p the best mocha in the world thus far and the fact they do the latteart in my cup makes me grin like a five year old. This open floor plan of a shop invites you to sit at the bar and watch the magic unfold and then because you end up having some great form of conversation, you now end up hanging out pleasantly pleased when an hour has passed and you realized the time was worth it… Will I go back you ask? But of course, just never when I’m in a rush, this is a destination, not a fast food drive thru. :)

I tried this place on a saturday afternoon with my boyfriend and I would give this place 5 stars. They still doing the promotion, buy one get one free if you check in on Unilocal,so do that before you purchase anything. This one located in fairfax and I believe its in a new shopping center. Parking can be hard to find on the weekend, so expect to circle around if you can’t find for the first time. I ordered the vanilla latte(with artwork) and my boyfriend ordered macciato. I love the artwork they did on my latte since I know the barista tried hard for that(before I ordered I ask for the latte with artwork and he jokingly said«now I have so much pressure» and I just smiled). Regardless if artwork was a little mess up, I still give him credits that he tried to make it perfect since he knew it was my first time. I would definitely come back to try other coffee on the menu. The place was not crowded therefore it was a good time just to sit there and gossip and enjoy the cup of coffee. If you do not want to stand around to wait for coffee, you can definitely find a table and sit and wait, the barista will actually bring it to you when he’s done with it. Overall it is a good place to try and the price is around 3.95 for a cup of vanilla latter, so if you have the promotion, it is not bad at all.
