While the costume selection and overall quality of the rentals at Capital Costumes was very nice, the customer service was terrible. The women working at the shop were very rude to me. I’d be hard-pressed to return there again.

Our first time visiting this place but it will definitely not be our last! We found a nice selection of costumes to either buy or rent. All price ranges too. But what was most impressive was the customer service! Truly helpful staff with great attitudes and lots of patience. The King Henry XIII I costume I rented was top notch as was the Mrs queen outfit. Great service, great products and fair prices. It’s easy to see why this place has been in business for so long.

I just bought a new pair of tap shoes and can’t wait to break them in I have always gotten my dancewear and shoes here since I was little. I have donated, rented and bought costumes in the past. I love the owners, it is a family business that dates way way back(check out their website!).

Great customer service. Tons of costumes to pick from and the availability in various sizes is impressive. My go to place for school plays and projects, and of course, Halloween!

Took a college ballet class, this place was recommended and i understand why! Staff was super helpful for a beginner ballet student! They were very patient, knowledgeable and experienced! They have everything a beginner needs! I am going back again!

I was very disappointed with the lack of follow through and customer service at Captial Costumes. During my first visit, I found the perfect Leo for my daughter’s dance recital, unfortunately, it was labeled J12, not her size. The lady behind the counter said she would call the warehouse to check for a 5⁄6 and call me back first thing Monday morning to let me know if they could get it in her size. No one called Monday or Tuesday, so I called back Wednesday. I explained the situation and the employee said, «Oh, I thought someone called you, we don’t have anymore in the warehouse.»(no apology for not returning my call) Half a hour later she called me back to say that a 5⁄6 had been found on another rack. I drove back out Capital Costumes only to find that the Leo that had been ‘found’ on another rack was the exact Leo we had see the other day. When I explained this she tells me that a J12 is a 5/6, but different brands use different numbers to size. There was no apology for the fact that I had been misinformed about the sizing, had to drive out to the store twice, etc. It was obvious the lady behind the counter could CARELESS about my patronage. She was rude, dismissive and lacked the most basic customer service skills!

I know several costume shops in the area: this place is the BESTOFTHELOT! i get kind of squeamish in a costume shop — they tend to be dark, and jumbled and. well. kinda creepy.(sometimes that’s just because they specialize in halloween or horror stuff, but that doesn’t help those of us with claustrophobia) Went to Capitol for the first time a few weeks ago. Someone with a SMILE on her face(shocker! a person that enjoys her work!) came out to help us instantly. Told her what we wanted, she reached for the perfect item. we were in and out in 20 minutes(had to try it on, and a second choice just to make sure.) What a pleasant experience! The store is light filled, neat, and absolutely complete: they probably have the best selection of technical makeup in the area. LOVETHISPLACE!

Best costume rentals! This is the second year we’ve rented costumes from Capitol. Last year, I went as a modest lil red ridding hood and the costume was authentic, it was like an adult child costume — not a sleazy stripper version. Quality with thick lining and kept me warm through out the evening. 1 day rental = $ 65, so they are on the high side. I’ve never rented before and last year was the first. This year, I went as a super skanky Robin hood aka Robin-whore :D, my date went as the evil King John, he rented his costume from Capitol and he was the hit of the party. His costume looked absolutely authentic and people were stopping him left and right for a photo opportunity. They have a ridiculous selection of costumes, 100’s in all sizes, hand crafted, one of kind(so no worries about bumping into a clon — if you do, you will win) Again his rental was $ 65. They also make you put down a $ 150 deposit, I’ve never had a problem getting the deposit back, but that is expensive. It would be nice if they did a returning renters plan or punch card or something. Also, they have shoes and tons of crazy faux facial hair, wigs, accessories.

Pricey at times but when they are having a sale — jump quickly. All the mom’s from Ovations Dance which is next door go in and buy everything up. The staff is friendly and usually helpful. If it’s not there they can find if for you.
