Owner still parking his van right in front, hogging a precious customer parking spot. And on a warm Saturday in February when a gazillion people are out and about looking to spend some money downtown. The epitome of selfish and uncaring of his customers and fellow downtown merchants. Plenty of other sandwich choices in town like Green Bean(excellent), Me and Ollies(excellent), and Hammersmith(excellent). All with much bigger servings than this joint.

Yum. Yum. Yum. And, yum! My friend and I were roaming around a very chilly downtown Exeter when we stumbled upon Billingsgate and had to go inside to see what they had to offer. They make a variety of quirky and delicious sandwiches. We tried the Bronx Bomber(salami, brisket, swiss and coleslaw) and a huge piece of their vegetable lasagna. Wow. So delicious! We snarfed it down in the car once we had one bite. They also carry interesting items like spices to make your own hot toddy drinks(yes, I purchased it). The place was fairly busy but I felt like our order didn’t take too long– I’m not sure how packed it gets at lunch time on a busy weekday though. Prices were a little higher than I’d normally spend but the food is worth it. The people behind the counter were super friendly and even knew some of the customers which I love to see. I(gasp) did not try the coffee but it looked like they had a few to choose from. This may be a must stop the next time we have an hour to kill wandering around Exeter!

Gret little deli. Stopped in while waiting for a nearby business owner to open up so I could make a delivery. Grabbed a soda but the place smelled so good, and everything in the case looked great. Very friendly and cozy. Hopefully my delivery schedule will take me by the place again, I will definately be stopping in for a sammich and an update!

Great food, great deli. I go to Billingsgate at least once a month to get my favorite sandwich«The New Yorker» — heated. The melted cheese with the cold Carolina coleslaw on top makes the sandwich. They have a small counter where you can read the paper(conveniently tacked on the wall) and a few tables to sit with friends. Try it out — you can’t go wrong !
