Zippy’s Ewa

This review is long over due for the worst experience I had a month ago. I’ve gone to this zippys probably a few times in passing through to Ewa so it wasn’t my first time here. We decided to go here after the Bubble Run for lunch. I get that it was busy but customer service could have been a little better. Took half an hour just to get waters or anything on our table. I was literally in dying thirst for some water all around. Our server was no where to be found. She dropped off the other coke beverages but no water. We kept trying to get the attention of a server but no one was willing to look our way. I finally asked a server who passed by for water and she said I had to wait for our server. I really just wanted water. I don’t understand how another server can’t possibly just bring me a cup of water.
That already just put me in a bad mood when there were other servers just standing around not checking tables to see if there was anything customers would need especially the Host that day who was just talking away to the person at the bakery. Food took another 45 minutes or so for us to finally eat. All the take out orders have gotten theirs way quicker than we did. We would have gotten our food if we just placed a take out order. Our server wasn’t’ even checking up on us or updating us of when our food will be out. We just waited an hour and a half in hunger.
We ordered mushroom burger that came out burnt and not flavorful and I order won ton min. I ordered chili cheese fries without beans and it still came out with beans. We didn’t even try to have them redo it because we didn’t want to wait any longer. Then she forgets to give me my lilikoi drink that came way after all the food came out. Maybe we just came at a bad time on an off day… next time I’ll just take out.

Food was good. Service was great as well.
Lady at the counter seemed kinda grouchy but that’s okay. People don’t know how to use the sign in sheet. Aside from that we were seated promptly :)
Walls are covered in paintings as well as our seats were organized and clean. We were given a seat which I honestly don’t mind but I do like being given choices.
Sat down and me and my girlfriend ordered Korean fried chicken which honestly is my personal recommendation! Sometimes the portion may not be consistent when it comes from certain locations but that’s alright Ewa Zippys does a good job at giving me enough that I can eat :)
Always asked for refills on water and our check was rung up quick. Great place for breakfast lunch or dinner !

Very disappointed! After a hard days of work all we ever want to do as hard workers is RELAX and part of that process is getting take out food to make things easier and the clean up process faster. This wasn’t the case tonight. My mother and I came in and ordered a bucket of chili and an oriental chicken salad (we are regulars so we know the portion sizes and what it comes with). The salad that we got was NOT worth the price of almost $ 9. The bowl that it came in was only half way filled and the garlic bread was the smallest piece ever (the butt of the loaf). To top it off the bucket of chili that we got had a few pieces of hair in it, I’m not sure if it’s from the cooks or the workers that are packing the food in the front, but from all the employees that I’ve seen I haven’t seen ANY of them wear hair nets. Not to mention we waited 15 – 25 just for a bucket of chili and a salad and paid almost $ 45 for our order! The lady that came in 10 minutes after us made her order which was a barrel of chicken and got it within a minute. Wtf?! So yes our night was frankly quite ruined! Really dissatisfied.

Not impressed with the food. The steamed sea bass I ordered was luke warm by the time it came out and tasted plain or «fishy» in certain areas and felt mushy (overcooked). It also looked as unappetizing as it tasted. The oil was nasty and accumulated all around the fish (supposed to be sizzling oil but it was a goopy, thick mess) and after a few bites, I just couldn’t stomach it and at $ 16.15 (or $ 16.95??), a hard price to pay for something that I couldn’t eat. Since I was still hungry, I asked for a small saimin instead. Can’t go wrong with that except that the char siu was rubbery hard so I didn’t eat both pieces (couldn’t eat them). Hubby ordered oxtail soup since he has a cold and man, that’s a small bowl with minimal broth. Service was slow but not to the point of being unbearable but the food… not sure if it was an off night but man, it was subpar! The banana cream pie came out looking like it had fallen but tasted good but it failed on presentation. I don’t expect a five star dining experience at Zippy’s but even this seemed to be below Zippy’s standards. Won’t be back at this location for a loooooooong time!

Trust me when I say we’ve been here hundreds of time! My expectations with fast food isn’t particularly the same as I would expect with a five star restaurant. So reading some reviews are a little exaggerated IMO but who am I anyway right?! LOL but they are consistently nice and food is always of same quality no matter time/​day/​worker/​cook/​etc.
Just showing love for my go-​to take out/​dine in restaurant!

Zippy’s probably deserve more than the two stars I’m giving, but the only thing they excel and exceed of getting 5 stars is for being a big let down! This is my second review and from what I remember, the last visit wasn’t far of a difference.
This time I ordered the Katsu saimin as I oddly craved for a «zippy’s saimin» with side order fries. I have requested to put aside the chicken and the happy camper me ended after that. The soup was below average. The whole thing quickly turned cold before 5 mins of arriving on my table. The fries were half fried and didn’t notice probably because of how I ate both back to back. My sister on the other hand was ahead of me and mentioned the inside weren’t thoroughly cooked.
I cannot speak in my party’s behalf, but as a paying customer, I felt the oxtail soup I had for take out (not for me) was way overpriced for $ 16.95! Imagine the container they usually place their oxtail, that was the serving content. It probably only had 3 oxtail inside with bunch of unnecessary peanuts.
It’s hard to tell, but I may have to avoid this place for as much as I can. Every visit has gone from bad to worst.

Came here around 7 something didn’t get my food till 8:20 the food is good but I don’t like the fact that there was about 5 – 7 people standing around the counter doing nothing I think they should hire more cooks and less counter help. shoot I wouldn’t mind working their just to stand there and look lost and get paid!

Not cool… seriously!!! 35min for onion rings, grilled cheese and loco moco. Lots of counter help standing around waiting for food from the back. Checked on my order, onion rings and grilled cheese ready and sitting at the counter waiting on the loco moco. By the time loco moco was done, onion rings and grilled cheese cold. Thought about asking for fresh ones but by the time I get that, my loco moco cold already. Finally getting to eat and the food was gross. $ 20 I’ll never get back. Über disappointed. Next stop ain’t gonna be zippys.

Horrible service, found hair in my friends spaghetti, ordered a zip pac and they took forever. What’s so hard about making a zip pac?

Our experiences at this Zippy’s have only been for their counter breakfast service not the full-​service side. We usually come here to grab a quick bite before heading to a tee time out in the Ewa Beach area. The food is consistent in its preparation, flavors and presentation. Service has always been friendly and quick.
On the morning of December 28^th, we came into the restaurant around 7:30 AM. As soon as the doors slid open, we were cheerfully greeted by the two female workers. They wore great smiles and eagerly assisted us. After placing our order, we received an order number and took a seat. Within minutes, our number was called and our order for the Portuguese sausage breakfasts came out hot and fresh! We like that they offered a choice of rice (white or brown) or toast (white or wheat) with the meal.
I’d like to commend the breakfast crew for their friendly and expeditious service. All of the tables and seats were clean and wiped down which made for a comfortable experience, too. Zippy’s does local fast food RIGHT!

I’ve been here more times than I can count (not by choice) and the food here is average. The portions that they give are not very consistent. They have two sizes of plate lunch orders. Mini size which is the serving size it should be for one adult and a regular size which is the larger size of a mini but with a slightly larger amount of money. Some portions they give on some meals will leave you satisfied whereas other portions will still leave you hungry. The service here is ok. You often have to ask for service rather than expect it. The prices are expensive. For three adults, I had to pay $ 40 for three plate lunches. Definitely not worth the price for the food.
I ordered their spaghetti with garlic bread, chili moco, roast pork, and Hawaiian plate. I have ordered frequently there expecting better everytime and they always have disappointed me. For example, I have ordered food yesterday for dinner for my family and they got the order wrong (again!). The orders were correct but the food that was inside the plate lunch were the sizes of a mini rather than a regular size. The food they make is filling but not delicious. All of their food they make is average at best.
If you want almost equal food with cheaper prices and more consistent food portions, I suggest L&L Drive Inn down the street off of Ft Weaver road instead.

It was Christmas Day & me, my mom & dad decided to eat at zippy’s. The guy took out order, read it back to us correctly, but when we sat down in the dine in we realized our order was messed up. I ordered a plain cheeseburger, and when I opened it it was jst the patty and buns. Like wtf? I wanted a PLAIN CHEESE BURGER. My dads order had it the worst cuz his was a burger with no cheese also. My mom had to go back to them 3 times, 3 TIMES!!! Because they kept messing up our order. Not eating here ever again since we practically waited almost half an hour for them to make our order!!!

Again, minus a star for the Crew working on ¹²⁄₂₀ at 7:30 PM.
Ordered a plain saimin via drive thru because my sick daughter wanted it.
Came home only to find that we were given noodles and about a teaspoon of broth. Not sure how hard it is to properly pack a takeout saimin, let alone do a quality check before moving on to the next guest in line.
Will stick to packaged ramen from now on. At least I know I won’t screw it up and waste my money.

You’re better off doing a phone order. I mean yeah they was busy, so I figured I’d cut them some slacks. But man, some of these works rlly need to work on smiling and customer service. None of the workers were friendly at all this night. While waiting for our food, we could see the cooks! An Asian girl was smacking her gum while prepping the food? Which looked very disgusting, I almost walked out. (Who knows what if that gum would fall out of her mouth and went into the food) Personally, I dont mind gum chewing but if you smack it and chew it w your mouth wide open that is VERY VERY DISGUSTING
Our food took 30 minutes. Then they got forgot one if our plates Went back, and none of the workers would turn around to help me. (They seen me thru the mirror they have above them) I had to, say excuse me atleast 3 times.

Don’t even try to phone order a zip min! You have to actually go inside to order it. Doesn’t make any sense, and the girl on the phone could not provide a plausible reason why I had to go inside to order. Isn’t it one kitchen? Why do you have a drive thru?! Fail! Zippys better up your game. Went to Daiichi instead!
Update: thanks for the clarification regarding the two kitchens for dine in and for take out. But what’s so hard about taking a phone order for the dine-​in kitchen and walking it 100 feet to the drive thru window for your customer?

This is my favorite Zippy’s location on the island. Why, you might ask? They have amazing customer service, always fast and they make the order right. Even on the weekends there usually isn’t a wait. We are in and out, fed and happy in 30 mins. If you don’t live in Ewa this location is obviously way out of the way. My favorite is the loco moco. They used to offer fried rice with it but recently it’s only been white or brown. Still ono either way! The waitresses refill the coffee without missing a beat.
I previously had an unpleasant experience at another location. The Zippy’s PR is beyond amazing, she quickly resolved my complaint and was very kind and understanding. Whenever we have guests visit the island we always go here for breakfast. The donuts are delish also, grab some to go.

The counter where the food comes out of the kitchen, was full of food that was getting COLD??? No one was aware of this except the patrons that were waiting for their meals. Now where was all the help??? ONE guy was trying to do his best, taking orders, manning the bakery, and making cold drinks. Does anyone have the common sense and initiative to help this guy out to get the food out??? Where was the manager??? who is supposed to step in to HELP??? Now the bottom line was: my pork cutlet did NOT have any gravy! Loose money these guys!!! Gravy is automatic!

So Ono. Have to order the fried rice as an extra. If not comes with white rice. Gotta try all three.
This dish with a side glazed donut is $ 6+ well worth it

Call-​in ordering is easy and advised so that when you get there you can pay and leave.
The daily specials are good and some are really good, like the beef stroganoff. The soup specials are really good too. Order garlic bread on the side and with the soup makes a good meal and really hits the spot.

Ain’t nothing zippy about Zippy’s. I doubt the staff would move any quicker even if the joint was on fire. To add insult to injury, the food blows. How can Original House of Pancakes, a mainland chain, make a better pancakes and Portuguese sausage breakfast than Zippy’s, a Hawaiian chain? Freaking despicable.
