I recently went for coffee with friends. We had originally met at the coffee shop across the street and that shop was full. We walked across to Kari’s to see what we thought. It is rather plain as others have said. But the gal behind the counter was very nice and polite and helpful. We were all glad to find a restaurant that was willing to let you sit and have regular coffee and a wonderful cookie from the bakery. We ended up staying quite awhile and even had refills on our coffee.(You serve yourself style). As we sat we started watching others food served and it all looked good. We were then aware of the complete menu and pleased to see you could get breakfast even late in the day. We also checked out the cake decorating books. Very pleased and plan to go back. One of the gals in my group said she was coming back to order cakes also. Give them a try unless you really like the atmosphere of expensive coffee drinks at Starbucks.

My husband and I got our wedding cake here and it was overall a pretty good experience and we would order a cake from Karl’s again. We wanted to save money so we did a small round cake to cut and then 3 half sheet cakes. I had planned on having the sheet cakes cut behind the scenes so I didn’t really care what they looked like but Mike insisted on decorating them. I’m glad that they did because they ended up looking nice enough to display on the dessert table. He had us pick out quotes to put on each cake and choose colors and I was satisfied with the decorations. The price was also good; to get enough cake to feed about 110 people would have been close to $ 1,000 if we did one big cake and we ended up paying about $ 425 for everything. We got pink champagne cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting for one half sheet cake and for our little round cake, one half sheet of the marbled cake with raspberry filling and chocolate butter cream frosting and one half sheet of the basic white cake with lemon filling and vanilla butter cream frosting. We went to a tasting when we placed our order and they had all of the fillings and frosting flavors on a plate and then cupcakes of each cake flavor made when we got there. It was nice being able to try everything out. I think the tasting is $ 10 if you don’t end up ordering a cake but free if you order something. The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because some of the communication between us and Mike(the owner?) was a little difficult at times. First he kind of implied that the delivery might be difficult because he had a bunch of other deliveries that day and he started talking about where all of the other weddings were, how big the other cakes were, etc. I didn’t really care to know about the other deliveries and felt like«well, we’re paying you to deliver it so figure it out, we don’t want to stress out about that.» Then when I emailed him about the cake decorations I sent 2 pictures that showed a gold foiled look on top of the frosting and he called and said I was confusing him and he needs just one picture even though I said in the email«these are examples of how we’d like to add some gold color to the cakes.» He asked us to come in since he was mixed up about the gold foil-look and kept talking about how I was confusing him when I send more than one picture for a single cake. I didn’t think it was very complicated but whatever. Then he asked if I’d just buy the gold foil stuff from Michaels because they only had gold frosting which I thought was a little weird. I bought 3 different gold items, not knowing which one would look the best and also asked that he add the gold to the sheet cakes which never happened and he didn’t give back the ones they didn’t use like I asked. It was only about $ 20 so it’s not that big of a deal. Overall we were satisfied. The cakes arrived on time, looked good and tasted pretty good(though they were a little heavy on the frosting and they could have been a little bit less sweet) and everyone seemed to enjoy them. My husband and I have also gone there for donuts and cookies and we’ve always been happy with those. Overall I’d recommend Karl’s to someone looking for a bakery to do their wedding cake.

Had their ‘2 Eggs, Hash browns & Toast with Bacon’ breakfast this morning. I’m generally impressed with the quality of the restaurants in the area and Karl’s is also pretty good. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy but not cramped. Coffee was average and self-service, which is sort of like a soda fountain-style feature but for coffee. The bacon is a little less-hearty(thin, but crispy) than other place’s offerings but still had a good taste. Since this is a bakery I was looking forward to their sourdough toast but it turned out to be just your generic store-variety bread. Great hash browns. I also enjoyed one of their giant custard-filled donuts which was also good. Parking is excellent if you get there early.

For my 30th birthday my sisters ordered a custom Care Bear cake and it was amazing! So cute and most importantly it was delicious. My sister used Karl’s for cupcakes at her wedding and they were also very good. I will definitely be ordering some more treats from Karl’s. :)

Having been raised in a poor, factory city I tend to get disappointed when I walk into a bakery and see half bare shelves and display cases. With that said I can tell you that what Karl’s seems to lack in volume it more than makes up for in QUALITY and TASTE. The cookie selection was a great start and I loved the German Chocolate cookie. The peanut butter and jelly cookie was surprisingly awesome. It was rich pb cookie covered with jelly. Yum! Then I tried a donut. I only have praise for the cream filled donut I enjoyed. This was no light weight, barely filled, Safeway donut. This hefty offering gave quality and substance in every moist bite. The jelly donuts on display were colorful and appeared generously filled. I gave a cream filled donut to a friend and he announced that it was the best donut he had ever tasted. So there you go.

I’ve been a Larson’s customer for life and thought I’d try Karl’s for a Twins baby shower cake and it was delicious and gorgeous, a big hit. No hidden costs, done on time and I found the staff to be extremely friendly. We will go there again I’ll be ordering special cakes from Karl’s as well. Quality product AND service.

We ordered a banana-walnut cake here for my grandmother’s birthday. It was supposed to be their«specialty». First of all, they put the cake in a too small box despite us asking for a bigger one, the flowers on the top all got ruined. The actual cake was extremely dry and just gross, no one at the party enjoyed it. Even my 89 year old grandmother who can barely taste thought it was gross.

New Brides Beware — If you are thinking about getting your wedding cake here, don’t do it!!! One of the reasons I decided to purchase my wedding cake in 2013 because their website and the people that help me to order the cake told me that we will get the top tier free for our first year anniversary, I called them today and I was told that they don’t do it anymore. So I check on their website to verify the information I received from the store. The website says that they will give a complimentary cake for the first year anniversary as I copied and pasted the paragraph here with the copyright of 2014. I called back to the store and I was told by an employee rudely(well, we haven’t updated the website yet)… I think this misleading and fraudulent practice and I would not come back to this bakery ever again. Wedding Cake Pricing Although our order process is a one-on-one experience, you can get an idea of some of the options available and pricing guidelines here. We have price sheets broken down by cake shape: square, round, or heart-shaped, hexagonal-shaped layers are also available. Click here for a printer-friendly version of our Wedding cake price list(requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). Wondering about icing and filling choices? Choose from our many options. Don’t let these choices limit your imagination! We can work from photos you bring to us, mix shapes, or go in a different direction to create the perfect cake for your important day. Also, while you think about how many people your cake will feed, remember that you can count the top tier as well. Traditionally, the top tier of the wedding cake is saved in the freezer to be shared by the happy couple on their first anniversary, but at Karl’s, on your first wedding anniversary, you’ll receive a complimentary freshly decorated 6″ cake instead. Not impressed. I used to come here back when I went to Everett High. brought my boss here for breakfast this morning. took way too long for our food, and the quality was not at all what it used to be. for my boss, it took her 15 minutes to bring toast out after our food was already served cold. we ordered 2 waters as well and the lady didn’t even bother telling us that we had to get it ourselves. needless to say, this place is probably only good for donuts… as long as those haven’t changed from 10 years ago!

Okay — any bakery that has homemade treats for dogs for sale gets a thumbs up out of the gate. But then take one look at their Apple Fritters(and at THAT price ?!!) and you will instantly understand why I am a fan. Outdoor seating in the summer is a huge plus for me since I am always looking for a place where I can have breakfast in the middle of my morning walk with our SharPei. The Bakery is the star here. The ‘café’ is ok — nothing special but serviceable. But personally my expectations were met + more.

Good breakfast. Good donuts. My son loves the cookies. It’s a very low price for breakfast and very good. Lots of booths. Good espresso drinks. Eggs always cooked to my liking.

Karl’s Bakery was the artist and mastermind behind my wedding cake. My husband and I literally teared up when we saw how beautiful and perfectly made our wedding cake was. They were very accommodating with the specific requests we had. They never once fussed about any changes we requested. What’s amazing about Karl’s Bakery is that they encourage clients to return for their«one year anniversary» wedding cake… on the house :) And I must say, all of our guests were taken back on how moist, not overly sweet, and delicious our wedding cake was. I couldn’t be anymore proud! Thank you, Karl’s Bakery for making our dream wedding cake come to life!

I was caught in a pinch and needed a birthday cake in 2 hours for 8 people. Karl’s Bakery not only had cakes on hand, but 3 flavors to choose from. They stayed open an hour past closing so I could rush over to pick up, and even let me write my own message on the top of the cake! Needless to say the cake was a big hit, chocolate with raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream frosting. I will be back again!

I work in a bakery around the corner from Karl’s, so I decided to stop in and see how they compare. Based on appearance of the shop, it wasn’t very nice looking. It seemed kind of worn out and dirty. I was impressed with their amount of selection and prices of everything. I bought a pumpkin truffle, a turtle cookie, and a red velvet cupcake. It all came out to $ 5.00 which seemed reasonable. The service wasn’t that great because the woman behind the counter didn’t even know what flavors everything was and she could have been friendlier. Everything tasted great, although the cream cheese frosting on the cupcake could have been a little less sweet and it probably would have been better without the sugar crystals. Other than that, I was impressed. *also the size of the donuts were incredible! And for an amazing deal. I did not buy one though. I will be back! **update** I tried the massive apple fritter(split it with my brother) and it was everything I was expecting! Crispy outside, soft gooey inside. The only thing that’s keeping my review at a 4 instead of a 5 is the appearance of the shop. Seems to be dirty.

Here’s the deal, I can’t review them for their actual product which I am sure is fine, but one person is my concern which made me never want to deal with them. I called to get a cake for my son’s birthday. Thinking because they were a specialty shop they could complete my request. I asked the gal that answered the phone if they could do a peanut free cake… this was my response «Are you kidding? We are a bakery, we have nuts all over.» To that I thought – forget it. Not only was she condescending she was not even helpful. I would think as a longstanding bakery and with the uprising in children allergies they might at least have a referral process for a bakery that is allergy free. Instead the gal said it rudely and implied I was an idiot for even asking… Note to Karls: Gluten, wheat, peanut and other allergies in kids are on the rise. Find a way to adapt-and let your employees know to be kind – perhaps you will have repeat customers. If you had a nicer staff I might have been getting cakes only from you for the next 13 – 14 years and telling all my friends to as well.

I had a tad over 24 hours notice that my mom needed help getting a cake for my grandmothers 92nd birthday. I went to Karls with & less than 24 hours notice and they made a beautiful cake for us that I picked up the next day. After the birthday dinner the cake was served & several people passed. I had some even though I really don’t care for cake and OMG it was the BEST cake I’ve ever had! Everyone was saying how good it was so the people that originally passed got some too. There wasn’t a crumb left of a cake that feeds 22, we had a party of 14.

When we went to Karl’s we weren’t really sure what to expect. They are a bakery that serves breakfast and lunch as well. We grabbed breakfast and it was pretty good. Typical american breakfast, eggs were a bit of an odd taste due to I’m guessing using egg beaters but nothing bad. We also grabbed some pastries. The apple fritter in particular was awesome! I recommend everyone to grab one if they check this place out. If you are looking for something fancy this isn’t the place for you but if you want a small comfortable good american breakfast check this place out.

Needed a place for breakfast in the downtown area of Everett. Jumped on Unilocal and found Karl’s. Their bread-n-butter is the bakery but they have about 6 breakfast items on the board. The items in the bakery look YUMMM-O. I had the Blueberry pancakes with Ham… tasty and a good value. Lots of hot coffee at the self-serve coffee bar. The décor is funky 70’s, it’s clean and the morning I was there about 8 other people were in the place. Looks like it’s the neighborhood café where a bunch of regulars meet for coffee almost every morning. If you’re looking for a place to grab breakfast Karl’s isn’t fancy but it’s good. I’ll be back.
