I came here for the first time today with a group of fellow mom friends and our babies. We had a lovely, leisurely meal with excellent service. I had the fried chicken sandwich, and it was just delicious– two huge, perfectly fried pieces of chicken topped with creamy slaw, spicy dressing, and vinegary pickled onions. Our friendly server kept our cokes coming, and the array of sauces was fun to try(the white bbq sauce is amazing on fries.) The food was great, but the experience was really made by how accommodating they were to us and our babes. We had five moms with really teeny babies, and the staff was so great about putting together a big table for us, working around our carriers and strollers, and not getting fazed when we had the occasional crying jag. I probably wouldn’t bring the baby to dinner, bc I can tell it’s pretty nice in the evening, but for lunch time it was a great option to have an unhurried, delicious meal without getting stressed about my baby. WIN.

Great eats! I love the fried chicken sandwich with the stuffed tater tots. When I eating in the restaurant the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Unfortunately, when ordering for pickup, the girls answering the phone can be incredibly rude and short with you. I’ve talked with friends who have had the same experience when calling in an order. Now when I want something to go, I’ll just give a call to Bluestone down the street.

I love this place and so does my husband! We’ve been there four times and their dinners are awesome. They have great service and treat customers like they are happy that we are there. I have enjoyed going there each time and the place is clean and attractive. The best part is that their food is awesome. We went there for New Year’s Eve and didn’t have a reservation and still were able to be seated by a pleasant host. We had a marvelous time and can’t wait to return. Maybe for Valentine’s Day?!

Pretty solid place off Central St. in Evanston. I wanted something American to celebrate my birthday with my dad and brother and this place did not disappoint. You could smell the delicious BBQ smoke as soon as you enter. We ordered two apps, the smoked chicken wings and the chili. Both were great, with the chili edging in on phenomenal. I mean, pork shoulder AND brisket in chili? Yes please. I ordered the TMH pizza which was quite tasty and my brother got a cuban. If you’re looking for a straight BBQ joint, this probably isn’t your stop. But if you like an American menu that incorporates a lot of barbequed meats, this is your place. Beer selection was solid. Only qualm is the service was a bit slow. Could’ve been an off night, but just wanted a little quicker service.

Brought two friends here this morning for brunch and it did not disappoint! We split the buttermilk biscuits, crispy grilled cheese, and the sunrise wood fired pizza topped off with a round of mimosas. Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. Had great service, the place has a cool, relaxed vibe, and I can’t wait to come back to try the lunch/dinner selections. But this will for sure be a go-to brunch spot for me!

Shortly after my previous review, I convinced my college roommmate and her husband to go here with me after a yoga class we went to — it wasn’t hard to get them to agree as soon as I said«pepperjack tator tots.» All three of us had the corn chowder(yummy as always — $ 4 for a small bowl or $ 6 for a regular), and we decided to try one of their wood-fire pizzas($ 14). It was pretty incredible. It had artichokes, onions, asparagus, and tomatoes, and was perfectly cooked.

Great modern take on American comfort food with wide variety of craft beer. Really yummy selection of meaty sandwiches and they have thin crust build your own pizzas. The restaurant does a good job of having a nice atmosphere without being too snooty, plus one side of it is a sports bar. Good service when we were there. The brisket sandwich was excellent

Aside from a bit of a telephone /reservation mishap that was cleared up when we got there, everything was perfect. I do not want to taint your opportunity to eat at this establishment so I will not discuss the topic sentence. The food, décor, smell, and staff was superb. The shrimp appetizer was great. I had the ½ slab of ribs with a side of roasted beets cooked to perfection. My wife had a salad with salmon that she enjoyed and my son had the kids pizza. It’s impossible to screw pizza up in a brick oven so I won’t bother reporting. I would definitely give this place a try and I have a feeling you will be back as will we!

The Bloody Mary rivals no other. They use the rub from the brisket as part of the mix. Spicy, flavorful, and packs a kick!

this place is just okay. I think it is overpriced for what it is. The wait staff is self-impressed and for BBQ go somehow else. I have been here a few times, and each time I swear it will be the last. They ran out of ice cream once and it took twenty minutes to tell us —

Amazing how a «slightly sleepy» suburb has started supporting some excellent restaurants. Mind you, Evanston has had some fine restaurants in the past, but were usually pretty expensive. Now, there are excellent and«reasonably priced» restaurants. TMH has a very open and airy feel. Kitchen is open, bar is spacious. Food seems to be a bit of a mix on overall Influence; Mediterranean, Low Country/Deep South, South West, BBQ. But what I have had has been very good. First time I came here, has«Angry Shrimp» and for sure was a riff on Shrimp & Grits. 4 good sized Shrimp, perfectly cooked, spicy sauce. Then had Mussels and beer, their«See-Food» of the day. Been a while since I had them, but recall they were great. Leeks, beer, butter. Tonight, has a Seafood Cocktail with jumbo shrimp and ahi tuna. Mango salsa, rather tasty. Honestly, could make meals out of exploring their appetizers. Meat Of The, Day was Hanger Steak, a particular favorite of mine. Mustardy Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Fingerling Potatoes, Squash purée. The squash purée pairing, wasn’t in love with and not that the squash wasn’t well done, but just wasn’t right with this dish in my mind. But the steak was perfectly cooked and the Sprout«hash» was awesome. Would have just been fine as Hanger and Sprouts. While not needed, ordered the Brioche Bread Pudding, which was very good. Not too sweet. I’m digging the place and their very good food. Business seems to be humming for them and I’ll return for sure.

How did a 20 minute wait turn into a 90 seconds? And just as we were ordering drinks from the bar. I know we should be happy there wasn’t a wait, but there were at least 4 empty tables to start with when she said 20 minutes. And PS the high tops in the bar area are empty but you better not sit down without the hostess. And then the service was turtle style. The waiter wasn’t attentive and kinda dizty. I’d love to actually hear the specials and PS that’s my glass of wine sitting at the bar. Yeah — that glass… that’s, right bring it to me. And to eat I’d love a fork, knife and plate. Or maybe just throw the pizza on the ground and I’ll get down there and eat it. Seafood cocktail — prolly the best thing all night. 3 strips of tuna and about 4 shrimp. The veggies were really crunchy though. TMH pizza — sooooooo dry. And the fried onions on top are just way too much. A few would be fun, but i didnt want all these damn onion strings. Just made the pizza even drier and more crumbly. Depressing because I love a good pizza. Grilled cheese was really interesting — the cheese overlapped the bread and was good, just weird because the bread is unusual. It’s more like burnt crusty cheese bread not a bad thing, just different. Broccolini with garlic — very very crispy and pretty much cold when it hit the table.

I have visited several times since the incident I last wrote about, and am pleased to say I’ve had a great experience ever since! The staff is very knowledgeable and helped my dad and I select new items to try! He got the TMH pizza, which was of course amazing(roasted garlic, pork shoulder, bacon and bbq sauce) and we ordered the gooey chocolate cake for dessert. SOGOOD!

My office is just down the street, so I’m a regular for lunch. Ten Mile House is a fairly recent and very welcome addition to east Central Street. It’s a comfortable neighbourhood restaurant, cozy and comfortable. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, and the food… oh, let’s talk about the food. I’ve really only been here for lunch, so that’s all I can talk about… their Chili(which is listed as an appetizer) is so much more than chili that it’s scary. It’s smoked brisket and pork shoulder chili, available small or large. The large size is a soup bowl, and easily makes a full meal for only $ 6.00(sorely under-priced, but don’t tell the management or you’ll ruin my average lunch tab). Their pepperjack-stuffed tater tots are tots on steroids. They’re huge, man… and they’re delicious, which is a nice thing to share whilst awaiting your main course. Their wood-oven pizzas are excellent, with unique ingredients. They have fried chicken, tacos and angry shrimp, each better than the next. Everything is presented beautifully, and very upscale-looking. What you’d expect from a much more expensive restaurant. The chef, Greg, creates great salads, and every now and then has salad specials that are inspired. Half a romaine topped with yummy goodness(olives, mini-croutons, beets & avocado by request) with an underlayment of bleu cheese dressing. And his baby kale & arugula salad is almost enough to make me a kale convert. Almost. The chef and other owners(James and Rob) are often present, and make the rounds to see if everyone is enjoying their meal… and they really seem to care. If you get a chance, stop in and give it a try… but ohmigod, it’s just across the street from Dyche stadium(sorry, I just can’t bring myself to call it Ryan Field), so don’t go on a game day… you won’t find parking and every table, and every barstool will be occupied.

As soon as you walk in, the scent of smoked bbq invites you in even further. The overall ambience was very inviting. They have a great mural of Evanston highlights that is a great compliment to the place. The host was very polite especially when we asked to sit outside and changed our minds when we felt the brisk breeze. Our waitress was also nice but seemed to be pretty busy since we couldn’t find her when we needed her. We came in for brunch and ordered buttermilk biscuits and gravy, crispy grilled cheese with mushrooms, steak and eggs, and a kids cheese pizza. The sauce in the biscuits and gravy was bursting with flavor and came with a lil spicy kick. The grilled cheese had a tasty caramelized crust that I could get enough of. The steak and eggs was short on the steak but tasted pretty decent. Our daughter ate the cheese pizza with no complaints, so no issues there. We also tried their pizza when they were on location at Temperance Brewery. We were able to choose the sauce and meat for $ 12. We chose a white sauce with mushrooms and spinach as well as a red sauce with sausage. Both pizzas lacked sauce and the crust was a tad on the too thin side, hence lacking flavor. We’ll skip on the pizzas, but will be coming back to try other menu options though

Yum! Came here for a weekday lunch with a friend, and we left stuffed and satisfied. My friend had one of their Smoked Chicken Cobb Salad($ 12) and this was large, hearty and delicious. I would definitely recommend this. It was almost hard to finish as there was so much to it. I had their Ten Mile House Club($ 12) which was also really good. I would get either of these again. Service was great. Restaurant features locally-inspired artwork. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Conveniently located in Evanston where there is decent street parking. I like. I would come back, and I would recommend.

3.4 stars. This place has pretty good food and service but nothing to write home about. A nicer-than-average American bar with standard fare of burgers, salads, pizzas and wings and a normal selection of drafts. Very convenient location if you are at Ryan Field already! Tip: They have outdoor seating during the summer.

If you’re looking for a spot for a group dinner/cocktails this won’t disappoint. Yet another biz in evanston that makes me think«where was this during my NU days?» Then again this would have been a bit more than our typical nights at the Keg(RIP). We started with some apps and I was quite happy with two slices of pizza. Pretty good, but then again it’s tough to mess up pizza. I even admit to eating(and enjoying) 2 slices of dominoes pizza this weekend, although this was certainly better. For my entrée I went with the Cobb salad. I was pretty full after the pizza and other apps, but it was just OK anyway. I picked at jt a bit and then decided I was done for the night. Although of course i had to have a few bites of the BDAY desserts, which I now regret since I can’t remember what they wrote. I’m not drinking right now, but the cocktail menu looked good. Instead I enjoyed a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade on a rainy Chicago evening. I don’t think I would rush back here for a date night, but would be up for the lovely atmosphere again for another big group dinner.

I’ve been here for brunch twice and have tried The Dude, Buttermilk Biscuit, Fresh Berry French Toast, and hash brown(not on menu but you can request it). Everything I’ve tried here tasted GREAT, and I am especially impressed by The Dude(sausage, fried eggs, maple glazed bacon, and cinnamon roll). One warning is that the portions are HUGE, so it’d be a good idea to share one entrée with a side or two. The only complaint I have is the service. The two waitresses I’ve had haven’t been that attentive and were really slow at refilling our drinks. It could be because we were seated outside and they forgot about us a few times. I also think the manager was very rude(not exactly sure if he was the manager, but both times he was hanging around the cash register but not performing the role of a host). When I was eating the Dude, he came by my table and said«You’re not going to eat the whole thing, are you??» He said this in a rude tone and he should not be making comments like that considering he works at the restaurant. Would have given this a solid 4, but had to drop it to a 3 due to poor service. Overall: Food: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2
