^ discruntled ex employee? deff knows alot of inaccurate details. spoke almost nothing of the service and most of personal little judgments, sad hippy. anyways this company is great i pay my bills at all of corkys stores they take amazing care of me, soo friendly and eager to help. in the past there had been some questionable employees but ever since its been under new management its been a SOLID local bussiness, corky on SEVERAL occasions has given away things and made deals for certain situations for long time customers hes aslways nice and friendly. this bussiness rules. and theyre gonna be around for a long time the way things are ran, if it was so «crooked» it wouldnt of been in business for 20 fricken years and have so much community support.

The owner of this business is one of the most crooked people I’ve ever met in my life. I’m not sure how he managed to become«Business Man of the Year» in Humboldt County. It must be because he pays his employees so little so that his bottom line looks bigger in the end. I’ve heard several stories of sexual harassment by the owner from former employees, and even customers as well. These come from reliable sources and I would not be writing it in this review if I were not 100% sure that the accusations are correct. They do not recycle ANYTHING at this business. Reams of reusable paper get thrown away… not reused, not recycled… just thrown into the trashcans. Then the garbage bags from all of the cans around the office sit in the employee break room for a week until one employee hauls it off in their own personal vehicle to their own personal dumpster, because the owner is too cheap to pay for garbage service at his business. Although he has no problem paying for giant cans of helium and un-biodegradable balloons and ribbons which are wasted every single day in hopes that they will attract more customers. Disgusting. They advertise«free» phones, or «phones for only a penny», but when you actually go in and sign a contract and receive your phone, you are required to pay tax on the RETAILPRICE of the phone(which is usually over $ 300, making the tax alone over $ 20 for a «free» or «1 cent» phone.) They do not do this at the corporate US Cellular store(next to Eureka Natural Foods.) The employees at this store and all the other outlying RCC stores(Fortuna, Arcata, Mckinleyville, Bayshore Mall, and Crescent City) do not receive proper training before they are put out on the sales floor. Many of the employees have never even seen a smartphone before they are required to know all of the details and features in order to inform their customers of all the information they should know before making such an expensive and important purchase. The turnover rate is so high at this business that very few employees work there long enough to actually learn how to do their job correctly. As far as I know, most of the«long-term employees»(those who have been working for 1 or more years) have recently been fired. There has even been a lot of recent turnover in the administrative department, leaving only one person in charge who does little more than sit at his desk and drink wine from his own personal«cellar» in the corner of his office. As a former US Cellular customer, I am appalled at the way this business is run. Hopefully this is enough information for others to make the best decision for them when it comes time for a new phone.
