Love this place but wish they had a smaller or half sandwich option. If I could pay just a buck less and not throw half away I’d be a happy camper. I’ve tried saving half but it’s yucky and mushy by the next day.

Ordered a basic turkey and Swiss with avocado. The avocado was rotten, so I brought it back. Her response was«they aren’t in season». Gee, then maybe you shouldn’t put them on a sandwich. I also had a BBQ beef sandwich. Use to love them there, until they switched vendors. I was told by the employees that they changed vendors because they were cheaper, yet their prices went up… poor service and rude associates. Done eating there.

Food is good but the prices are ridiculous for the small sandwiches. When I went there the staff wasn’t very good either very rude.

If you stop in eureka and don’t have a sandwich here you are missing out!!! Go big or go home — this is the classic huge sandwich place that fills any man(or woman!!) up! Just go there. Nuff said.

We love this little sandwich shop! I have tried a variety of sandwiches from them. Choose their creations or make your own! They have a great selection of bread, meats, veggies, spreads, chips and drinks. I really like the café brioche roll. The eureka shop has limited seating. The Arcata store has picnic benches outside only.

Thank you Unilocal! This place definitely delivers a quality sandwich. Too big to finish in one sitting but that’s a good problem :)

Recently, I split a Cobb sandwich on Dutch crunch with my boyfriend. We subbed the blue cheese for garlic Jack. GREATMOVE! The bread and toppings are fresh and cut just right was a sandwich. The sandwiches are HUGE. Glad we split, but would definitely come back.

My Dad and I stopped here for lunch on a road trip after reading tons of positive Unilocal reviews. We weren’t disappointed! Enormous portions and tons of options for your sandwich or sub. We did wish there were seating(maybe a picnic table outside?). I will say everyone in there seemed like they were a pretty regular customer and had a better idea of what to order. We picked fairly simple ingredients(both some combination of turkey and vegetables on wheat bread/roll), which were tasty, but I think I’d pick something a little more adventurous next time. My own fault. Overall a cool sandwich spot with a good menu and super friendly staff. If we’re ever back in town I’m sure we’d stop in again.

This place takes card, while the Arcata one doesn’t, which is convenient. However, the sandwich makers here aren’t as friendly as the ones in Arcata and come across as rather apathetic. And I feel like the quality of the sandwiches are lower here. Better than Subway, but do yourself a favor and hit up the Arcata Hole in the Wall instead.

The portions are huge, the service is friendly, the vegetables are fresh, and the meats and cheeses are quality. By the time I was finished ordering, a massive 4-pound monstrosity of a sandwich had appeared in front of me. I endeavored to take this beast of a meal and consume it in one fell swoop. Alas, fate had other plans for me. Halfway through this sandwich, I hit the dreaded food wall. The pastrami sandwich won. I packed up my leftovers for another attempt later — when I’m better prepared to take on such a challenge.

This place is all around amazing-from the nice staff, to the delicious selection of bread and sandwiches. I was in Eureka and looked this place up and the reviews were spot on. It was a small shop with only a couple employees and two tables outside. They had a large bread selection(I got Dutch Crunch both visits) and choice of sandwiches(Turkey Club for myself). It was so good, I came back the next day before leaving back home. If I ever am in the area of this shop again, I’ll be back and maybe order one for the road.

There is nothing like a good sandwich shop, so what do you do when you find a great one? You stop and devour the amazingness within! I lived in Humboldt for years, and am sad that I didn’t take more advantage of Hole in the Wall when I lived there. However, I have now made it a mandatory stop when I am traveling from Sacramento to Crescent City, or vice versa. My last stop here, I got the hot pastrami with everything on it. The vegetables were fresh, crisp and full of flavor, the bread sweet and crunchy. The portions are huge, so definitely be ready for leftovers, if you aren’t one for a soggy sandwich later then you’ll need to plan accordingly. I need to find a place like this in Sacramento, it’s too good to not have weekly!

We stopped here at the end of our trip through Avenue of the Giants. I had an equally giant sandwich loaded with any vegetable I desired. I think it was pulled pork on dutch crunch? It was messy as hell and my mouth waters for it months later. There were so many meat and bread and cheese options it took me a minute to decide. They also had literally every kind of chips or drink you could want! Mexicokes, Monsters, juices, anything. Great friendly(and patient) people too. This place left an impression on me and I will definitely stop by every time I visit.

Unilocal has pulled thru again… Just off 101, tucked in the back, and worth the stop! I had the very flavorful hot pastrami on a nice and SOFT whole wheat roll Heaped with lettuce, jalapeños, pepperonis, Mustard and mayo… A great vinaigrette and S&P. Chips and a water for about $ 13.00 TOTALLY with the price, and locally owned to boot. You won’t be disappointed.

I was very skeptical about this place. Plenty of sandwich places are praised by patrons as the last beacon of hope and delicious sandwich foods. This one delivered on that promise. I got a tuna on Dutch crunch bread and boy did that hit the spot. They don’t mix their tuna with mayo until you order, which keeps it super fresh and tasting amazing. They add a little salt and pepper into it, usually, which I thought was a great idea. I got some tomatoes(very ripe!) and pickle chips on it as well. It hit the spot, and at $ 8 or so, was well worth the price. I couldn’t eat the entire thing in one sitting. It was huge. My girlfriend had a Cobb, which was like a club sandwich, I suppose. Also big and amazing. Employees were super friendly and helpful. One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever been to in my 33-year-long career of sandwich eating. Edit: Almost forgot! PASTASALAD! OMGITWASGOOD! GETSOME!
