A tiny motel of cabins that are directly on the street and just a few minutes from downtown Eureka, even if you’re walking. Its a very steep street though; so much so that we took a cab home rather than tackle that hill, drunk or sober — No Way! Units consist of two bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom. You absolutely cannot beat the value here as rates are CHEAP. The one we were in was about $ 65 for two full beds(a size under queen) and it was great to have a private space instead of sharing a room and being w/others without respite. People in our group paid about $ 80 for their room. Their beds were larger, their rooms were substantially larger and they had a microwave and a mini fridge, whereas we just had the fridge. Our bathroom had a bathtub — no curtain or shower head and that was definitely unexpected! The other bathroom had a shower stall only. Being here is kind of like staying at your grandma’s house. It’s outdated, not overly clean and it really isn’t in the best of repair(had to pay some attention to accustom ourselves to the idiosyncratic workings of the front door!). But it’s homey, you don’t have to worry about screwing something up, and the owners are really nice folks. Pros: Cheap as hell, close to Eureka, Cute folksy LOG rooms, mini fridge & microwave, a little deck between rooms to hang out on. Cons: Teeny rooms, thrift store décor and LINENS were not nice, and not aggressively clean. I would recommend this place to families on a tight budget or partying young folk and the like. If you want a luxurious experience when you travel, don’t waste your time; you’ll feel like you’re camping out. Next time I will bring my own blankets and pillows and pay the extra $ 20 and get a larger bed & room.
