The Nosh Pit is no more! Read on their Facebook Page that the owners are on to bigger and better things and have closed up the cart. Best wishes to them, but… Very Sad Panda, here.

Every single thing I’ve eaten here is so completely delicious. I love it when a chef pairs unique yet complimentary flavors together — this guy definitely knows what he’s doing — his menu *never* fails. His twist on everyday lunch items = ridiculously yummy. It makes me happy to know he uses seasonal and local ingredients. I have no idea why this guy doesn’t have a brick & mortar restaurant!!! I’d be elated if he opened one. I know my fiancé would agree. Sometimes it’s a little too cold and wet to visit a food cart… I miss his location downtown, but only because I work close by — I definitely don’t miss the street scum clogging up the the sidewalk near Voodoo Doughnuts. I avoid campus as much as possible, so was happy to visit him a few weekends ago at the winter Farmers Mkt. And of course, it was excellent as usual.

I’ve kept seeing«The Nosh Pit» name tossed out here and there and went down today to check it out. After almost running over 15 students, I noticed a large white tent with a huge grill under it. I was greeted by a very nice gentleman by the name of Corey. After taking a quick look at the menu I decided on 2 pork belly sandys for my wife and I. Corey cooked up some pork right on the spot. Smelled like heaven too… While cooking, Corey and I had a nice discussion about deli’s and the foods we love that come from them. He has a passion for his food and feeding people, I could tell just from listening to him talk about it. The sandwich was very tasty. Grilled bun, VERY flavorful pork, I THINK a little russian dressing and some pickled peppers. The combination of flavors was great. Really exploded with taste. Only problem was I still felt a bit hungry when done. For a $ 6 sandwich, I would’ve liked it to be a little bit bigger, or a bit heartier. Perhaps East Side Deli in PDX is spoiling me too much haha… But compared to some of the crap sandwiches i’ve had around here for $ 5 that’s just as big… I would much rather pay an extra dollar and have a sandwich from The Nosh Pit. I would also like to make a point that I noticed Corey was very conscious about keeping his hands clean. I appreciate that very much. When it comes to Food Carts… Sanitizing is a top priority in my opinion, and seeing Corey wash his hands after taking money, before preparing the food was a great thing. I’ll be back in the future

The Nosh Pit has moved, to a campus location between 13th and 14th on Kincaid(library side). A loss for downtown, but a win for us campus-y types! Can’t wait for the winter menu…

A great site for slow food at its finest. Very limited menu(typically two entrees per day), as well as a closing time depending totally on when the food runs out(sometime between noon and two pm) both speak to high quality cuisine served street-style. Great care is taken to ensure the use of locally produced ingredients, and all sauces and accompaniments appear(and taste) incredibly fresh. This is a perfect spot for on-the-run lunch when you don’t want to sacrifice taste for speed. Glad to have this awesome food cart in town!

Here’s a Unilocal message I received from the owner of this cart. Few owners have such a reasonable response to negative feedback. I’ll definitely give them a try now. «Hi, this is Corey Wisun, I own Nosh Pit with my partner Nicole. Thank you for the feedback. I understand the concern with the $ 1 cutting charge. i did that only because it was a Jerk Chicken Sandwich and it just fell apart when cut in half. The chef that explained that to you was correct in her response. So I felt that if you need it cut in half so you can share it bad enough, then I’ll charge a buck. Kind of like the split plate charge you see so often in restaurants. I’ve since taken that sandwich off the menu and am happy to say that I no longer have that policy. I also don’t think you were treated the same as if you asked for ketchup at Rabbit… :) I see that you really appreciate local and quality products. I also see that you had a bad experience at the Red Cart too. I welcome you to come down and try my food. I know that you’ll enjoy yourself and hopefully it will yield a more tasteful review than the previous. Cheers!»
