Food has been really good each time I’ve been. Breakfast is awesome, love the sausage and gravy and omelettes. The bloody Mary is pretty good slightly spicy but not overly spicy. Really like the free pool days. Overall just a nice neighborhood place to hang out!

Our neighborhood bar and grille. Great selection of beer, very good menu and food preparation [according to my group of 5 – 8 who meet for Tuesday tacos or whatever]. And a monthly menu of specials which are very good. On ocassion, they will be swamped and need to have a server on call, if possible. Nevertheless Michael, sassy Lauren and Terri are outstanding servers and have been there long enough to give recommendations as well as great service.

This is an awesome bar if you’re looking for something to do beyond just having a drink. They have so many different games to play! Four pool tables, ping pong, foosball, darts, basket ball, and more! It was a good way to spend a Friday night. Also, I was looking at their different daily specials and they have some good stuff!(like free pool some days, discounted drinks, etc.)

Not a bad place at all, but service was meh and food was decent. I think it was managements fault for understaffing one of their most popular days(prime rib, which they were sold out of by 7PM). Cool spot for beers and pool but they should be more prepared for busy nights.

We got a Groupon and decided to try it one night. The happy hour specials are $ 5 for all apps and $ 6 for apps with meat(I think)… anyway it was a pretty good happy hour. I didn’t get drinks since I was driving but I watched them making them and they know how to make a drink! The location was clean. The bathroom was very clean, which I love… There are pool tables, darts(I thought), dining area and lots of TVS. The Nachos were AWESOME — 3 of us shared them. Plenty of meat and toppings. I got the BBQ Cobb salad. Holy mambos this was good. I would definitely go back for this salad. Dad got the Asian Chicken Salad and it was okay… the dressing was good. I would definitely say I got the prize salad though. Mom got the french dip type sandwich. The meat was a good portion and tender. The bread was correct and soft and there were onions and mushrooms(i believe) on it. The only complaint she had was that the au jus was packet. BUT it was good in my opinion. If you can get Michael(female pronounced just like the male name though) as your server DOIT… you won’t regret it. She may have given the best service I have had in Eugene. Good food, good value, awesome service… not really much else is needed. TRYIT!

Good veggie-friendly options, lots of specials, tasty food that shows up quickly, and — much to my surprise in Eugene — THESERVICEROCKS. Friendly, funny wait staff who actually deserve to be tipped! I wish other restaurants in town would take a cue from the Highlands staff. Will continue to visit!

Favorite bar in Eugene! Great food, beer, drinks and games. They show all the football games and the staff is awesome. I’m a highland fan for life!

Food was very nice and very well priced. We had a Groupon and got plenty of food and drinks for our money. Mike, our waiter/barman was extremely efficient and provided friendly and fast service, he has a great personality. Thank you, we will be back!!!

This is by far my favorite bar. The atmosphere is always chill, although a bit crowded during the big games. All other nights though service is always super fast and attentive. The bartenders remember you and treat you like friends, which is super cool. Mike and the pretty, blonde lady are my favorites, although they are all awesome, really. The bar is super stocked, and they always make the crazy drinks I come up with and they hook it up. I also love playing pool there; they have 4 pool tables, foosball, darts, shuffleboard, ginormous jenga, and pingpong. Love it! Only one thing I would change is the soda selection, I like Dr. Pepper and Sierra Mist and they have neither, but maybe a lot of bars don’t? I have no idea, this is really the only one I frequent. The food is good; not always the best, but I haven’t tried that many items yet. Also their prices are inexpensive all around which completely makes up for it. I like the chicken strips the most :)

I like highlands. I like I can get a beer in a clean glass and play some pool or ping pond and people are generally friendly.

I always go to breakfast at highlands and it’s delicious. The young lady who is our server on the weekends is always so nice and attentive. We highly recommend highlands. Love the French toast! ;)

I love the highlands. Been coming here for 5 years, it’s my lil watering hole on the south side of town. And maybe cause there really isn’t a whole lot of options, but it’s still a favorite. The staff is friendly and while I have seen many good friends come and go from behind the counter and in the kitchen it’s always a place that feels like home. They have good deals and specials(10 wings for $ 4 on Mondays and $ 4 appetizers on Wednesdays being my favorite) and come football season it is THEE place to go watch games on Sundays. Daily food specials and a beer of the day are also nice additions. Plenty of games to play: pool, shuffleboard, ping ping, basketball, foosball table, and darts. Overall this place has always had a place in my heart and will going forward. Come check it out if you haven’t, hopefully you will find as great as I have.

Not fancy. Lots of beer on tap. I am a fan of the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries. Friendly staff — though inconsistent with how fast you might get service. Sometimes we sit for awhile before anyone comes to check on us. Not a big problem! Pool tables, ping pong, and lots of TV’s. Our go to place for a cheap and easy meal(with beer!).

I really enjoy this place. Kind of a weird little dive bar but it’s my favorite place for game day. The booths have small TVs and they have a bomb Burger and brew special on Saturdays. I love the California burger. Small selection of beers on tap but good beer. They also have pacman, darts, and ping pong. Wednesday nights pool is free. Plus it’s not on campus full of drunk college kids, always a plus for me.

It’s a dive bar but awesome entertainment. Ping pong, pool tables, shuffle board, a few video games including PAC man! :-) Full bar and the food is affordable and great tasting! I recommend the pulled pork sandwich YUM!

Here’s the deal: The Highlands has been our neighborhood pub for about eight years and we’ve always loved it. We visit about 4 to 6 times per month for lunch and dinner. The food is great — very consistent and at least a few steps better than common bar food. The problem is that over the last few months, the dinner(Friday//Saturday) staff don’t provide good service. They’re surly and rushed, virtually throwing the food and drinks down in front of patrons who are sitting out in the restaurant and gaming areas of the place. Then, you see them hanging out at the bar — where the regulars and industry folks are, laughing and chatting with their friends and pouring fat cocktails for them. I’ve been in places like the Highlands across the United States and frankly, I’ve never experienced such poor service. These problems have only been in the last six months and, we’re going to vote with our wallet, taking the Highlands off our list for dinner until we’ve heard that service has improved.

Matto and I ended up at the Highlands with a couple friends on Thanksgiving. Last time we were in they had Lord of the Rings pinball– which is a lame game. However they currently have Batman– based on The Dark Night. None of us had played this game before so we got a little four person tournament play on. For a brand new Sterns game it was actually quite fun! There is something overly simplistic about a lot of the newer games– I’m not sure if it’s something about the graphics or the actual play, but they often seem to be missing the subtlety of late 80’s through mid 00’s pins. There was touch of that feeling to the game but I think all the moving pieces and locks made up for it: the rotating Joker figure, a moving wrecking ball arm with magnetized wrecking ball, and the Batmobile. I could be biased by the fact I popped it on the first game but the Dark Knight was surprisingly fun to play. I’ll have to go give it second try sometime.

Sadly, this seems to be the best place in Eugene to play darts. My partner and I fell in love playing darts, so whenever we find ourselves in the mood to play, we have to go to Highlands. There isn’t much else I find redeeming about Highlands. It’s not dimly-lit enough to be a dive, it’s not bright-and-pleasant enough to scare away the scuzzballs who are wasted at 3pm. When the jukebox is playing, it is way too loud. Bartender-servers aren’t unpleasant but none of them are going to win the blue ribbon for congeniality, either. Selection of beers on tap is o.k. with a lot of the typical local brews. It is an awkward place to watch an event, or be around an event(for example, a Ducks game) because only a third of the bar’s floor space is dedicated for viewing and watching the smaller screens from somewhere else(say, near where you play darts) doesn’t work nearly as well. Truth is, I hate almost every bar I’ve ever stepped into in Eugene and, especially given the darts situation, I’ll continue to suck it up and patronize Highlands every now and then. Just don’t expect me to smile about it.

Amazing beer selection. This place consistently satisfies my IPA craving with a choice of at least 3 on tap. Lately I’ve been digging the Laurelwood IPA. They offer enough beers on tap(maybe 24?) to make everyone happy. They also have an extensive menu and while I might not reccomend splurging on their fish and chips, the burgers are decent and made with Oregon Natural Beef. Their fries are pretty darn good and the nachos look gigantic. Points for having a bunch of pool tables, ping pong and darts. An eclectic juke box and friend bar staff round out this pleasant neighborhood bar. Now I know where my husband is when he says he’s going around the«corner».
