Trout Haven Ranch Lodge

Good location. Service barely passable. Stayed in Trout House, a 2BR with full kitchen for $ 245/​night. Most of the furniture is ikea, bedding and other amenities very old and low quality. Kitchen has no frying pan, just a small saucepan. How are you supposed to prepare anything with just that? We called mgt assuming an error. They acknowledged «yeah, many people have taken issue with this, but no, we have no other cookware.» Incredible. I have a fridge full of food I brought for the family that is pointlessly going to waste b/​c owner can’t respond to repeated feedback from customers and just buy $ 29 worth of cookware from Walmart.
Have now done a bit more research on the area. Much nicer places in the area for much less $$$. I wish I could say nicer things, I wanted to love the place, but 2-​stars is really the nicest I can be

This place is now part of Trout Haven Ranch which is next door but the sign still says Tiny Town Cottages.
My wife and I paid $ 175 a night over Labor Day weekend. That’s really a great deal for Estes, especially considering what you get for the money.
Our trip was for a romantic weekend getaway and this place fit the bill. Our place was the smallest they offer. We stayed in #5, aka Blue Jay. It’s one room with a queen bed and a big stone fireplace, and then another section with a galley kitchen and a full bath. The main area with the bed also has a TV with cable and lots of stations.
Again, it’s cozy. It’s also rustic. The place had wood panel walls, and old wooden door, a rickety screen door that slams shut and has old green paint peeling off. The fireplace is big and made of large riverstones bricked together. These are all good points of character in my opinion. It all adds to the nice cozy fishing cabin feel.
The rustic character fortunately doesn’t carry into the amenities. It’s still modest and country, but actually works unlike a lot of other rustic cabins. The bathroom has great water pressure, and even a vent and heat fan. The bathtub is relatively new and clean. The kitchen sink is old but very functional. The fridge works just fine. The heat works great.
The wood fireplace is an outstanding feature. We loved falling asleep with the fire still smoldering. It also lends a nice fire smell to the cabin.
The bed was firm but very comfortable. I slept unusually well for a hotel or cabin away from home.
The site was open and set in a rolling hill area on the Big Thompson river. You can walk along the river. The cabins are set far enough apart that you don’t really notice any neighbors except at a distance.
This place was great for us as a couple, but would also be ideal for guys getting away for a fishing trip, or for families looking to get some time away together. However, in those situations I’d recommend upgrading the the bigger cabins that sleep 2 – 4 or more.
There wasn’t maid service since we were just there a few days. I think they do clean for you if you’re there longer. We had to take out our own trash.
There is also a farm fishing pond on the site. It’s really for kids, but I did it anyway to grab some dinner. The lake was SUPER stocked with trout. It’s almost impossible to cast a line more than once without catching a fish. Again, great for kids to fish, or if you’re not feeling like really going fishing but still getting fresh caught fish. They include everything. You just pay for what you catch at $ 0.95/inch.
Location is central to RMNP and downtown. There is a liquor store, grocery store, and restaurants all well within walking distance. If you stay, make sure to check out the Sundeck Restaurant down the street.
All in all, a great place for almost all types of trips to Estes, and for now at very affordable prices comparatively.
