Papa John’s Pizza

There is usually an issue when I come to this store. One time they just forgot to make my pizzas (and they weren’t that busy). Another time it was a challenge to figure out with them what I actually ordered.
Overall the pizza is good but the employees there can be a bit sketchy. However there is on employee, a smaller woman with a high pitched voice. She is very friendly and customer oriented.

Quite frankly, the only reason I’m giving two stars is because the delivery person was nice, and the pizza was good.
Our experience with the manager this past weekend was unpleasant at best. We called late one night to «cash in» on a 50% off deal. We called another Papa John’s location, who said they had, in fact, heard of the promotion, and agreed to honor it for us. Unfortunately, we were out of their delivery zone, so they directed us to this location. The manager was rude to my fiancé about the promotion, but I thought there had just been a mix-​up, so I called back to see what had happened.
I was not aggressive or in any way disrespectful. All I had asked was why this location hadn’t agreed to honor the promotion, as my fiancé was left with that impression after their conversation. She angrily touted «I DID agree to honor that.» And hung up on me before I could even reply (All I was going to say was «Thank you»???).
It was incredibly rude and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily, the pizza solved that upon delivery.
I believe an establishment is only as good as its management, and unfortunately, this place just doesn’t cut it for me.

Had a bad experience and contacted corporate customer service. They said that local franchise owner would be in touch within 5 business days. This was mar 16, and it’s now mar 29, no response. Please help!

I always order online so I’ve never actually been to this location but I have always been more than satisfied with my order. They don’t take that long to deliver and I need to mention that the driver (who most of the time delivers my pizza) is really nice n friendly, her name is Angela Incollingo. Thank you for that delicious pizza I just ordered.

Walked into the Restaurant and Roger was at the cash register. Started to order a pizza and he scowled at me and walked away and muttered“he’ll be with you in a minute.” No greeting, no smile, no excuse me. In a minute a young man came and took my order politely while «Roger» continued to watch and scowl at me from rear of store. Really rude and creepy. Came back for my pizza. Almost afraid to eat it. Very rude. Not going back.

Papa John’s is my favorite, i guess you can say «fast food» pizza
They had a deal before, $ 5.99 for a large. But slowly it started going up. $ 6.99 then $ 7.99 i believe?
I stoped when it went up to $ 6.99. It was perfect too because i work in the shopping center and I’d get a pizza for myself.
Oh well.

Caleb took my order tonight and he was very professional very kind and courteous took my order promptly and also applied any promotional value that might qualify for my order thank you so much.

RUDE!!! I just called to place an order and used the online location number. I started giving my address and the man just scolds me that i called the wrong number and started rambling off a different phone number, I asked him to repeat it and it yelled it out and then hung up! If you don’t like your job, find a new one. Thanks

Pizza was delicious! The chicken poppers were a little disappointing and their buffalo sauce was a little too vinegary for my taste. (The buffalo sauce was $ 0.52 each by the way on top of the ranch I got) the pizza I got was Spinach chicken Alfredo tomato with regular crust! Sooo delicious!

I ordered online and the order was sent incorrectly to the store. When I got home and saw the wrong order, I called the store. They REFUSED to correct the order and didn’t care that they were going to lose a customer and that I would write this review. DO NOT USE THIS PAPA JOHNS LOCATION!

This was my first time visiting this location to order my pizzas. After brainstorming with my wife on which pizza chain to visit and shortening the list of 3 to Papa John’s, I decided to drive down to the store and order my pizzas in person. I had a coupon from the mail and presented it to the cashier, but she said I had to order online. I asked her if she can just take the coupon and let me pay in person, but again she said I had to order online. I agreed and sat down to order from my phone. After repeatedly trying to place my order online, it kept saying error. At this point I’m starting to get irritated because 1). The cashier couldn’t take my order and 2). The website was not working! At this point I go back to the cashier and show her my phone and she says she still can’t take my coupon code! The manager came and informed his cashier that yes, my coupon code is the only one that is accepted in store. After waiting 15 minutes in my car I come back to the store and began to wait in the line. The manager spotted me and personally handed me my order! Talk about class act and quality service! If it weren’t for the manager I would’ve taken my business to another store. I will definitely come back to this location
*Note: although the manager helped me, it would’ve been nice and courteous for the employee to go the extra mile and ask her manager if they could take my promo code in person… this would’ve saved me 10 minutes of trying to play with the nonfunctioning website.

The hell?
I called for my first time ever, no judgments, just wanting a cookie pizza.
I’m trying to make an order and the guy is telling me to tip the driver.
You don’t need to tell me to tip the driver.
You don’t need to tell me that the delivery charge is not a tip.
AND AGAIN Don’t tell me to tip the driver.
I’m am not a stupid and idiotic or inhumane person, I always tip.
Also, the fact that you are telling me to tip is like saying «We don’t pay our drivers enough, so can you compensate for that? Thanks.» Crazy.
Rude and stupid and a waste of time. Turned me off and I will never order from Papa Johns ever again.

This place is wack. i asked for cheese & pepper packets. and they are only Allowed to give 3 packets each. which is not enough for a large pizza

This is a review based on multiple deliveries from Papa John’s Pizza in Escondido.
The staff is friendly, professional, and polite. The delivery is prompt (usually around 30 minutes). The online ordering is easy to use.
Upon delivery, the food is hot and neatly packed.
The challenge is their food is simply bland. The pizza sauce lacks zip. The pizza crust lacks any flavour. I do like the texture of the dough though. The base ingredients seem to be of relatively good quality. It is also not too thin or too thick.
The wings have no kick. I simply can not recommend the chicken poppers. They have little texture and very little taste. They seem sort of ‘fake”. My favorite thing of theirs is the cheese bread. It is very cheesy and a bit addictive.
Overall — There are not that many delivery options in Escondido. Their food is bland but it is served hot and is neatly packed. The delivery is consistently prompt. So, if delivery is on the docket, Papa John’s will do. Just don’t expect a world class pie and you will be ok. This is a three star rating based on comparison to other chain style pizza restaurants.

Not impressed! Ordered pizza on a Saturday night after a long day of playing softball. I got the special three topping pizza and cookie for 16.99 I think. First they charge $ 3 for delivery which is new to me and kind of takes away from the whole idea of a tip but that’s ok. The pizza showed up the delivery guy was ok didn’t have much to say just gave me my pizza took my money and left. The reason they are only getting two stars is the pizza showed up lukewarm! What a disappointment and the cookie wasn’t moist like you would expect it. Clearly the driver either got lost or my pizza sat for a whole before it was finally delivered. I usually love papa johns, I may have to reconsider! :-/

This place has the slowest delivery of any pizza place I have ever seen. We live 6 minutes away and it takes them over an hour to deliver here. We order delivery occasionally so we don’t have to go out but waiting twice the amount of time they state they will deliver in is a bit ridiculous. We called and they were not helpful at all and made no effort to remedy the situation. They charge a delivery fee, probably because with such low quality service they know their drivers won’t be tipped well. I get it’s a pizza place but seriously… how poorly can you run a business?

This place doesn’t even deserve a 1 star review. We had our pizza delivered in a timely manner, however as soon as we bit in there was a 2″ stick, yes I said stick! Rare, I know.
So we called calmly hoping the pizza place would not deliberately put a stick in our pizza. Roger, the general manager sarcastically stated he’s never seen a stick in pizza before! Good lord I hope he hasn’t. He carried on talking over us about how he would have to pick up the pizza with a stick in it and then replace the pizza. Sorry but at this point I don’t want another papa johns pizza ever! & Please explain to me why you would need to pick up the pizza with a stick? That was fine though, because I didn’t plan on eating any pizza with a stick in it. I proceeded to tell him I just wanted my card refunded. He continued to speak over me. I then drove over to the actual papa johns and complained. He stood there face to face stating he would just replace my pizza. When I asked for corporate or anyone he reports to he stated he pretty much runs the place and gave me some 858 local number that had a answering machine for complaints. Never will I order from papa johns again in my life. It’s worth writing an awful complaint when typical I LOVE to write positive reviews. Roger is the absolute worst manager I have encounter. He speaks over you, Does not listen & needs a lesson in customer service.
I will never spend my money at this papa johns location. I hope that someone reads this review that actually cares!

There are definitely some gourmet Pizza places in the country, perhaps even here in San Diego County. I’ve been to a few. My Pi in Chicago comes to mind as a place to go for a memorable and delicious meal.
But 99% of the time I’m not looking for gourmet. I am looking for fast, inexpensive, and decent pizza on nights when nobody feels like cooking. Papa John’s fills that bill nicely. The pizza is definitely above average, and they have been extremely fast and reliable when I’ve had it delivered.
I love their online ordering system! You don’t have to try and explain what you want to some teenager on the phone who is going to get it wrong one time out of three. You hit a few keys, press the order button, and your pizza is on its way. You can also leave the tip online, which eliminates that awkward moment when the driver hands you the pie.
I also like the fact that you can save your favorite orders, which makes ordering the next time even easier and faster. And now they even have an iPhone app. Geek heaven!
So far they have never gotten my order wrong and I’ve never gotten a bad pizza. Their prices are in line with everyone else’s. This is my pizza place of choice in Escondido.

Bacon on a chicken wing pizza. Are you guys serious? So disgusting, Sorry guys, but you definitely lost me after i ordered this disappointing pizza.

I wasn’t expecting much from Papa John’s, but I was very happy I tried it. Decided that I needed a pizza and I got tired of Pizza Hut not putting enough toppings on my pizza. Got a half pepperoni and half mushroom extra large.
First thing I noticed when it was delivered was the size which was a good sized pizza. There was an ample amount of toppings as well. The pepperoni were slightly crunchy and not burned which is how I like it. The mushrooms were baby portabellos, which had so much more flavor and reminded me of them being sauteed. The sauce was flavorful, and a little sweeter which I liked. The crust was also perfect. Not too chewy and not too crunchy. Just right.
All in all, for a chain pizza, this place definitely earned the 4 stars. If you want a tasty pizza delivered and you haven’t tried the Papa in a while, give this place a chance.
