I really enjoyed going to this market the other day! It is surprisingly large and clean on the inside. The cashier/owner Mike has a friendly smile and is at least tri– lingual. He has a wonderful selection of food from Persia, Russia and several eastern European countries! And THAT is why you want to visit this hidden gem in Escondido, You can’t find food like this anywhere else in Northern S.D. County without a ridiculous price tag. Because of of Mike, I got to have home made gyros and falafels(which were amazing) for 11 people at the same cost it would be for 2 people in a restaurant! Some of the items at a little pricey, but considering they are imported and they taste great, I think the price and adventure trying new things is well worth it.

Okay, this place is the closest to me(considering I live in Temecula) that caries European products.(Beers, coffee, chocolate, cookies, spices, ect.) almost every single time I’ve come, especially now since the weather is getting warmer, I would experience melted items, expired, and opened. I’ve said something to the gentleman that ALWAYS works there and he doesn’t seem to care. He claims that«they get products and then they get new ones every so weeks», okay well, if you have expired stuff shouldn’t you remove it. Do you want your customer base to not return due to sickness or even worse sue you. I don’t get it. With that being said, I’ve made the decision to make the mission down to fashion valley, and go to the European Deli, and get what I need, instead of here.

I bought a yogurt drink here. Since I was so thirsty, I finished it all real quick. I then looked at the bottle and guess what? It’s been expired for 10 months. Luckily, I didn’t get sick but now you know why this place gets a 1 star

I only come here for a few things that I can’t really find at the supermarket(rose/orange blossom water, mahlab, lebne, phyllo dough, etc). I’m not sure which day they get their pita bread shipped in, but it’s always hard and dried out when I come by. Last time I was there, the refrigerator for the vegetables wasn’t even putting out cold air. Kind of a mixed bag. The owner’s wife is pretty hot, though.
