Could not find any green in the fairways. Clubs just bounced off the hard dry ground. Putting surfaces were green but not well maintained. Holes poorly cut. Traps need attention. Some were hard as concrete. Been there three times before in the last two years. Every time the course is in worse shape. Will not be back. Boulder Oaks close by is a great alternative. A short course but well maintained. Castle Creek needs a great deal of attention to be worthy of golf again. Don’t waste your time and money.

Greens are nice but that is the only highlight. Fairways are dead, rough has crumbled and turned to dirt. They obviously only water the greens. Won’t play again.

This used to be my favorite course. We got stuck behind a group of 5 old guys who each owned their own golf cart. The Marshall let them tee of with 5 which was weird because every other course doesn’t allow that. However we soon found out these guys lived on the course so they felt they were entitled. When we got to the 5th hole all of the guys thought it was ok to go inside their house and make coffee. We thought it was a joke but it wasn’t. After 5 minutes of them being inside the house about 5 or 6 foursomes were literally at a stand still because of these old jackasses. We called the clubhouse to get someone out there to fix the issue. The guy that came out told us they are old school and have lived on the course for a long time. Well good for them, none of the 20 – 24 people who had to wait on them really give a damn. You guys lost a lot of customers by letting the locals do what they want. Definitely never coming back! Not even for free golf after this experience.

DONOTCOMEHERE… play tiger woods on Xbox or PlayStation before you come play golf here… the course is in pretty rough shape at the moment(dirt fairways, slow/punched greens) and the WORST bartender in customer service history – her name is Stephanie in case you needed to know. She needs a vacation, a hug, or a raise to perhaps boost her customer service skills… basically, save your money, gas, and time… never come here. Ps the only professionals that work there is Ricky in the pro shop and the bartender that replaced Stephanie… thank you

Caste Creek is always a good choice for golf. The greens are in great shape and the fairways are green and roll well. The staff is friendly and the starters know how to keep things running smooth. I tried the nachos in the clubhouse and they are top«notch-o» with a nice view of the 9th and 10th hole. I noticed quite a few designer beers on tap. The teaching pro, Rex Choe, is a great guy and always greets you with a smile and is ready to help. The blacks are challenging for the low handicappers and the white are ready for a friendly fun round for the socializing. The Castle is always a good choice.

Great host, long green fairways, the course is great condition and fast greens. Not to mention it is like your on private course. :-)

This place is a cow pasture! The cows have left. «Fairways» are so hard it’s like hitting off of the cart path. Greens were nice and consistent so I give it an extra star. Holes are too close together so everybody is in your fairway. Felt like I needed a hard hat with all the«FORE“s being shouted. Facility was old and offered nothing. Tons of better choices in San Diego. I can’t believe we drove past The Vineyards to get to this gopher patch!

Decided to stop in since it’s the only bar by my house like usual. This time I got a bunch of crap because I used my amex. They take them but don’t «like» to. After I explained I was here the night before and there was no problem. So they ended up taking it like they always do. then started talking crap righr in front of because the real issue was I didn’t spend enough money this time. Apparently 4 beers of there craft beer is to small of a bill. The rudeness of there bartenders was unreal. They ignored me and wouldn’t give me a chance to order more beer. Plus there beer selection sucks and there liquor drinks are watered down

Greens are very well maintained and the course is beautiful. It is a challenging and fun course; well worth the greens fee.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. This place has gotten a lot better in recent months. The greens and fairways were in great shape. The marshall and starter were both friendly. The marshall actually stopped to help me find my ball. It’s a challenging but fun course to play. I will definitely be back!

Very disappointing that on the first tee box a fivesome goes out and the starter is well aware. The starter said, don’t worry you’ll never catch them. this round took nearly 5 hours to play on a slow Wednesday morning. The entire course was backed up and by the end of the round 4 open holes in front of the fivesome. We called the pro shop and requested to book a fivesome to sarcastically ask why we couldn’t when they declined. The Marshall finally made an appearance, but failed to split them up. Apparently, this is a regular issue because the course employees knew about it and allowed it. I will not be back.

Gopher hole had a New Years dinner special. We made reservations and had the Prime Rib meal for $ 25. The food was great and perfectly cooked. As for the temperature in the restaurant it was 58 degrees and everyone in our party was freezing. We kept our Jackets on during the meal. Decided to go someplace else after dinner because it was sooo cold. The Band was good but it is hard to dance in your jacket. I felt bad for the older folks who were freezing and left right after dinner. We asked a couple of times to please turn the heat on or up and the servers response was«It is an old building and the air conditioning didn’t work till half way through the summer and now the heater doesn’t work. I feel if you want your customers to come you have to make them comfortable. It is a great neighborhood sports bar with a great selection of beers but we will not be back until they resolve this. Sad because with some money invested the bar would do well.

To start off a bad day I had to fight with the pro shop to honor the 2 for 1 coupon I had. I saw that sometimes people have had problems trying to use coupons here, so I called ahead and talked to someone who said, yes they are valid, and if you use them at super twilight time, you will get that rate. We show up and a new guy is there, who says that they are only good for primetime. I argued, and we went back in forth on how other courses do it and how he does not care what another employee said. I was about 30 seconds away form leaving after he told me he has a degree in golf and doesn’t just work here(don’t know if that means he lives there too?) In the end after fighting with him he said he would give us the rate, as he should, but then said it was a one time thing. Which to me is no problem because after playing the brown grass course I will never go back.

Old, over priced, outdated, not worth the money. I can’t see how this place will stay open. Stay was nice but with the cost of water going up, the course is falling apart…

Gopher Hole review: lLet me start with the positive. For a hole in the wall sports bar, the food is pretty good. The Frisco burger was awesome and we also enjoyed the Carne Asada nachos and the Fish & Chips. The problem with the Gopher Hole is the employees. They all have bad attitudes and seem to hate their jobs. Olivia was our bartender today and she has no business being behind the bar waiting on people. She is friendly when you engage with her, but she is doing the bare minimum and not even trying to enhance your dinner experience here. When I asked her for ketchup, she grabbed a basket with all of the condiments and slid it about 6 inches in my direction, where I then had to get out of my chair and grab the basket myself. I asked another employee who was doing his homework on the computer at the bar what the bartender’s name was, and he responded with«you should ask her». This place has a bad reputation in the area and I can see why. Mr. Han: your business needs your attention. It has so much potential, but is being lost on uncaring employees that are just going through the motions and are not representing you well.

I am only reviewing this for the clubhouse restaurant«The Gopher Hole Bar and Grill». This restaurant was atrocious. The beer that I ordered tasted like it was served from lines that had not been cleaned in ages. I also ordered a soup and sandwich. The sandwich was passing, but the soup was pure poison. After one taste, I had to put it down. It was as though they used the soup to clean the place. So, nasty! If i were a member at this club, I would have to call Gordon Ramsey for a kitchen make over. This place is a real disaster.

I’d like to recommend you not try and book a weekend golf outing. They overbook, and dont have enough carts. The guys at the starter shed are rude, and dont seem to care if you play or not. We were there early, ready to go. But CC was running late at least 40 minutes. When I asked the starter about it he shrugged and said«what else is new». I might try playing on a weekday next time, just because its one of the few courses in SD county I haven’t played. I“ll update after.

The Gopher Hole sports bar is well… for a lack of a better term, a sports bar. The food is nothing to get your panties wet about. The best thing they have going for them is the 15+ craft beer on draft and of course the sports. The place is usually dead during the week and Fridays/Saturdays is when you can find a local band playing to their following. The bands vary from an all black jazz band, there’s a group called 760 and the lead singer has a mild heart attack on the floor while wearing a hazmat suit, to a guy that looks EXACTLY like Willy Nelson. Good local place(if you live in the middle of nowhere) to grab a beer with your old man or some buddies. Talk to Chris at the bar, the dude knows his stuff and knows customer service.
