The hostess was so rude. We were greeted by an eye roll and a whole lot of attitude. Sat at our table for 10 minutes and weren’t acknowledged by anyone. We are a patient crew so normally I would have simply gotten the servers attention, but we were so angered by the level of disrespect from the hostess, we decided to go elsewhere.

Absolutely horrible experience. Seated at 5, waitress first arrives at table at 5:25. Food finally arrives at 7:15. I can never come back.

Among the best meals I’ve had in quite a while. You should try some soon. Friendly service and a great casual feel.

So we LOVE to go out to eat and have a good time. This is by far one of the best places in Erie. Prices are excellent especially considering what you get. I had the Chicken Oscar and it was cooked perfectly. Dan had the Chicken Capone and it was fabulous. Soup salad and bisquits were amazing! We signed up for the VIP club and will be regulars.

Went out on a date night with my husband and we ordered a Walleye dinner and Chicken Parmesan dinner. Salad, soup and bread was delicious. My husband got the Walleye dinner and was very disappointed he pulled out 10 bones(they were the size of a half toothpick). My Chicken Parmesan was good but the mashed sweet potatoes tasted like they sat in a crockpot cooking all day and had a burnt taste. We showed the bones to the waitress and she did absolutely nothing about it. This is a place we would normally visit 4 times a year now it might be a couple years before we go back if we go back.

This place felt more like a bar than a restaurant to us. The bar area was full of older men who were well into having a good time on a Wednesday night and it was pretty dark in there. The food was pretty good. The wife had chicken wings and they were very good. I had some kind of burger it was dry and over cooked it wasn’t bad but nothing to get excited about. The service was slow but she was nice.

This place is a quiet little gem. The bar always seems packed by people that know one another or at least are known by the bartender. Also, the owner is usually there to make sure all is right. The food is good and the dining room is usually busy. The three piece combo that plays there is great. Recently they added an outdoor area for those warm days and nights.

Great owner! Great food! Great atmosphere! Wish the serve was more prompt with refilling refreshments. Also, thank God our food was perfect because she never came back to check if our food was prepared okay or not. We all had the chicken parm with angel hair. Italian dressing for salad really good too. ***only salad dressings they have are Italian, Ranch, and Den mixed with dry Bleu cheese.

The lounge isn’t nothing special but clean and a pub feel yes it kinda does remind me if the tv show cheers. They only 4 beers on draft however a very large liquor selection. The bar tender was a middle aged women And at first didn’t seem friendly took my order and disappeared she did have a large group in the other room. When she returned was very nice. I ordered the beef on weck and onion rings with ranch. Very good sand which and onion rings. The ranch was good to didn’t taste like some cheap store bought brand like other pubs.

Many have commented about the interior design of The Colony. I happen to like it. It does kinda set you back a few years, yet has a somewhat rustic elegance. What I don’t appreciate is the ratty washrooms. The menu is nice and the prices are good. I would like to see some additions to their appetizers. I had the Prime Rib and I could tell it had been warmed in the Microwave. The soup D’Jour I was told was tomato and shrimp based. It didn’t have any shrimp in it and didn’t taste very good. Other dishes served at the table were much more appetizing. There are several things that make this restaurant fall short of the mark. Little things like plastic Au Jus containers, fairly inattentive waitstaff, and a bustling owner/manager(I believe he was the owner) who apparently was more concerned about seating arrangements than meet-n-greet and customer satisfaction. My determination of a 3 star vs 4 star was made by two things: Would I go back? No. And the piss-poor(pun intended) condition of the restroom.

Where do I start? If you are old enough to remember the tv series«Cheers», then you will understand the Colony. Of course, if you walked into the«Cheers» bar once, then you could have a strange impression of it. I have been here at CPG more hours than I care to count. I am «almost» a regular. hahahaha. No really, there are many, many friendly regulars here, both at the bar and as dinner patrons. The food is a very solid American basic menu, nothing fancy or exotic, but basic and good value – they have prime rib, steaks, chicken, fish, pasta, etc. I recommend the steak tips as an appetizer, or any fish from the grill. A recent addition of a wood charcoal fired grill has been a great addition and a great taste upgrade for much of the food. It stands as a testament to CPG that many people over the years have used the restaurant for group events such as birthdays, funeral wakes, etc. etc. The service almost always is very good, and if you have bad service, trust me, that server will either get their act together or they will be fired in very short order. In fact, if there is a problem with your food or service, they make a strong effort to make it right. The other thing I should tell you is that it has a very different atmosphere, depending on what day and time you go. It can be very quiet or serene, or it can get crazy. At dinner time you have an older crowd with Frank Sinatra crooning on the jukebox with patrons quietly sipping wine and you can come back at midnight with twenty year olds pounding shots of whiskey to some screaming tunes on the jukebox and people sweating on the small dancefloor. That’s just the way it is, it has a great mix of people and atmosphere. Yes, the décor is dated,(although there has been some recent updates), but the décor is not the attraction, the people are, and it always has been and it always will be. I am sure there is not another place in Erie that you can find as diverse and friendly a crowd. If you are not a regular, stop in, it won’t take you long to meet people. I am a fan, and if you spend much time here, you will be too.

I stopped while traveling for work. As some reviews have suggested the environment could be consider a bit dated by some… I just find it «warm.» I appreciated the good service, the meal portions were larger than I would typically like but overall the food was good. It was just a quaint little place. I would go back.

My mother and I stopped here for dinner during our weekend trip to Erie. On the inside, the place is like a time machine from 1983, with outdated furniture, lamps, and décor. It looked like they are in the middle of renovations, since one wall appeared freshly painted, but the wall next to our table looked like wallpaper had just been ripped off. The waitress was friendly. I wasn’t expecting a huge beer list, so I wasn’t surprised to see the usual domestics and just a few bottles listed. It would have been nice to see a selection of local craft beer, like Southern Tier, since it’s relatively close. I wanted the Long Trail selection, but they were out, so I got a Red Hook IPA. Mom got some type of wine. We both ordered the perch sandwich with fries. First, there was salad and bread. We both had the salad added on instead of just having fries. There was more than enough salad and the blue cheese dressing was fresh. Mom liked the bread she had, I ate the two little jalapeño biscuits. They were really good! Once dinner came, Mom raved about her sweet potato fries, and my regular fries were good and crispy. The sandwich was good, but I abandoned the bun about halfway through and just ate the fish because I was getting full. Our total bill, with drinks, was $ 28, way less that I’m used to paying in Pittsburgh. So, if you can get past the outdated furnishings, it’s a worthwhile visit!

After a 45 minute failed attempt to find two separate bagel shops(both apparently are closed), I stumbled upon The Colony Pub and Grill. The outside was nice and inviting with cute shuttered windows and nice flowers. However once I stepped inside I felt like I had just stepped back into the late 70’s early 80’s. The inside is very dark(dark wood tables, hunter green table cloths, not a lot of natural light) which is great for the«Cocktail Lounge» portion of the restaurant but for a random Wed at 2PM it was a bit too dark for my liking. The pleasant surprise was my food and the WiFI! I ordered the Bavarian with ham and Swiss that came on a pretzel bun. Yummy! I chose the regular french fries as my side but you can select sweet potato fries, cottage cheese or homemade chips. French fries were crinkle cut with just the right amount of salt and pepper seasoning. My whole lunch was $ 9.00 including tip, not too bad. I will say I did have to stop myself from laughing out loud when my server brought out my lunch. It had one of those metal covers over it like you see at bad catered diners where they remove the cover in front of you. It just seemed a bit much for a lunchtime sandwich but then again, I would have expected nothing different from this place. I’d definitely check out the Colony again and next time I will call the restaurant I intend to eat at BEFORE I venture there.
