Went here just after Christmas and they were out of most gluten free options. Turns out the waitress told us they were closing there doors for good that week and were using up their inventory. Bummer because there was potential. Hubby is a pancake man and loved, loved, loved the blueberry pancakes. I had an omelet — meh– but the gluten free panini bread was super duper yummy made by a baker who wholesales to area restaurants. The rosemary potatoes were also delish. The owner came in and was talking to some customers and mentioned there was very little regular traffic coming through due to the road construction and they were losing thousands and could no longer stay afloat. A good reminder to support the local businesses being affected by this…

Dang. Bites decided to go ahead and make a breakfast plate just for me I think. It’s called the Southern Breakfast and it goes with two eggs(Nest Fresh, cooked however you like), your choice of ham, sausage or bacon(I chose bacon of course), a biscuit, grits and a side of sausage gravy. The Tennessee girl in me almost cried in happiness when I saw this on the menu because it’s pretty much what I try to make as a meal by ordering a bunch of sides any time I go to a place that has this kind of food. Of course, not everyone likes grits and gravy so I’ll let you in on the fact that they also have standard breakfast fare like pancakes or bennys, too. Beyond the food Bites has a full service espresso bar and a full liquor bar which means you can drink mimosas for breakfast, fancy coffee drinks, or coffee drinks with booze. You gotta love that. The place isn’t terribly huge, which is nice, and on a recent Saturday morning around 10:30 we had no trouble getting a table for four right away. Bites may not offer the über-cool factor of some of the other breakfast spots around town I like to frequent, but they have a good menu, solid food, and great service which is a win in my book.

So– this is gonna take some explaining since I generally LOVE this restaurant. I came here with my mom a little before Christmas. The only thing I EVER order is the Bites Benedict, a cup of coffee, and a bottomless mimosa. First of all the adorable hostess was amazing and SO helpful. I wish she was our server. our ACTUAL server didn’t even take our drink order, took FOREVER to get our order(we asked where he was and the hostess said he was in the restroom). NOJOKE15 mins later he emerged from the restroom and walked over to the bar for another 5 mins.(meanwhile my coffee AND my mimosa were replenished 3 times by the OTHER waitresses who were also adorable and amazing) when he finally came to take our order they weren’t serving the benedict anymore. who knows? maybe if he hadn’t been in the bathroom or wherever he was for 20 mins then i could have ordered it? so… fearing that i wouldn’t have the chance to order again for another 20 mins i just chose something on the menu i didnt really want(the frittata) it took forever to get our food(which normally never happens… it never normally takes this long) when my fritatta finally got there i swear i could have stabbed it with my fork and the entire thing would have come up in one thick jello-y piece of rubbery unappetizing egg. i tried to make it good by putting pepper, green onion, sour cream… ANYTHING on it. no. gross. and by this time i was kinda drunk and kinda pissed. This kid never checked on us the WHOLE time we were eating. I had to wait until my mom was completely finished eating and we were ready for the check to show him my ¾ unfinished fritatta and tell him i didn’t like it. and by that time i didn’t even have time to eat anything else. the manager was amazing. she apologized profusely and took it off of our check. needless to say he didnt recieve much of a tip, and actually wanted to give ALL the other waitresses and the hostess a tip since they were the only ones who actually helped us. I WILL come back for that benedict but i will NEVER have that waitor again. I understand people have«off» days sometimes so maybe that was his… but the girls seemed to be very accustomed to covering for him.

Good service but the previous review built the place up a bit much for me. Most of the food was very b An and the steak breakfast we received was straight of a menu to small for bakes teething. The apple cream cheese pancakes were awesome tho as we ordered a community plate but the bottomless mimosas were also alcohol-lis it seemed but other then that if snooze is over two hour wait I may return

After a rough night out for Halloween weekend, my friends and I were craving some breakfast foods. I noticed the bright colored building driving by early on in the week and was curious to see what this place was… so I Unilocaled it! … I am sad to say that I was disappointed … In my opinion, Bites is not better than Snooze. Sorry, folks… I would probably wait for an hour and half to eat at Snooze. All these reviews caught my eye, which built an expectation… but expectations were not met. :( I ordered Eggs Benedict on french bread. It was interesting, but it didn’t exactly satisfy. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? My friends and I also had a community plate of their pancakes… which were delicious! My friend had ordered some steak and eggs; the meal was very small. :( The service was okay. I had to share my friend’s cup of water and the waiter had forgotten my drip coffee… however, they are very friendly and nice. :)

Went for a late Sunday brunch. We were seated immediately — very nice considering Snooze was on a 1.5 to 2 hour wait! We ordered the special — 4 oz. Sirloin with demi glacé, 2 eggs(scrambled) & potato pancakes — $ 12. The sirloin was cooked perfectly, a nice med/med-rare, but the portion was bit on the small side. Also ordered the side of blueberry pancakes — $ 3, which were good but nothing special. Friends ordered the bagel sandwich, oatmeal and gravy fries. They said everything was good. I tried the gravy fries and they were tasty! The coffee was very, very weak… Service wasn’t stellar. The server seemed frazzled but was very nice. Overall, I would go back.

It used to be you could walk in and get an easy table on a Saturday morning at some of the Denver brunch spots, but it seems that is no longer the case. After hopping from spot to spot(all with hour wait times) we were ready to just go home and made breakfast like savages, when I remembered seeing Bites down in Englewood. We were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant only half-full, and sat right down to eat. The food was really good, and in addition to a regular brunch menu they even had a breakfast specials menu. I had the vegetable frittata with portobello mushrooms, potatoes, chives, spinach and swiss, and it was gigantic. Easily big enough for two people to enjoy. The coffee was no-frills, easy drinking diner style, which I don’t mind. I’ll definitely be back, and it’s good to know Bites is here, tucked away just a short drive(or bike ride or bus trip) from Denver.

Ok but definitely not great. I have to say that the service we got was excellent. The atmosphere also gives this place a plus. Unfortunately the food didn’t deliver… I’ll start with the better. The biscuits are delish! The pancakes are ok. Grits are good quality but are oversalted and peppered(too much for my taste). The rosemary potatoes have good flavor but I like mine with a bit of crisp from the pan, not mushy like they are reheated leftovers. The scrambled eggs are the absolute worst… they’re just broken, beaten and dumped on the stove to fry. To a scrambled egg lover this equal a nicely cooked egg does not… Somebody mentioned this place is better than the Snooze; not if you judge by their food.

This is a great find! What a fun breakfast joint. I am not much for breakfast, although I know I need to be — Breakfast is the most important meal of the day I hear… After reading my Unilocalers thoughts I decided to go in for later breakfast, more like lunchtime on Sunday. Sat at the bar and decided on a freshly made mojito, although a bloody mary with bacon infused vodka caught my ear — maybe next time. The woman bartending, Lisa was fabulous! We chit chatted about flavored vodkas, espresso, customers, and life. Later I found out I believe she is the owner. Very nice woman, very personable, and I will go back just to talk to her again. I ordered the bacon eggs Benedict. It arrived promptly and was served over home made biscuits, you could totally tell. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the hollondaise was perfectly delectable, and the bacon was crispy. Oh, did I mention how flaky and wonderfully delicious the biscuits were — because they were. I couldn’t eat the entire thing, it was so filling. I will come back for the good conversation and great food. Solid 4 star breakfast joint. Let’s see if they can win me over for a 5! ***I didn’t ask but it appears as though their hours may be changing. It looks like they are open for lunch and dinner now.

Best little unknown place ever! It’s not often that a restaurant’s outer appearance reflects its food and inner ambiance, but that’s what you get with Bites. Warm and colorful best describes the feeling you get when you walk in and when the food arrives at your table. Well-executed breakfast and brunch classics make it a better version of Snooze without all the much-ado trendy/hipster hype. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. Bites is a must-try!

This past Sunday my wife and I ventured out of the house for breakfast. We still had a Groupon to use at Breakfast on Broadway so we drove that way again. We arrived to find a line out the door and decided to walk over to Bites, a newer café that we had noticed a few times before. It’s only a block or so north on Broadway, so the walk was simple. We arrived at Bites to find it halfway full. After quickly glancing at a menu we decided to grab a table for the two of us. We both started with a chai latte, which came served in a pint glass. I enjoyed the drink very much, but my wife thought it could have been hotter. When her chai gets too cool, she doesn’t enjoy it anymore, and she wasn’t able to finish the entire thing. We both decided to order items from the specials, not from the menu. I ordered the biscuits and gravy while she ordered the pumpkin and walnut pancakes. She also added a couple of eggs while I also chose an order of the rosemary potatoes. Overall, the food was very good. I could immediately tell that the biscuit was baked from scratch, and it tasted wonderful. The accompanying sausage gravy was also very good with nearly enough spice for me. I added a little Cholula(as seen in the first photo) to spice it up even more. The rosemary potatoes were also quite delicious, but weren’t served as hot as I would have liked. My wife’s pancakes were also very good and didn’t even need to have any maple syrup added to them. We will definitely be back to try more of their delicious food.

On the recommendation of some fellow Unilocalers I decided to try out this place on a slow Tuesday. I got to the restaurant around 1:00 and thought at first it might be close because there were no cars in the parking lot. Much to my delight I found they were in fact open(they are closed on Monday’s now though). I was quickly seated and was the only one in the establishment other than two wait staff. Since it was early I decided not to try the bacon infused bloody mary which I heard such good things about… but I will certainly come back and try that on another day :-) I decided to go with a Unilocalers recommendation and get an omelet which comes with rosemary potatoes(home fries) and sourdough toast. I decided upon ham and brie for the omelet and also ordered a scottish egg because I’d never had one before. The food took longer than expected.(Especially since I was the only customer). But, the waitress soon came out to explain that the scottish egg was giving them some problem because it wouldn’t fry correctly. Shortly thereafter she brought out my omelet and sides while they wrestle with the fryer. How was the food? Well, I would say mixed with some real highlights. The omelet was really not that good at all. It was overcooked and really dry and rubbery. There was no taste from the brie or ham and all you could taste was dry egg. I think perhaps it sat under the lights too long while they were trying to get the scottish egg to come out perfect. However, the rest of the meal was really good. As another reviewer said, their bread(and therefore toast) are delcious. I could have eaten another three stacks of that toast. I usually don’t go out to a breakfast place for toast… but this stuff was amazing. Also, the rosemary potatoes were really good. I wish they would have green tabasco or smoked tabasco, but I’ll survive with just regular. So potatoes and toast… two thumbs way up. Omelet, two thumbs way down. Shortly thereafter the scottish egg game out and all of that hard work paid off for the cooks. It came out perfect and delicious(thank you cooks… I know it was giving you problems). The scottish egg game with two sides, maple syrup and the most delicious creamy horseradish sauce I’ve ever eaten! So yummy! It was perfect and well worth the wait. Really I’d give this place more like 3.5 stars if I could. All of the sides I had were really good, I was just bummed my main item(omelet) was so bad. But overall, I will definitely come back and try out some of their other delicious looking menu items(oh yeah and that bacon infuse vodka… mmm!)

Very affordable and good eats. Never really have to wait to grab a table for breakfast which makes it a great alternative to Breakfast on Broadway. Haven’t tried dinner or lunch but would like to try that out next! Try it out! Pros: Great prices, good service Cons: Natta

Had a class across the street and needed to find a quick bite that wasn’t fast food. Noticed the cute signage and popped on in. Quirky, curious space; not big at all but for the amount of people there it was adequate. There appears to be a full bar where you can ALSO order breakfast and other meals. I sat at the bar with my child(I was surprised) and asked them to hurry out a couple of bagel sandwiches so I could get back to class on time. Service was top notch; they obliged my needs and got us out the door with a couple of boxes of hot, tasty food that held us for the remainder of the day. I’d like to go back and try their other offerings, including the drinks. The bartender was mixing a bloody Mary that looked killer!

The only place in this town that has real southern, non instant, grits. This place is better than Breakfast on Broadway and something like The Villiage Inn, but it is no nearly as divine as Jelly in Capital Hill. The cinnamon rolls leave a lot to be desired and I wish they would charge a dollar more for blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries and not canned.

Oh Bites, you dissapointed me yesterday. We went for breakfast and took my aunt from out of town. Upon arrival about 11:30am the place was busy but no one else waiting. When we saw the back booth people leave we thought great we should get right in. The lady manning the front was rude and said she didnt know how long it would be and we could sit at the community table. I told her we’d wait and my aunt made a joke saying we can clean off that back booth if their busy. She told us there were several people before us. We looked around wondering where they may be? 15 min later the place is getting busier and she comes back to deal with the wait list. She calls the«several» people before us and one ate at the bar and the others were at the community table. Lo and behold we are next and seated at the back booth. We order food took longer than usual and my mom got her crepes without potatoes. I ask the waitress if their supposed to come with potatoes and she said oh yes im sorry. My aunt even asks will it take long and she says no. 15 minutes later here they finally come. I ordered english breakfast tea and she brought hot water a holder of tea bags with everything but english breakfast in it. Needless to say the atttention was lacking by all staff on this day. :(

What a difference seven months make! Brent and I went to Bites for brunch today. It was about 11am and the place was hoppin’! We were able to score two seats at the counter. Had we arrived just a couple of minutes later we’d have had to wait a while! We both ordered omelets, mine was Ham and Brie and Brent had sausage and cheese. Our omelets were delicious, but the stand out for both of us were the homefries-a generous portion of perfectly seasoned and fried carby goodness! Speaking of carby goodness, the toast was delish as well, they bake all their own bread and pastries and breads at their Littleton bakery. I had the seven grain, Brent had the sourdough. Both of us finished our toast and neither of us ever do that! Service was attentive and friendly, the woman who was serving the counter made sure my coffee and water stayed full and we had a delightful conversation with the general manager towards the end of our meal. I’m very happy to see this little eatery doing so well and can easily see this becoming a regular brunch spot. On a side note, the guy sitting next to me was a fellow Unilocaler who was checking in… looking forward to comparing reviews…

*UPDATE: to be fair, the owner contacted me and let me know that it was an emergency situation with the cook up and quitting while he was out of town. I will gladly give this place another shot when I am back in town and update my review. I was shocked at my experience here today after reading so many wonderful reviews. I came in about 8:30, and there were 3 couples seated in the restaurant. I got seated almost immediately. I watched the hostess and another staff member talk behind the coffee bar, and waited about 5 minutes before a 3rd person showed up to take my order. After the rave reviews I ordered the Caramelized Banana French Toast and a side of Potatoes. While I was enjoying my coffee, an old couple at the table next to mine received their orders, both the caramelized french toast. After they took a couple of bites, they proceeded to call the waitress over and complain that the bananas tasted off, and one of theirs was cold. I thought they were just being crabby old people(my apologies to the couple) so I dismissed it. They ended up grabbing an item from the pastry cabinet instead. I sat and waited quite a while. I emptied my coffee cup and nobody came over to refill it, even though I observed a total of 5 staff members walking around the restaurant. It took over 20 minutes for me to receive my food in a relatively empty restaurant. As the old couple was leaving, the old woman looked and me and said«Good Luck», which I laughed off. The service was awful. However, I was hoping it would be made up with some delicious french toast. I received my food and immediately went for a banana. Now I knew what the old couple was talking about. It tasted like somebody caramelized a banana that had turned brown and mushy. I pushed those aside and started to work into the french toast only to encounter bites of very eggy batter. I decided not to finish the french toast. I would love to comment on the quality of the potatoes that I ordered, however they didn’t actually bring them out to me. I paid up, and as I was leaving, a guy walked into the restaurant. I couldn’t help but look at him and say«Good Luck» as I left never to return.

It’s a secret! A bloody wonderful secret! One you wouldn’t even tell your best buddy. A secret so wonderful that angels and hares have promised not to share with another living soul. But, I am going to share it with you. .. and you can’t tell a soul. Promise? Are you absolutely sure? Ok. .. here goes. I am sharing, but be careful not to tell anyone. Remember anything this good must remain our little secret. Got it? «Bites Coffee Bar & Bistro» is a new discovery for me. I was given the opportunity to try this little spot. Just a little place on South Broadway. As I entered the door I knew that this wasn’t going to be an average dining experience; nor was it going to be a good one. .. . it was going to be one of the best bloody meals I have had here in Denver. I took a deep breath and jumped in with both feet. It was like jumping into a dining experience that makes you wonder why so many places do it so wrong. .. when there are a few who do it so right. «Bites» does it superbly right. Our server: She was top-of-the-line customer friendly. She made us feel like our presence was the most important thing on her agenda that afternoon. Our food: Choosing something off this amazing menu was an experience in itself. We opted for a glass of wine while we read the many options. We asked for recommendations. We pondered. We discussed. That just made the choices more difficult. It all sounded so good. Once we made up our minds, our meals arrived quickly. Presentation was wonderful. .. . taste was even better. We ate every last bite. Every. .. last. .. bite! This is one of those places I would drive from the other side of town to eat at again. It is also one of those places that is so good that I do not really want to tell anyone. But guilt has me by the taste buds. .. it really is too good not to share.

A cozy little spot on South Broadway to grab a bite. On my most recent visit for lunch, I selected the half soup & salad. Pretty reasonable for around 7 bucks. The crab & lobster bisque was a no-brainer, but I was torn on the«steak & potato salad.» «Really, there’s potatos in the salad?» The server convinced me, «there something about the rosemary potatoes with the vinagrette of the salad that really makes it work.» Dang, she was right. That salad worked. And the bisque was a delicious change of pace from the usual soup offerings around town. Definitely check it out if you have time to linger over breakfast or lunch. I’ve also used Bites for a large catering order and they came through for me with 6 stars. I would use them again for small or large lunch events. Their food was fresh, unique and plentiful. That BLT with avacado was awesome…
