Great coffee and more than anything I love the Victorian atmosphere! I used to go there all the time to sit and chat with friends before I got married. Need to do that again! Great memories to be made connecting with friends and then going for a walk on the beach. :-)

Extremely charming yellow Victorian style Maison that takes you back to the good old days(what I assume the good old days were like…) Homely, cute and a coffee-lovers heaven It’s the type of place you are gonna go to chat and catch up over a cup of coffee! The upstairs deck is so cute and you can hear the chirping of the birds Got the Moroccan tea latte and it was really tasty… Not the best I’ve had but definitely up there Wrap around porch and cute little seating areas sprawled out. This place is a must see if you are in Encinitas

Cute location with potential but the average coffee and the snotty baristas make this one a downer. If I’m paying $ 5 to go out for a coffee, I at least deserve a smile, right? Went here on two occasions and got the huffy eye roll type attitude from all the girls behind the counter. Names for coffee drinks on the menu don’t have descriptions either and asking what they are is also met with the«you’re an idiot» face. If you’re into your coffee and want good service, try Bird Rock Coffee Roasters or Zumbar.

Cute stand alone victorian style building that was at some point converted to a coffee house. This Pannikin café is located on 101 and fits right in with the whole laid back Encinitas vibe with a large outdoor patio, where you can sit and enjoy the sun rays and watch the cars go by. I wouldn’t say that they have a good breakfast selection, just a few very simple scrambled egg dishes and a few quiches. I think people mostly come here to have coffee and pastries. Speaking of baked goodies, the variety of muffins is incredible! All of the pastries on display look huge. I opted out for a plastic wrapped large slice of banana bread since I’ve read that they have a fly problem and they crawl all over the the desserts. I had to give this place 3 starts because there is NO wifi. I came here to have a coffee and catch up on some work stuff. This is a first coffee shop without wifi ive been to in SD. Bummer!

Super cute spot, parking not bad considering location. However, no WiFi and I’m not sure which was worse, the Chai or the attitudes of the baristas. Not super welcoming. Maybe this was an off day; this place was recommended by a friend. Bad enough that I won’t be back, though.

This place has good vibes and even better coffee. I don’t understand why people take away their well deserved 5 star rating because they don’t have wifi. Honestly it’s nice to have a coffee shop not filled with laptop unsocial loners who take up entire tables that could seat 4 people. This is a place to relax with friends, not a place to zone off at a screen. They layout and aesthetics of this coffee shop is my favorite part about it. It has an open barn feel to it and starving artist artwork filling up the walls. I will defiantly be returning!

My husband and I stopped by here on a little vacation to Encinitas and we saw that pannikin was a cool local spot to visit. While the building and space was cool, the staff was very apathetic and my iced mocha was super uneventful — it was pre-made in a large pitcher, the barista just poured it into a cup. Can’t speak about the other drinks but I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody looking for high quality beverages.

NO. WIFI. It would be 5 stars but… no Wifi?! At a Café? And when I searched for Café’s on Unilocal with Wifi, it popped up as one. So I went there. and it had none. No bueno, Unilocal! PRO’S: Awesome ambiance, plenty of street parking or park out back. Outdoor seating, multiple levels of indoor seating. Tons of drink and delicious pastry options. Healthy options too. Cute things for sale to the right when you walk in. Really fun atmosphere, and plenty of seating options :) Cons: no wifi, and can be a bit chilly if youre sitting near open entrance areas.

Been going here for years! They know how to pour a good foam on their coffee drinks. The pastries aren’t your Starbucks cheap faire, give the dream bars a try if you love sweets! Food to order is always fresh and tastes great. Best part of the ambiance? No wifi. People are actually socializing and talking to each other. It’s amazing!

If you’re going to go to Pannikin, this is the by far the best one to visit. If you’ve never seen it before, you’ll surely notice it when you drive by! It’s an adorable yellow house with a large front yard area and right next to a tranquility garden. I think the best part for me is the ample amount of seating available. It’s a great spot to come relax with a cup of coffee and know that you won’t have to battle for a table. That being said — this is a place you should try to unplug at(they surprisingly have no wifi). The muffins are amazing — I have had both the chocolate and pumpkin! I’ve also made the mistake of ordering my own instead of sharing… They’re huge and could be shared between at least 2 people! Both the iced mocha and iced americano seemed a little watered down to me — so I would recommend trying their hot drinks. Overall a great spot that I would love to come back to again and again!

I’ve driven by this place so many times and finally got around to trying it for brunch today with my boyfriend. I ordered a white mocha and the lox plate, he got a double cappuccino and a lox plate as well. Both were absolutely delicious! I order white mocha at almost any coffeeshop I go to and the coffee here has great flavor(being organic is a plus too!). The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the wait was not nearly as long as I was expecting for a 11:30 Sunday brunch even though it looked crowded from outside. There was plenty of seating on the patio and the weather was perfect. The food was prepared quickly to my surprise as well. My only complaints are that it was a bit chaotic and unorganized when trying to pay once we reached the register. There were about five people standing by the two registers, but I don’t think anyone can help you unless they were the person who initially took your order, so we just had to wait awkwardly at the register for a bit while people behind us went in front to pay. Also, each of our lox plates only came with about two small slices of smoked salmon, so it only ended up being enough for about half our bagels. I definitely want to come back to try their other brunch plates though. Their quick and friendly customer service and delicious coffee is definitely worth it!

Pannikin is an extremely cool spot with a hip vibe and some delicious pastries to accompany your tea and/or coffee. This place is always freaking crowded, especially on weekend mornings… You’ll find yourself waiting in line but it is oh so worth it. The cinnamon rolls are delicious and the various cobblers are ridiculous. The drinks here are delicious with a plethora of coffee options and some really great teas as well. The ambiance is a bit old school but extremely laid back as you can order your product and lounge outside on the patio or the lawn. Not too bad of a joint to get your coffee fix, just be prepared to wait for a couple of minutes. Pros– Cool vibes Relaxed atmosphere Great tea Great coffee Pastries Pet friendly outdoor seating Homely feel Location Cons– Crowded on weekends Seating can be limited Parking

Pays to get here early. Traffic builds quickly at this place. Was able to get a parking space close, at about 10AM on Sunday. Rare. This place is a nightmare for anyone with ambulatory disabilities like me. Slopes and stairs abound. Good array of baked goods, even a few vegan items. Coffee was excellent, very hot. Barristers were very pleasant no matter how peculiar or complicated your coffee was. Attractive, quaint converted railway station. Road noise from 101 can be excessive at time. Fun, still.

A local favorite! I come here 1−2x/month.always to meet friends. It’s cool building, and their baked goods and desserts are to die for! I always have pie for breakfast to start with… OMG! you live once, so I like to switch it up and eat my pie first, then a sensible breakfast… if I have room. Alyssa behind the counter is so upbeat and friendly! She gives that place energy and is always smiling! She is adorable and really fits the place’s vibes. I love seeing her when I’m there! The coffee… excellent. I can’t really say anything bad about it OTHER than it is so busy, there is always a line to wait. But it’s worth it. But really… their pies. Did I say how amazing they are? ALL of them are good, but the coconut cream pie… I swear I’m going to look like a pie if I don’t stop eating that. I work out so I can eat their pies! Their breakfast muffins are HUGE… and their pricing is decent. So much better than a Starbucks or chain coffee place. It’s intimate in the way that you know it’s mainly locals there… not people trying to be trendy at a ‘hip’ coffee house. It IS hip… but in an Encinitas way. You get it if you are a local.

Been driving past this old remodeled train station for years. It’s really worth the stop just to look inside the building — nice restoration and love the antiques. Had the blood orange ice tea which was amazing! Fresh baked blueberry muffins just came out of the oven — so the review may be biased — but darn tasty muffin. Parking is difficult — but then again — parking is always difficult in California. Being pup-friendly is also a huge plus!

I’m not really a coffee house fan but that’s not important is it? I’m just not the kind of person that drives to a coffee place and hangs out but maybe I can change. Pannikin is a really cool place. It’s an old building, 3 floors, ground level, upstairs and below. And of course there’s the out front part. I think it may have been part of a railroad station many many years ago. that would explain the old style building and layout. Like the old Del Mar train station but way larger. Oh, I forgot. Del Mar tore that down. Fools!!! These places are a piece of American history. Well as cool as this is I don’t want to over explain but it’s really a chill place to sit, drink coffee or tea and eat a pastry. I just feel so relaxed every time I come to this place. Good vibe? Hell ya. Wait, that was too exuberant! Chill out. Heck yes. It’s a super cool friendly place. I’ll tell you something… if I lived within a block I’d probably be there every morning. What a great way to start your day — relaxed drinking your morning cup. I have a nice soft place in my heart for Pannikin and I’ve only just started going.

Pannikin Coffee & Tea is the perfect big yellow house to stop at to get your coffee and treat fix. I came with my family(7 in total) on a Sunday around noon. You can imagine this place is packed with people waiting for their tasty treats, egg dishes and multiple coffee and tea options. The line was long, but it moved fast with all the ladies behind the counter working away. As a group we ordered a lot, but I personally got the Greek Eggs, Blueberry Pie and an Iced Americano. The Greek Eggs: these scrambled eggs came with fresh basil, diced tomatoes, and feta cheese accompanied by a bagel to put it all on. This was not only delicious, but moderately priced around $ 6 — all it needed was a little hot sauce. Blueberry Pie: Tasted a little more like a dense blueberry bar. I think I had some high expectations that weren’t quite met. Iced double shot Americano: Delicious for a hot afternoon. I would love to come by the next time I’m around to try more of their menu!

Beautiful Coffee House located in a remodeled train station. I adore repurposed architecture, so as I was driving by, I had to stop. The service was fantastic. Even though the line was long, it moved quickly. I was even able to eavesdrop on the owner explaining to other curious customers about the history of the shop. The seating areas are plentiful and diverse. I only spent about 2 seconds looking for a place to sit. I think I spent more time deciding if I wanted to explore the upstairs seating or enjoy the beautiful day outside. Unfortunately the coffee was average and the cinnamon roll was a bit harder then I’d have liked, but it was still tasty. The menu is quite extensive, so maybe I just ordered the wrong items. I will definitely return and try some of the delicious pies that were staring at me through the glass case.

What use to be a train stop is now my most favorite café down south. Don’t be afraid of the line that will always be out front. It will move along and you will be rewarded with a great coffee flavored drink and an insanely good pastry that you can enjoy inside or outside this old train stop. Keep in mind, this is not starbucks or any other polished franchise. Enjoy the quirkiness and take your time hanging out. I am always looking forward to my next chance to stop by.
