This location has been in my hometown ever since I can remember, but it’s a shame the place isn’t as exciting as I hoped it would be upon checking it out. First things first: the prices. If you’re coming by yourself or one other, $ 6/HR per person is not too shabby, but when you have a larger group, this rate becomes ridiculous. $ 24 to play 3, maybe 4 games in an hour with a group? No thank you. They have regular competitions taking place, which at times makes the place feel extremely cramped. When it’s busy, you have to give more time to wait for surrounding tables to play, which is directly costing you money. Beer prices are about average for the area, but I can’t help but feel as though I’m getting ripped off every time I go here. They stress the quality of their tables, but the quality cannot compare to the price you pay, I’ll stick to 75 cent tables that don’t charge me a ridiculous hourly rate. It’s worth noting this establishment has been at this location for over two decades, meanwhile many other establishments in the shopping center have closed down; I highly doubt this location has had any sort of drastic increase in rent costs that justify these prices.

Good place, good beer, great pool tables! The pool table quality is unchallenged in North County San Diego. Jim, the owner, is a nice guy and comes by to meet customers frequently. Just worried about them because the center they are in are literally closing businesses right and left because the landlord wants to redevelop. So go in and check it out NOW. Who knows what the future brings with this gem.

This place is awesome. It gets packed on the weekends after 9 though so go early to get a table. The table closest to the door has smaller pockets than the rest of them. Staff is awesome and prices are pretty good.

Yes, you really can teach old dogs new tricks! My husband and I finally decided we’d have a lot more fun playing pool if we knew what we were doing, and came to Pacific Q for instruction. We were introduced to Rey and have started taking lessons. We’ve already improved immensely and it’s only going to get better from here. Rey is an awesome instructor who uses video to critique our posture and moves. The tables are larger than what you find in regular bars and a lot cleaner! We’re having a blast and will be back soon!

Weird spot. It’s good because they have so many pool tables so you can pretty much always get one but it’s expensive(I think it was $ 7 per person per hour. Yikes! $ 30 an hour? Eek) but the tables and equipment are all pretty decent. Juke box is fun. We started out Friday night here which was fun but we did not even stay for an hour. The crowd of people in there wasn’t really where we wanted to be. The bartender was like. Nice I guess? Oh they don’t have hard liquor either so. Yeah. I would need a few hard drinks to want to hang out in there all night.

Very nice tables. BUT, it’s $ 7 per person to play per hour. So $ 28 dollars an hour for our four person group is obviously not worth it. We will not be coming back. It’s too bad.

I am so excited to learn that Rey will be the house pool instructor at Pacific Q in Encinitas. I took a few lessons from Rey in the spring and he improved my game by several levels. First he captured my stance and swing on video so I could see how I was unconsciously making many mistakes. After correcting my stance, he taught me how to hold my swing arm and follow though properly. My game improved immediately! Next few lessons, he moved on to allow me to better understand where to hit the cue ball so I could predict where it would land after contact with the object ball. More than just learning English. This is very important if you are to run the table, specially in 9-ball. As a result of working with Rey, I came in second place in my UBA spring league and I have taken first, second and third place at PQ’s ongoing Monday Night 9 ball tournaments. Before my lessons with Rey, I rarely ever earned a place. So, of course, I am getting a lesson with Rey Friday night and am looking forward to it. I will continue because he’s been so valuable to my skill level. Thanks, Rey! And he’s a really nice guy! Also, Monday Night 9 ball tournaments have been going on for 3 years and is open for A, B and C level players. You can win good money, so come and check us out. Tournament begins at 7:30 pm.

Pacific Q is offering lessons. I’ve taken a few there with Rey and really loved working with him. It’s great the way he uses video and gives you a summary of each lesson so you can practice what you’ve learned effectively. He’s the best… working with players of all levels. I guarantee you will feel very comfortable with Rey, whether you are just getting started or want to move your game forward. Rey will help you for sure!

Jukebox, pitchers of beer & tons of pool tables. The bartender Brianna is super nice. Love this place! Such a great little local spot.

1st off I wish there was a 0 star option. 2nd if my boyfriend and I come in and play with another couple it’s $ 6 a hour PERPERSON, so it’s only $ 24 a hour for us to play lol. 3rd if your lucky boyfriend(skill level 4 in the apa) chops 1st and 2nd in the Monday night tournament… YOU’RENOTALLOWEDBACK. He chopped with our good friend who is a 6 in the apa(both 8 and 9 ball) and he is not allowed either. They run a handicapped 9 ball tournament, yet they can’t handicap them enough to make it fair for all players! The owner says we(the 3 of us) drive to far and just come in for the tournament, and no one that drives a hour plus for their tournament is allowed to play. I can’t help it that we all live in Ramona and no matter were we go it is a hour+ drive. He also says since we don’t come in regularly we are not allowed to play. He also said we didn’t come in and help support the business by buying drinks n what not… we spent a hour on a table we had to pay for, we bought energy drinks, and sorry the 2 drivers didn’t drink alcohol and in my case I have thyroid cancer and serious liver problems so I CAN’T drink. Forgot to mention their tables are terrible, the rails make the ball jump n shorten. The diamonds/dots around the table are not visible. The tables are slower than most dive bar tables. There is a huge pool community in San Diego. We(the pool players) ALLDRIVE A HOURTOEVERYTOURNAMENT. We all know each other. Wish I’d listen to all of the coast players when they said don’t go to pacific q. Literally all the pool players on the coast said that. And I forgot to mention the girl that runs it says my friend I was with told her he’s an 8 in the apa… that’s a lie!!! He has no reason to lie about being a skill level he’s not, since you can go on the APA’S website and see for yourself. Look up Joe Hampton and Ronnie Hirst. I hope the employees/owner go look at their skill level and then tell me how good they are lol!!!

This is a personal message to the owner. For ONE pool game we paid $ 15 dollars. For ONE pitcher of shitty Kona cheap beer, we paid $ 22+tip. You are absolutely out of your mind if you think that these prices are reasonable. I guarantee you this place will not make it! I promise you that many of my friends and I will not be back, and good luck! Thanks for the rip off!!!

Went here last night for the first time and I really enjoyed to laid back atmosphere. What makes this place great though is Cheri!

A perfect place to hang out with friends. I quit drinking a year and a half ago and love the atmosphere of pacific q, being more about the game than the drinks. The bartenders have always been great to us even though we only order energy drinks and I always make sure to leave a generous tip. I very much appreciate being taken care of when I don’t order alcohol.

I went there two times for playing pool and foosball. First one was on a Saturday night. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that crowded, which was good because we were able to choose the table we wanted to play. Tables, sticks and balls were in good shape and clean. It’s a nice place to hangout and spend an hour or two before you go out on a weekend night.

In my original review I gave this place two stars. In my previous review I mentioned prices being more expensive but I was wrong. After more research, I found that Pacific Q’s prices have actually been the same for 7 years($ 6 per person per hour). For the quality of the tables and laid back atmosphere there is no better place to play pool in San Diego! **Original Review** My wife and I went tonight and it was more expensive than I last remembered. It was $ 6 per person per hour. I thought it was less expensive than this but I guess I was wrong. Jim was really nice and so are the employees but I can honestly say price will keep me from going back again and is the cause for this 2 star rating. I really wish it was cheaper. I would suggest a membership fee or something to keep prices down. Great tables and cool atmosphere just lousy prices!

Figure Pacific Q is due an update. Management has upgraded the quality of the tables, as well as the décor. I’ve met up with my sister here a few times, and have noticed the improvements that have been made. The beverage selection has drastically improved over the years, as it’s not just macrobrew domestics on tap any longer. On an aside, as I’ve gotten older, I think that places like Pacific Q that are open to people under 21 are important to have in the community. I know my sister hung here in her minor days, and it’s good that the kiddies have a place to go that’s both out of the house and a safe environment. They definitely take their pool seriously here and it’s reflected in the quality of the tables and equipment. I’m used to the pool table that was in my frat house basement that had been fornicated on hundreds of times, to go along with about 300 gallons of Natural Light spilled on it, so in comparison, these tables are just amazing.

Pacific Q Billiards is an awesome place for great conversations and the company of the staff. PQ has a very versatile crowd, from Pro pool players to Amateur pool players. If you are looking for a good match you will DEFINITELY find one here. The music is not overly loud, you can carry on a conversation as well as actually be able to think about your game. The table roll is fantastic, you can tell that they take pride in their tables by taking care of them. Their house cues are in great condition, not beat up or missing the tips. They actually have sneaky petes’. I love the all white 18oz Cuetec Que, it is my «sneaky pete». Since I have been going to PQ I have learned so much about pool and how I am a pool shark! I am learning my stance, and how to control the game. What I have to do to make sure I hit the Que ball right in order to line me up for my next shot. This I was taught by many pro players at PQ. As a women, we appreciate a clean, stocked bathroom anywhere we go. Well Pacific Q Billiards has one of the cleanest, stocked bathrooms I have ever used at a billiards establishment. I recommend this place to all my friends and family. Keep up the great work PQ Team!

Chill place to hangout and have fun with friends. Anytime I come in, it’s pretty easy to get a table. It’s not the nicest place, but they have pool tables, beer and music. It can get a little expensive, but overall it’s a good time.

OK, I don’t know squat about pool, so please take that into consideration for this review. Overall, I thought the place was pretty fun. I went here with my hubby on a Friday night to check it out, and we had a great time. I think it’d be even more fun with a bigger group of people. The service was good; they even had us fill out a survey in an obvious effort to find out what they could do to improve the joint. Not knowing anything about pool table standards, the tables seemed totally fine to me. Their beer selection was pretty good too. It’s certainly not a place to go for ambiance… and there are lots of youngins hanging around. I personally prefer not to hear the loud outbursts common among a group of 16 year old girls, but I’m probably just getting crochety as I near 30.
