It’s intriguing to me that people Unilocal a public park with two stars. This is a great park — a free and safe place for your child to play. It’s one of the few areas with a basketball court and it’s usually open. It’s right next to the softball and soccer fields, occupying a large piece of land that could have otherwise turned into a housing development. I’m grateful for local parks such as Cardiff Sports Park.

First off, I love my phone. Being able to dictate a review while playing with my son(oh, I’m following after him as I do this) is a lot of fun. Not sure if that’s the kid in me enjoying new technology or if I’m just reveling in being lazy and not having to do this at my laptop, but who cares? The children’s play area for this park is not very big. A small field with a gazebo for snacking and lunching dominate most of the area. The playground itself has one of those rubber tops for safe jumping and falling, which I like, but it’s also surrounded by a very large sandpit with big-grained sand, making it tough for anyone to wear sandals and you can expect the younger kids to be tossing the sand everywhere(mine did … on another boy). The playset itself is made of dark brown and dark green plastic that becomes uncomfortably hot very quickly in the spring and summer sun. Still, it’s a good size with a lot of fun activities for any pre-kindergartner to enjoy. But, the worst part of the playground is that it is so close to the main road. A little landscaping and a small fence separate them, but there are still many ways for kids to jump down and run into traffic if you’re not paying attention; especially since many of the older kids have trampled lazy pathways of their own through the rosemary. There are a couple of other adjoining fields for soccer and baseball, but I would think most people would be interested in bringing their young children. As for that, on the funnier side, I don’t think I’ve actually seen many adults playing with their kids here. If it’s a blond kid, then the nannies are there to look after them; the darker haired kids have mothers that just sit on the benches drinking coffee and looking up news and gossip on their smart phones. Still, the small size makes it peaceful, and most people keep to themselves if that’s what you’re going for. In the end, coarse sand and bad coloring on equipment in a small area next to a busy road work against it, but it’s still a nice park in an nicely open field.

It’s a beautiful park that is well maintained. The sports fields, restroom facility, and parking lot are all well kept. If you work outside and need a place to stop for a fairly clean restroom or eat lunch, this a great park in the area. In the parking lot there are plenty of spots under shady trees where you can pull up, roll down your windows, and enjoy your lunch. At the time of this writing the baseball field nearest the restroom was having some minor detail work on the field(read: painting the foul lines). The soccer/multipurpose field behind the restroom was busy for a weekday with adults and children practicing soccer. Nice park all around.

I came here with my 3 year old and 20 month old for a park play date. There is one big structure and swings for both babies and kids. There is a big, flat grassy area right next to the play structure which is a great place to lay down a blanket. The grass area is surrounded by a walking path that is ideal for the kids to ride bikes or scooters. The parking lot is far enough away that the kids won’t wander into it without being noticed. The swings and play structure are in a giant sand pit that also has rubber flooring all around.

I’ve watch the Encinitas kickball league play here numerous times. As a spectator, I catch a foul fly ball which was aimed towards the gate entrance/exit into the field(where I was standing) once, the team was impressed and wondered why I wasn’t out there playing with them. I’m not one to gloat but I got skills & thank god I’m not sports retarded. =] So the last game of the season, I decided to play but only if they needed me to. And free JELLO?! Why not? I’ll play catcher.(ha ha) I should have caught that ball when the guy kicked it and it hit the top of the backstop. First time I was up to kick, I choked. The girl caught it. Second time, I was patient let the first pitch go past me and with a man on third base, I knew now wasn’t a time to mess up. I kicked towards the oaf between first and second base, and ran for my life. SWEETMARYMOTHEROFJESUS I made it, and I kicked the guy on third base in. =] Despite getting stranded on first base, I think it was quite an achievement. Beware of the people playing on the upper fields, so many foul baseballs ended up on the lower fields, while they(kickballers) were in the middle of playing. It’s a nice(sports)park, you can bring your dog(s). Ample parking. And not too far from the freeway. Those kickballs are hard & they hurt.(twss)

It’s a simple park of 4 ballfields(2 upper and 2 lower), excellent parking, and a bathroom facility. There really isn’t anything to critique of it since I see the park used often by everyone: Pop Warner, softball, soccer, and kickball occasionally! We used to play kickball here, but we moved our games to Magdalena Ecke, another cool facility! I prefer to play kickball here though. :P
