By far the worst visit I had at this location. I ordered two tacos received them one was cold the other was the wrong taco. I then proceeded to ask for assistance and they assured that I would get everything corrected … Forty Five minutes went by still nothing corrected cold food and wrong taco for fifteen dollars. I think not … No apology just a lousy not really caring attitude … Lousy customer service …

What sucks is El Cerrito Rubios is AWESOME, but when i order from grubhub i get stuck with the e’ville store which has screwed up every single order ive had. The last tacos had NO sauce on them. nothing but just cabbage. This time i asked to make sure they put sauce on, so what do they send? Tacos CAKED in chili powder!!! Its literally falling off the tacos there is so much. Then when grubhub calls them to bring me new food?.. they dont have time. i can only get a refund… no dinner. Never again. EVER. i will drive to the one up the road in El cerrito before i EVER order from this crap location again.

Ive gotten delivery from here twice and i’m hooked! I get the California bowls and per another reviewers recommendation I got the mahi mahi and asked for half of the rice to be substituted with lettuce…*perfection*. so good!

Had the California Bowl. Not worth the price. Looks a lot better in the picture. Stick with Chipotle for this item. Thumbs down.

I had the pleasure of attending yesterday before going into work and ordered a salad with salmon and shrimp. I go here all the time and the staff are all completely friendly and helpful at making suggestions. The Salad was beyond delicious! One of the managers, I believe his name was Ceasar made it and served it to me. All in all, a great experience as always!

I would never expect to give a chain restaurant a five-star rating, but I can’t stop thinking about how good my fish taco especial was. This was mild, crispy fried fish with thin sliced cabbage and guacamole in a fresh corn tortilla that I received in 5 seconds flat, topped with some salsa picante from their salsa bar. It had fantastic flavor and texture and didn’t scream«chain food» at all. This location appeared clean and the service was competent and friendly. I don’t know if I’d experience the same at other locations or even during other visits, but this gets a top rating from me for right now.

We went here on the holiday weekend on a Saturday and ate here after the movie for a quick bite to eat. I had the chicken enchiladas and birthday dude had the shrimp burrito. It was a ok for a quick bite. Our friends also had the burrito and California bowl.

This Rubio’s is fine. Healthiest option before going to see a movie in the mall. The bummer about this place is it can’t seem to handle weekends. People leave their wrappers everywhere, spill soda, mix the salsas at the bar, trash the bathroom. Maybe they need an extra person working? Regardless I’ll still come here if we’re looking for a bite before the movies.

The one star is for the food. It is pretty good and they have a nice variety. I ordered for pickup since I work in the mall all the way on the other end and by the time I even get to Rubios a third of my lunch break is gone. I called at 6:15, said I would be there at 6:30 and actually arrived at 6:50, expecting my food to be ready to go. After paying, the cashier grabbed a to go box and a wrapped mystery item and put it in a bag and handed it to me. When I got back to work I found the food was entirely wrong. And when I went back to Rubio’s I was told that I would have to wait for them to make my food(5 – 10 minutes) even though at this point I had called to order an hour ago. My lunch break had been completely wasted. I will probably never eat here again. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry or its busy.

You either can deal with Rubio’s and enjoy it or not. I happen to be a passive fan of their veggie soft tacos, veggie burrito and California Bowl, minus meat. It’s not food I’d seek out or go out of my way for, but this particular location fills a specific need-it’s right by the AMC theaters and great for a quick meal before or after the movies. It’s a chain but all things considered, there are some healthier options, a good variety of veggie dishes and a salsa bar with several options. This Rubio’s location tends to be clean and well staffed, when I’ve visited. They get a lot customers in and out the door, but they always seem to keep the tables bused, the utensils area well stocked and the salsa bar clean and fresh looking. For a quick and relatively cheap meal near the movies, Rubio’s fits the bill just fine. Good, not great. Average, not amazing.

We went there right after finished watching Starwar. We ordered surf & turf, lobster burrito, fish burrito and chicken tortilla soup. After a long wait, the food came out way below standard. You could tell they are barely slap the food together on the plate. Where is the beef? The soup is even worst it is very watery, no meat, no rice, no avocado… I could not believe what kind standard they use. I did even waste my time to talk to the manager. I will not go back there.

Tried their burrito and fish tacos, they were delicious! The special fish taco was really good, but there were too much batter on the fried fish, so it was hard to eat. Remember to ask for a small cup for drinks or you’ll be thirsty while eating!

THESTORY Went there on a Tuesday afternoon(around 6PM) and there were maybe 4 other customers but the other restaurants nearby(Buckhorn, etc.) did not have anyone else, so sis and I decided to go in. We had no expectations since we have never been to Rubio’s. I was pleasantly surprised by all the seafood options. Sis got 2 original fish tacos and I got the citrus shrimp burrito. PRO + food came quickly + fish tacos were delicious!(by the way, they are $ 1.50 each now during Taco Tuesday) The fish was crispy and actually tasted like fish not just flour. They were not skimpy with the fish. + burrito came with chips + lots of seating, can sit outside in the patio or sit inside in a booth CON — only 4 salsa at the salsa bar(mild, picante, tomatillo, and smoked chipotle) and they tasted like they came from a jar — the citrus shrimp burrito tasted like whatever, it is also skinny in comparison to chipotle burrito — presentation of the taco was ugly, they came out looking like cabbage-haired monsters but looks can be deceiving because they were yummy monsters! OVERALL Will definitely come back for the original fish tacos again during Taco Tuesday! And only the taco, don’t know if I want to try anything else on the menu…

The burrito is very delicious but it need to be a bit bigger. It’s a burrito not a vegan wrap.

I LOVE these fish tacos! The Coastal Trio platter of 3 is my favorite — that way I don’t have to decide which to choose. The shrimp verde taco is delectable. The original fish taco is sublime. And though I enjoy a few bites the spicy tilapia taco, after that the Serrano chile sauce makes my face sweat. For about $ 10 I can have a full belly, a sweaty forehead and a happy face.

I stopped by here after a movie to grab a salad and it was disappointing. For just under $ 10 I got a sad small bowl of wilted greens with long ago roasted veggies and 5 pieces of shrimp. It didn’t look good when it came out and it tasted ok. A humongous portion of dressing on the side did not help. The salsa bar looked good, but I didn’t try any with my salad. The service was super friendly and prompt.

Not much in the way of quick lunch dining around here, so Rubio’s stands out as acceptable. I waited briefly to order and subsequently waited and waited… and waited for my shrimp burrito with chips on the side. Total wait time was over 25 minutes during a not very busy lunch time. I counted only 2 good prep people… during lunch hours. This location is lucky they weren’t too busy. The burrito was decent but my chips were crumbled, clearly from the bottom of the bin. Half of them were so small that I couldn’t even dip them in my salsa. Burrito was blah. I would post pictures but after I took a pic of the front of the store a security guard popped out of nowhere and yelled at me for«taking pictures on private property!!!» Geesh. It’s a freaking shopping mall.

I’m going to be one of those weird people that say Chipotle gets old fast. When I started working at Bay Street, one of my coworkers raved about Rubios and I thought well, I haven’t eaten there in years. Well, who’s the duchess now? Haha. It’s not like I eat here all the time, but Buckhorn takes a while, CPK is a little pricey, and the burger place is always crowded. So it’s safe to say that this is my go-to for lunch. For the most part the workers are usually nice. Why is this better than chipotle? Can you get fish at chipotle? Salmon? Tilapia? SHRIMP? Don’t think so! I’m a seafood person, of course I love this place! Taco Tuesdays were my favorite day but now I go to school all day. But I highly recommend you come on that day. The shrimp verde and original fish tacos are the best. That’s all I usually get because burritos are too filling and tacos usually sit just right with me. Tacooooooooos!

Tried the Surf n Turf and it was pretty good. Maybe a little too much sauce but it was spiced right and tasty. The employees are friendly and work hard enough to meet the needs of this popular location. The salsa bar offers a nice variety of flavors. I’m always grabbing a good sampling of the their sliced jalapeños. The Surf n Turf meal comes with a side of refried beans and chips. Because of the location, this place gets a lot of foot traffic so the inside can be messy at times as well as the bathroom. However, the staff does put in a good effort to stay on top of things.
