It’s a nice pier for fishing and views of the beach and the Atlantic. There’s a little shop on it that sells tackle and everything for your fishing needs if you’re a fisherman or woman. They also sell snacks, beach apparel and alcoholic beverages.

I live near and frequent several piers in eastern North Carolina. This is likely the nicest overall that I have seen. The only negative that stands out is the parking is a bit tight. If you have a large vehicle it will sit line to line. My extended cab truck can barely get out without it being almost too close for comfort. On the list of positives. Good amenities nearby. All the necessities with rod/reel rentals and bait. I like that some of the benches give cover from the sun. This is a must on an all day fishing stay! Also, I love the observation deck. And there is a nice area to clean your fish. Overall, you can’t go wrong here!

This pier is definitely not just for fishermen! My husband and I went to this pier several times over the course of our week-long vacation in Emerald Isle. We saw numerous sharks(~12 on a couple different days!) jellyfish, and a giant sting ray. So cool! It’s nice to just walk up and down the pier and watch the fishermen do their thing, too. There is no charge to go on this pier, so I definitely recommend it to anyone in the EI area!

My children and I love to walk the pier at night. We have learned so much from fisherman telling stories, to watching great catches. We have watched sharks swim along and under the pier, Fishermen catching sharks and throwing them back in and many other exciting things. The employees at the pier are super friendly and excellent with children. We love the Bogue Pier– it’s certainly something that we look forward to every year!

Gives a very nice view of Emerald Isle. Worth the trip out there. Be prepared to rub elbows with all classes of Emerald Isle vacationers/residents.

Love the pier! We have a vacation place just steps off the parking lot. It’s nice to walk on at night, we love to fish there and just people watch. Mike is pleasant and gracious. Can’t wait to see the Open Air restaurant! Very disappointed the grand opening was postponed till 2015.

Not just for fishermen… Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is a near mandatory visit for any Emerald Island vacation! Boasting a 1000 foot long fishing pier that darts out into the Atlantic, the pier offers up some fantastic views and good fishing action as well! Located on the west end of the island, this pier is FREE if you simply want to walk the length of the pier for the views. There is an elevated observation deck at the end for awesome picture taking opportunities. Surfers seem to congregate a few hundred feet on both sides of the pier, so its a great place to watch them as well. As previously mentioned, it is free to simply walk the pier and sit down on one of the many benches. If you want to fish, the cost is $ 10/day and fishing rod rentals are available for $ 5 for six hours. Large selection of bait and tackle as well. This proves super convenient if you want to leave your gear at home. No fishing license is required since the pier management maintains a blanket license for the establishment. Light refreshments are available at the office(including beer) and the staff is awesome — very professional and accommodating. The pier is open 24 hours per day, but after 11pm only fishermen are permitted. This really needs to be a «must visit» for any Emerald Island vacation!

This is a must when you get to Emerald Isle. You have to go through a store to get on the pier. Staff there are very friendly. It’s free to park on weekends. I met up with my brother who was fishing on the pier. Didn’t seem like anyone was catching anything that day. They do King fishing at the end of the pier. It’s interesting to watch. and a great view of the beach from the pier.

Full disclosure: I know nothing about fishing… but I have been here several times just to see the pier. Seems like the place to be if you are interested in fishing, and it’s an interesting place with nice views of the ocean. The pier was originally built in the late 1950s, and has been partially destroyed by hurricanes and rebuilt several times.
