Table of three waited one hour for food on a Sunday morning that was not very busy. Waffle iron out of service, ran out of apple juice, ran out of biscuits. Pancakes with fruit were served as two blackened patties with five still frozen strawberries on top. Will not be returning.

I’m rating it a 4, but it could be more. My wife and I stopped here today for lunch. It’s in a location that has had many eateries over the years. The last several, have been less than spectacular. This one I do believe is a winner, I just hope the public realizes what a possible gem this place could be. There is not much to distinguish this place from the last place when you walk into the door. However it is quite clean, the place has been freshened up some, and it just feels cleaner. The staff is new and feeling their way around the menu, which by diner standards is not very large. That in my opinion is okay. Lets face it, Diners are about eating out, but eating out when you really want to be home. I want food that is tasty, familiar, and will get me through the day, and not take too much money out of my wallet. This is such a place. My wife ordered an appetizer, the Loaded fries. They came in a decent sized basket, Fresh cut french fries with a nacho cheese sauce, thick cut bacon pieces, with sour cream and jalapeño pepper rings on the side. Very tasty. $ 5.79 . I ordered the daily special it was Tuesday so it was the Meatloaf. I very often order Meatloaf the first time I go into a Diner, that I might return to. Meatloaf is one of the easiest things to make, it is also one the easiest things to make cheap. I measure a diner by how it makes its meatloaf, if it’s good quality, and reasonably priced, more than likely it will be worth trying again, because they don’t try to push cheap food onto your plate. They care. This was some of the best Meatloaf($ 7.49) I have ever had in a Diner, bar none. It truly reminded me of my wife’s and mothers recipe. Good quality meat, minimum filler, some onions, and just a hint of seasoning. The platter came out with 2 large pieces, probably enough for two regular eaters, or one guy that eats like a bullfrog(me). I ordered it with french fries and gravy. The fries were also fresh cut. Crispy on the outside, but not crunchy, and tender on the inside. The gravy was what I call Diner industrial strength, but not the cheap crap that you often get in a diner. It was very tasty, perhaps a little salty, but In my opinion, just right. It took me back to the Old Dixie BarBQue french fries and gravy, I used to get out at the curb service on a Friday and Saturday night after way too many beers and combats at Sam’s. It made me smile. Those who are old enough who may read this review, will know what I mean. The platter was accompanied by a tasty salad with a good variety of Greens and salad vegetables. It was clearly made a head –of-time though and stored in the refrigerator, but it did not have that«been there too long» taste. I think they were just anticipating the lunch crowd. Which brings me to the main reason I am reviewing this local place with only one visit. It was 1 pm and there were a few cars in the large parking lot, and only about 10 customers inside. I realize this place is new, but I really think this place deserves to succeed. The staff is new and still feeling out the place, so mistakes will be made, I’m sure. Our server was fine, she brought the wrong salad dressing, but I didn’t correct her, and it turns out what she brought worked very well with the salad. She was attentive, but not hovering and refilled my drink promptly. The bill came to $ 14.39 for the two of us. On the way out, we bought a huge filled lemon bar, that was probably big enough for 4 people. It was $ 2.99. We had some when we got home and damn it was good. I plan on trying this place again in the next week or so, just because I think I may have found a 5 star, and I want to make sure.
