Yorky’s Fast Food

There is just so much I love about Yorky’s! The gyros are not greasy and portions are unreal. Just order an extra pita and you have two meals. Salads are amazing, especially topped with their broiled chicken. Chicken skewers and rice make a healthy lunch or dinner. The service is fast, friendly, and accurate. I use them for catering too and am never disappointed. Order ahead and pick up or they will deliver. This family-​owned business is a gem!

York’s is one of my favorite restaurants. Their Greek chicken with rice and salad is perfect.

Consistently amazing food and generous portions! I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience. Check it out!

I got the worst stomach pain after eating their gyros. Other people got diarrhea.. i am not risking eating here again.

Ok you cannot beat this place for a grill chicken Greek salad the biggest and best!!! They have huge gyro plate dinners too. They recently remodeled and it is beautiful!

Came in a few weeks ago with some co workers. I hadn’t been in here since 2006.
They have remodeled and it looks GREAT!!!
It used to be just another counter to order at and pick up your food, nothing special.
Well, it now looks pretty darned upscale!
The food is the same delicious food I enjoyed the last time I was here!
They are fast, accurate and great for take out or dine in.
I would certainly come back in for more!

First off — I must say this is the first review I’ve ever written immediately following a meal or dining experience… I will just say that right now, I am not a happy eating camper.
This is another case of — I was craving a childhood fast food memory, and it went ALL WRONG…
I grew up with Yorky’s. They’ve been around forever and while I never frequented this fast food place known for their broasted chicken often, I will say I’ve had it more than once. Back then I thought it was pretty good. Fast forward to this visit (& decades later) and I felt it was OK.
Not the best broasted chicken I’ve ever had. Not crispy. Nothing screamed
«Wow I need to get this chicken again.»
I placed an order to go and hadn’t eaten anything ALL day. Around 6pm to say I was starving is an understatement. It didn’t help that they screwed up my order. I asked for 2 pieces of white meat and instead received one wing & one breast. I also ordered a gyros plain with a side of tzatziki. I was VERY disappointed in the quality of this meat. Even though they give you a ton of it, I didn’t care for it at all. I expected much better quality. The tzatziki had way too much garlic & salt. Chicken was fresh and moist, but other than that — there’s not much else to say… other than.
The cheese fries were probably the worst I’ve ever had. Fries tasted frozen, undercooked and lacked any salt. Again, poor quality. They were horrible.
It takes a lot for me to give 2 star reviews — and the fact that I would have eaten (almost) anything — and was looking forward to having Yorky’s again, was a HUGE let-​down and a testament to how disappointing my meal was.
They may have some other decent menu items, but I will never come here for a gyro’s again, especially given the price $ 6.50? I don’t care how much meat they give me.
Not sure I’d even stop back for their chicken — I felt it was no big deal.
(I will say they did a nice job on the remodel).
For a great tasting gyro, I’ll stick with Stav’s on Lake. Truly much better quality, I even think their pita is far superior.
Perhaps this was an isolated incident or I caught them on a bad day?

So, the new location is really great. The service is great, and now I can order and pick up at the pick up window! I loved this place before the redo, and it’s even better now! The food is the same as before, which is good. because it was the best before.
I have tried many of their foods and have never had anything I didn’t like. I usually order the kabob, because I love it. However, I also really enjoy the broasted chicken… and I occasionally get the gyro salad… really, the kabob is my favorite but I just love every single thing…
Even though they get very busy, they are still usually very quick. The people who work there are always nice, and I just love this place. It’s one of the best.

My favorite spot in town, excellent food with outstanding customer service. The Chicken platter dinner and the Gyros are my favorites.

We’ve been going here for about 4 years love the grilled chicken dinner plate. I honestly have not ordered anything else from there since I first tried it. I have tried other things friends and family members have ordered. Their Gyros are delicious the homemade sauce was a little strong but still good. Their pasta with meatballs was pretty good. My dad loved their regular chicken. Our little one always gets their hot dog & for 50 cents more gets a side of rice. The staff has always been attentive, helpful & sweet. If you haven’t been here yet your missing out. It’s a nice family place that got even better after their remodel. Same great staff with some extra cashiers, same great food & ton’s more space.

This was hard to give only 3 stars. Id say more 3.5 stars. Ive been coming here for over 20 years. I love the redesign! The food has always been very good for a fast food joint. The burgers are top notch, beef sandwiches are always good, but the last few times the gyros have lacked flavor. Maybe its just the stock, ill still keep coming for the other menu items.

Quality fast food.
Get the chicken. It is good stuff. The pitas, rice and fries are all worth it.
Prices are reasonable.
Free parking lot.

I was starving and after a very quick Unilocal review of this place, I decided to give Yorky’s a try. Even at 1:30, the parking lot was pretty full so I took it to be a good sign. I ended up getting the gyro dinner plate for $ 11 and it was so much food. I was thoroughly impressed at how much meat came on my plate and did make 3 meals out of it. That plus the Greek salad, the fries (their rice and potato looked great as well), pita and delicious tzatziki sauce really hit the spot. This is one of those quick and tasty places that you can always count on and won’t set you back a lot. I am definitely a fan of this place.

Updated from 4 to 5 stars because the new location looks great and can accomidate MUCH larger groups now.
Fantastic Gyros! I think I visited all places that serve within 10 miles or Yorky’s. This one ranks best for me but a few adjustments are needed. Plenty of meat, proper slice size, grilled pita. The only think is you NEED to remember to add extra sauce. I just can’t see how one side (2oz) is enough for anyone. Be sure to get 2 sides given how much meat they give you. Crispy edges on the meat and you can request extra crispy.
Kids get the ‘olé standby, hot dog only ketchup. Plenty of choices for the kiddos still but we haven’t tried them.
Tilipia dinner is also a winner but I suggest you get it extra crispy.

OK, seriously people, I was impressed with this place! How have I never heard of it before? The hubs grew up in Villa Park and he was unfamiliar with it too.
We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday and were blown away. The portions were HUUUGE and the food was so delicious. We were happy to have leftovers for days!
Can’t wait to come back and try other items.

My finance and I recently went here for carry-​out, so I can’t comment on the dining experience. But based on the quality of our food, this is definitely a place we will return to. We both ordered the gyro platter — HUGE portions, crinkly fries were crisp and hot — and they gave us extra sauce. Ingredients were fresh and prepared very well. Not greasy at all or dried out. Tomatoes were cut into perfect little wedges for easy assembly, onions were not over powering and the meat had exceptional flavor. Service was undeniably fast, and the cashier was friendly and had an inviting smile. My only disappointment was that they ran out of homemade baklava.
Highly recommended.

My coworker and I went in here for lunch today after we heard that they remodeled. The décor is very nice– from the wood tile flooring to the glass and natural stone ledger on the wall. This place looks much nicer than you think a «fast food» place should be. The menu is extensive– from salads, sandwiches, to broasted chicken. Yorkys is definitely worth a try!

Self-​proclaimed best boasted chicken in town. They may be right, but I wouldn’t know; I ordered a hot dog. And, it was a pretty good hot dog. So far I’d say only second to Portillo’s for «in Elmhurst» options. The fries were the good crinkle-​cut kind. My son ordered the gyros. He gave them a solid 7 on a scale of 1 – 10. By the way, they also have some funky ketchup. Not sure what the deal is with that?! Anyway, this place has been here as long as I can remember, and that’s well over 20 years, so they must be doing something right.

Per reading the reviews, I decided to try the chicken plate. Simple. Chicken breast, potatoes, rice, salad, and garlic bread. As I waited for my food, they called my number and I go to pick up this CRAZY large plate. hah. It must have been maybe 15 inches long.
Overhearing another customer, he mentioned he drove from Midway-​airport to get this food. The chicken, fantastically seasoned and the rice were phenomenal. I loved the rice (I wanted more). They give you a ton of salad which is mostly iceburg lettuce with italian dressing. The potatoes are also well seasoned. I didn’t eat the whole thing and saved it for later. It still tasted great!
Staff were SUPER friendly. I loved this place and am glad I tried it out!
