Two months ago I had my first appointment with the optometrist. The waiting room was packed and I had to wait past my appointment and then I had to wait even longer to get seen to select eyeglasses. I spent over 3 hours waiting for assistance. There was a very small selection of glasses for my budget and while fitting my glasses I was given a hard sell for upgrading to more expensive frames. When someone is told that a budget is being followed and they immediately quote a price four times that budget, there is a communication issue. I have a strong prescription and I need the lighter lenses, my insurance needs to approve this first so we did have to send off for approval before an order could be placed. I got my copy of the approval letter in the mail four days after my original appointment. At that point I heard nothing else from them. I called multiple times in the next two months to check on the status of my eyeglasses. Every time I called in they said the glasses weren’t in yet and I should be patient. I also stopped in to the office to check once, and again they said the glasses weren’t in and I should still be patient. At that point it had been over a month between the original appointment and the time I came back in person. Two months have now gone past, I once again called the office and this time I was told they had never received a phone call from my insurance company approving the lenses. So they never sent in the order for the glasses. I know my insurance company sent them a letter with the approval because I have a copy of that letter. The folks running the office really seem like they don’t know what they’re doing and there is almost no communication between anyone. After waiting two months, where I’ve had NO contact with anyone in the office, I have to say I went away feeling like the office workers feel like the whole incident was my fault. I will not be going to this optometrist again.
