I’ve shopped here several times and have found the staff helpful and knowledgeable. They have a decent line of products and a great return policy. I’ve let my hair grow out(am now completely white!) and purchased a couple of their name brand products recently, which thus far, have been very happy with, and at a great price.

The staff is helpful and the place is always organized and well stocked. Great place to go for if you’re looking for manic panic.

This place is my saving grace in Elmhurst where I have nowhere else to turn to for beauty supplies. The employees here are generally helpful and nice. :)

The worst managerial staff that I have ever encountered. The store Mgr. is unprofessional, nasty & ignorant. I do not know how any employer would want her to be an employee let alone a manager. I do know her name but won’t mention it, with hopes that she reads this & gets a radical attitude adjustment. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of 1 of the employees she is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help you. She is the one with tattoos and she’s wonderful. She should be the manager. With stores closing everywhere Sally’s can’t afford to keep employee’s that scare customers away.

I visited Sally Beauty for the first time today, and I have to say they shine! The sales associate was friendly and helpful, and she led me to the product I’d called ahead for.(I’d spoken to the manager by phone the day before, and she was also helpful and positive.) The store resides in a Stop and Shop center and is a short bus ride or walk from the R train(Grand and Newton stop). Take the Ridgewood terminal-bound Q58 to 74th and Grand. The store was very clean and everything was arranged neatly on shelves. The product I asked for — neutral protein filler for hair — was exactly what I needed. What a different experience from the one I had a Ray’s Beauty in Manhattan, a dirty, disorganized, place on 8th Ave. with«color expert» Mike whose customer service skills rival a tarantula’s. Oh, he even said the protein filler was discontinued — NOT! — and didn’t offer a substitute. Makes you wonder how they stay in business. For people who think Manhattan is «all that,» I suggest you check out Sally Beauty in Queens. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Since I visited last year, it seems this Sally’s location is greatly improved. The terrible sales clerk is no where to be found and the staff currently there is much friendlier and willing to help. The supplies for what I want aren’t always in stock, but this is a small store so it’s best to call in advance to see if they have what you want first.

A cheaper, more suburban, and professional version of Sephora You won’t find a Sally’s in Manhattan, but there are two in Brooklyn and one in Queens. It caters to a more suburban and less affluent demographic than Sephora. They also have a full line of salon supplies and are a favorite for people within the industry. I love that they’ve added an «As Seen on TV» section, where one can find all kinds of cool hair and beauty accessories, such as the wildly popular«Bumpits» hairstyling tool. Besides the usual array of make-up and hair care products, they have dozens of varieties of massage oil and creams, travel containers, nail tool implements and an extensive selection of African-American themed hair products. I love their selection of magnifying mirrors(they have dozens of them), necessary for extracting blackheads via European facials). My favorite is the Zadro Z’ Fogless Lighted Shower Mirror. Using the mirror in the shower, the steam from the hot shower can open up your pores and keep them open, while you used a close-comedone(blackhead) extractor(also available for sale at Sally’s) to squeeze and push out the dirt and oil that clogs your pores. I also adore their Ardell Brow Perfection Stencils, for eyebrow waxing or plucking, where perfection and symmetry matters. You won’t find stuff like this at the drugstore! They have both a Sally’s Club Rewards card that saves you about 15% off, and a Sallys’ Pro card for beauty or salon professionals. They even have an educational rewards card for students enrolled in cosmetology programs.

i hate this location. they should make more in nyc. i mean, why wouldn’t they? the times that i’ve gone, the workers were polite and helpful. i will never ever leave this place without getting nail polish. i don’t know if regular beauty supply stores sell this but if you need a good top coat, get seche vite. it’s kinda pricey but soo worth it.

not super impressed. the store itself is organized and neat. however, i came to sally’s for the sole purpose of buying some new china glaze nail polishes. they had a lot more hair and waxing products. their nail polishes section was pretty small. they didn’t have a lot of the lighter crème colors that i wanted, but rather had some dark, glittery shades. same thing goes for the orly collection they had. it was also 5.99 a bottle, a little steep in my opinion– it is either the same price or even cheaper online. i came thinking that i can personally pick up a few nice colors for a good price, but i only left with two bottles of colors that i settled for(i did come all this way!). in the end, i didn’t think the products were worth the hassle. in addition, the two ladies that work at the counter were super super slow and they didn’t have the best attitude. looks like i’ll continue to buy my nail products online.

This is my go-to place to buy nail polishes. Sally Beauty Supply’s aren’t necessarilyy scattered all around New York City so it’s cool to have access to one. I like going here for China Glaze and Orly nail polishes as well as base and top coats. They also have lots of hair dye and waxing products and stuff for your salon. They have a sweet discount card deal where you pay $ 5 for the year. You also receive discounts on future purchases too. I found this to be pretty worthwhile if you frequently shop there.
