I will first say that the tailor did an average job of altering my new linen blazer, and if that is all you expect and/or need, then you will be satisfied with the results. However, I will guarantee that I will never return to this place. My first impression from outside the shop was fairly neutral; everything seemed typical of a local tailor. However, as I stepped into the shop I was literally hit by a cloud of smoke and a stench that reminded me of old dive bars. The gentleman behind the counter, an older man who has probably spent his entire life altering suits and shortening hems, was slightly gruff and didn’t seem to understand how I wanted my blazer to fit. On top of that he(and the shop, as I mentioned) reeked of smoke; disgusting. I needed the blazer by the end of the week and I unfortunately had no other choice but to go forward with the fitting and service… he marked my sleeves, pinned the center line, and told me it’d be done by Friday morning; which was fine because my flight wasn’t until Saturday morning. I called Friday morning to see if the alterations had been finished and he said it was hanging in the shop ready to go. I picked up the piece that afternoon, tried it on and was marginally satisfied with the fit. It wasn’t the best fit and the sleeves were still too long. Nevertheless, I didn’t have the time for any additional fixes… I got the jacket back to my office and hung it up. 5 minutes later I realized my entire office reeked of smoke. The entire jacket smelled like I had been out to clubs and bars all night… I set it outside to breathe and 2 hours later it was still terrible. I ended up taking it to my dry cleaner by my house downtown and she said she couldnt promise to have it back to normal by the next morning(before my flight) but would try her best. Luckily she is phenomenal and got –most– of the smell out. However it took another cleaning and a few weeks of breathing before the entire smell was gone. Again, the tailoring job was average(at best), but the fact that my blazer reeked of stale smoke for weeks after sitting for only four days in this shop was enough for me to –never– go back and to –never– recommend this place to anyone.
