Their pancake is delicious! Tofu soup, not so much. The service is good and the atmosphere so authentic Korean. Would definitely come back.

My favorite late night spot. I call, wait ten minutes, they have my food ready for pick up. Kimchi jiage here is my go-to dish. A blessing.

4 am in Queens. Unilocaled a 24 hour place and this popped up. honestly wasn’t sure how the food was going to be but it was amazing!!., that’s all I can say. the food was great. stayed hot in their little stone pots. it was still smoking by the time we were done eating. I definitely recommend this place.

After a long day, my friends and I decided to come here to grab a quick bite before going home at 1am. Fortunately, this place was open but I never expect places that open 24⁄7 to be superb in quality or taste. A group of 8 of us walked in, and found a seat for ourselves. After 20 minutes, the waitresses came to bring us a menu. please not that at this point, we still have not even gotten a cup of water! The most ridiculous part is that I specifically, loudly enough for them to hear, commented on how we still didn’t have water and they chose to not bring it. After another 10 – 15 minutes or so, the waitress comes back to ask if we are ready to order which we are. We all make our orders and then she finally pours some water for us. The banchan here is ridiculous, as in they give you soo many! I’m a huge fan of the seaweed that they bring out. I ordered the DonKatsu which was HUGE and also relatively pricey, $ 15.00 but definitely enough to share between two people. The slices were huge and although they weren’t delicious, they were still pretty satisfying. The waitress remembered to refill our glasses after a while. On the pro side, they never rushed us. though I thought they were kind of slow in service. They also have a $ 20 credit card minimum.

The food was honestly disgusting and over priced. I ordered beef dumpling soup and the dumplings had nothing inside but vegetables and two small pieces of beef was floating in there. My bf ordered chicken katsu and it didn’t taste anything like chicken, it was dry and HARD! It came out to $ 30 and we didn’t even eat it. I gave two stars only because the waitress was really nice!

We ordered two dishes, Quality was meh, okay. The side dishes were limited, and we saw that other tables received different ones than we did.

3.5 stars Decent Korean food on the Elmhurst/Jackson Heights border. There are about 2 other Korean establishments in the vicinity and honestly, I picked Hae Woon Dae because I came across it first on our evening stroll. It was pretty empty with only 1 – 2 other groups dining in. They’re pretty generous with the number of side dishes. I’m surprised it literally filled up most of the table just moments after we ordered. If I knew, we wouldn’t have ordered so much food! The staff grilled our chicken and thin pork slices at our table on a portable grill. It’s a little pricey ~$ 21 each(yet much cheaper than the beef). The chicken was on the dry side but tasted pretty good(and sweet) the next day after a trip in the microwave. We probably didn’t need to order the beef bibimbap. For ~$ 14, it was mostly rice, egg, and veggies and again, dry. Asides from the BBQ pork, my favorite part of the meal was the cold ginger digestive juice at the end.

I’d recommend this restaurant to any Korean food eater in Elmhurst and surrounding. They serve good food portion, great taste, decent side dishes and great service! I tried the other restaurant, next block, .aah.just standard. but this restaurant, Haewoondae, is really worth to go to and dine in when you’re in the neighborhood.

Honestly saying, I had a really high expectation for this place considering the Unilocal reviews. If you’re not korean you’ll definitely feel out of place but hey, it makes sense. We ordered the beef bibimbop and theres was only 1 tiny speck of beef in it, was really disappointed. Save your money and just get the regular one. Maybe it’s given in Korea but they didn’t tell us that we had to order two servings of meat in order to have it bbq. Prices are way too high for the portions we got! Lastly, we ordered the fish cake ddeokbokki/tteokbokki, it was really under cook so the rice cakes were hard. Portion was small but it might just be because it was served on a very large plate. Had a stomach ache after. I would probably not come back again unless I really had to.

Worst place ever got a order of bul ko ki and it’s supposedly $ 26 and is this small ass dish and we also got the beef bi bim bap and there’s literally like two baby pieces of beef and called it a bi bim bap wtf! Literally when we asked them if this was the beef bi bim bap they spooned out two pinches of beef and was like here completely outraged!

Ive ordered cold noodle w my gf for lunch on a saturday where it was empty. It was super good until… I found a piece of hair on the broth… We told the manager but all they did was apologize… Saw the manager tell the owner but she seemed indifferent about it n nothing was done… Would i go back there? Heck to the no!!! DISGUSTING!!!

I came in before the lunch special hour to avoid the crowd. The food was pretty delicious but I think the side dishes were not as well made as other resteraunts aound the block. However, the soondobu was great and the right amount of spiciness didn’t over power the other ingredients such as veggies and seafood in the soup.

It’s one of my favorite restaurant in this neighborhood. I prefer to give 5 stars if their bbq quantity matches prices. It is too expensive compare with restaurant in the city

I feel the spot is ok. It is pricey like everyone says but they do give you a lot of food. It tends to get crowded during lunch time but over all it’s not a bad spot.

I love this restaurant. It is much better than the other Korean restaurant a blog away. Haewoondae has appetizer size jap chae, which is so convenient if you don’t eat very much, and a very long list of delicious Korean soups. The servers here are always friendly to you too.

I’ve been coming here for years and for the most part it’s always great. There’s been an odd occasion when the quality may have been off, but that can happen to the best chefs. For a neighborhood spot it’s still my go to!

Quick Korean go to place and it being right next to the train makes it a definite! Soup is deliciously spicy but not over done as the waitress was kind enough to make it to taste. The price is right too! At $ 13.95 it is enough soup to feed two people! The Banchan are different from other places(I have been to only a few other places) but they are plentiful.

The 5 stars are for their Stews and Hot Pots. They are all delicious. I also have a soft spot for them because they introduced me to Kimchi Jigae. Very simple but soooo amazing. It’s now one of my favorite things to eat and after trying it at different Korean spots all over New York, no one can compare. When it comes to their BBQ meats I’d say go somewhere else

i always order the buddae jiggae and seafood pancake sometimes and basically fill myself up with the freebie sides in the beginning. The jiggae was pretty good, can’t say it was the best i ever had but it was good nevertheless. the sides in the beginning was missing the steamed eggs. i think only one korean place offers that over in k-town. oh they did have these potato side dish that were pretty addictive. the price was semi on the expensive side, especially for a queens joint. my jiggae was $ 13, i could get it for a couple dollars less at other places. i definitely prefer haewoondae over its neighbor 2 blocks over because that place has a loud ass bar next door and you could never have any peaceful eating at night without bass pumpin in your ear. but on to why haewoondae gets 5 stars. its the waitress here. ariel, i believe her name is. she has got to be the friendliest waitress i ever encountered. i know it gets lost sometimes, but a waitress should always be friendly and inviting. too many places, in particular asian joints are lacking that. they normally just do what they have to without a smile or friendly demeanor and be on their way. but not our ariel. i don’t think this girl knows how to frown. she was always smiling and in a good mood. very attentive, albeit in a semi-empty restaurant during my late night dinner. always quick with refilling our sides as we down them pretty hastily. she was pretty damn cute too. hell, i think i have a little crush on her. and the other waitress, i noticed, was pretty friendly too. god forbid, two friendly waitresses in one place. so go here and tip ariel extra. just don’t flirt with her please.

Every time my boyfriend and I come we get greeted as soon as we walk through the door. They seat us very quickly and are always so so so nice. The food is always amazing and I’m obsessed with Korean food so having this place close to my home is so great! It never disappoints with the quality and they hand you your check in your hand very respectfully. Its a wonderful place and I definitely recommend it!

it wasnt that bad but hey, it’s new york, there are plenty of great Korean restaurants where you can taste authentic food and will be served with attentiveness. Certainly, this place is not one of them. I have been here 2 times only because i was dying for k food sometimes and i live nearby. The food was mediocre and the service was just like the food quality. 2nd review: I gave it 3 stars at first and last month I went there and had bbq beef and pork. And I got diarrhea. I had a very terrible time due to the food I spent over 70 bucks. I will not go there any more.
