I too saw the review by Amber A. She must be reviewing a nursing home other than the one my mother was a resident of, for 3−½ years until her death in 2013. I visited my mother every day — while it doesn’t have the«bells and whistles» newer homes have, it has what is much more important. They care, and the staff does an overall excellent job. There’s no such thing as perfection, but to be one of 39 nursing homes in the U.S. to have garnered 5 stars — they must be doing something right. I have such respect for the CNAs and the care they give the residents. The dietician — the cooks — the nurses. Each day when I left my mother to go home, I knew I was leaving her in good and caring hands. I suspect Amber was«expecting» as she said a «horrible experience» thus never giving the nursing home staff a chance. And I too wonder why she went back the second time if the first was, as she expressed a «horrible experience». Clara H.

I saw a bad review from an amber. She states she has been to the facility twice now and both times had a bad experience. Why would you go back the second time if the first time it was bad. My mother in law has been there two years now, and this facility is caring, courteous, and clean. I also have never seen the staff smoke less then 15 ft from the door. Knowing the facilities layout, the smoking area is 15 ft away and not by any windows. The facility and staff take wonderful care of my mother in law and other patients. Clean never smells of urine, or any other foul smells, I have in the past been to some places that smell. Amber states hopefully she won’t have to go back, why would you go back a third if it is that bad. Maybe because she likes to cause problems; Also the picture of the two staff smoking above, I would think that should not be allowed to be posted without their permission Any way don’t take my word or hers go see the place for yourself.

Whatever you do, do not take your relatives to Elmhurst Extended Care on Lake St in Elmhurst, IL. We have been here once before and had a horrible experience, so much so that we took my grandmother out asap after hearing over the phone what my grandma had to say. We are here again unfortunately and to no surprise we are having a horrible experience again! The rooms can be a bit crowded, tvs are in the worst spot for viewing, there are no private phones for patient use and if you want one you must pay for it, it took us more than fifteen minutes for a nurse to come to help, there are no private bathrooms, the room was hot and to make matters worse their I noticed on two separate days that two of their employees(not at the same time) were smoking right outside their front doors within the 15ft. distance. That is against code. Those employees have shown me that they had no consideration in that moment for the patients and visitors that would like to live smoke free. Disgusting place to have in Elmhurst after our first experience and hopefully this will be our last. I would love to see this place demolished, rebuilt, and restaffed to the likes of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
