Very, very bad. Firstly, we waited forever for buffalo chicken strips that were raw inside. The replacement was also raw inside. Caesar salad was warmish and not crisp. Our comments were met with excuses and in the end I was treated poorly for complaining. No compensation offered for our experience. Avoid this place.

The reuben and burger were both good, and surprisingly so was the salad. Good malts too

I would have given this place a higher mark cause my burger was fantastic, but the waitresses are really THAT horrible here. Sorry.

It’s unfortunate their original cook left. Changed wait staff as well. The food and service is HORRIBLE now. Very cute place that could’ve done well. Over priced garbage. I hope they can fix some things.

I came here today with my family for Mothers day. I’ve worked in restaurants and know that this is the busiest day of the year, so let me start our by saying this was not the case. There was one other table and a couple of people sitting at the bar. When we took our order my dad started first, next my turn. she stopped me and said,“I should write this down because I won’t remember everything”, left and came back with a pad. Whatever not the biggest deal. I ordered a cheeseburger with only lettuce mayo. and obviously cheese, ordered a grilled cheese for the kids to split. Never saw our server again. Someone else brought out our food I receive a burger no cheese, no mayo. Kids got chicken strips?! Whatever they’ll eat it. My dad had to go up to the counter ask for drink refills. They didn’t at all ask if everything was okay, if we needed anything else etc. If it was a typical busy Mothers day, then cool whatever I understand. I’ve been there. BUT it was slow as shit. They definitely need to do some training because they do not know how to serve. I won’t be coming here again ever! Get your shit together.

I think that this place is amazon, this pkace is all from scratch from the cfs to the soups nothing comes out of a box like alot of resturants. Its funny how people complain about waits if u went to another place u have to wait to be seated then wait another 30 mins for ur food and there stuff comes out of a box pre made but people are patint on thows resturant but when they come here u have to wait for ur food not for a seat and if u are patint when ur food comes out u will b amazed on the food. The flipping fiftys give back to there community they just dont pocket every thing so if u want to b a part of good food and frindly people then this is the place to come. If u want fast food and pre mad stuff then go to a fast food resturant

The service was friendly, but my food was WAY overcooked which might explain why it took so long. Overpriced for the quality of the food.

I have tried this restaurant several times. The food is generally good, though the fries today we’re not up to par. Service, poor training, excessive wait times and disjointed service will keep me from going back in again. Customers that came in after we did received their drink orders before us, but waited over half an hour to get menus/order taken and they clearly new the owners. They need more, Trained Staff,(including the owners) and reorganization to optimize timely order prep and delivery. I can only assume the owners don’t bother to read these reviews as I haven’t seen any improvement in the last year.

The sign says, «burgers, fries, and shakes.» You would think that they would at least do those things well. Not so much. The meat patty was previously frozen and there was enough grease coming off of it that the paper in the basket was soaked. My bread fell apart long before I could finish the burger. The fries were meh, and the strawberry shake was made with syrup. For a small town 50’s style diner I was really disappointed.

The service was slow and the was bland. Edible but bland. The diner has potential but fell short of expectations. I don’t recommend!

Only giving one star because unfortunately you can’t give negative stars. I’ve tried this place a handful of times since its opened each time coming back with hopes it would improve. I understand this is a newer establishment but come on. You’ve been open for 2 years now. Each and every time I go in the waitresses don’t know what they’re doing and are either rude or stuck up. The food is disgusting. I will no longer be coming back as my last visit was my breaking point. 45 minutes for a grilled cheese and chicken fried steak with only one other table? Seriously? I’m surprised you’re still open. If you want decent food and not long waits and an actual staff that knows what they’re doing and make you feel welcome, go across town to the rusty tractor.

I’m not sure why the reviews are so terrible for this restaurant. I have been a few times and the food has been on par with other diner type American restaurants. The only reason I give it a 4 is because each time I’ve gone I have had a problem with checking out. The staff doesn’t seem to know how to run the register, but that seems to be an easily fixable problem with training.

Had a GREAT breakfast here! Both the hubby and I had excellent meals, I had an omelet and he had a chicken fried steak skillet. The coffee was really good. To top it off our waitress Katie(sorry about the spelling if it’s wrong). She was extremely pleasant and always there to fill up the coffee. I highly recommend going there we will be going back!

I am starting this review with the only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of one: this place has great onion rings. Hand battered, big, some clumped together, but great onion rings. Now, onto the experience. I went there with a coworker, we are on the road. It’s a Tuesday night, so the place was no where near full. We were seated promptly and given menus. The first young lady took our drink order but didn’t have a clue what kind of beer they had. So, I walked over to the bar to have a look. I chose a Hefe weizen and the girl didn’t know you had to roll a weizen before you open it otherwise the yeast clumps up in the bottom. I showed her the bottle and the yeast at the bottom and how to properly serve that kind of beer and she appreciated it. She just started 2 weeks ago. I took our drinks back to the table(my co-worker had a Coke) but her soda was flat. We discussed the menu and waited for someone to take our food order. And waited. And waited. Another young lady asked if anyone had taken our order and we said no, but before we could ask for a new coke, she was gone. She came back to take our order and we asked for a new drink. She knew the soda from the bar was flat, but why serve from that fountain if it’s a known problem? My co-worker ordered an open faced roast beef sandwich dinner and onion rings app for the table. I went with the chicken fried chicken: a boneless breast of hand breaded fried chicken, sauteed veggies and mashed potatoes and gravy. Both came with salads. So we waited and waited and waited. No onion rings or salads. Finally, we see our entrees in the window and the waitress brings the salads and we ask her about the onion rings. You could tell by the look on her face she forgot. She said they’d be right up and ran away before we could cancel them. She comes back and says that the cook made chicken fried steak, not chicken fried chicken but my co-workers food was ready. I told her to bring it, since it would just die in the window otherwise. Well, she brings the entrée and the onion rings at the same time, just minutes after the salads, My co-worker said the roast beef was OK, but the secret ingredient was Worcestershire sauce… a lot of it. She was kind enough to let me munch on some of the onion rings. Again, hand dipped, thick cut and home made. If I ever went back there(which I won’t) I would get them again. My co-worker was pretty much finished when the waitress comes back and said the cook made another mistake, he made a 3 piece chicken dinner instead of a boneless breast. I was aghast at the tiny pieces of chicken: a drum-met, a thigh that was smaller than a zippo lighter and a part of a chicken breast. The veggies were grilled zucchini and squash with mashed potatoes with brown gravy, The poor waitress was just miserable as I stared at the plate. I said it wasn’t her fault but where is the manager during all this? She said she WAS the manager. Now, I’m not going to bawl out a 20 year old girl, but she is WAY over her head. So, I said I’d just eat the chicken. At this point, we’d been there over an hour. My co-worker was done, I couldn’t make her wait more. The chicken wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad either. The mashed potatoes were pure crap. Same with the gravy, I suggest using salt and butter next time. The grilled veggies were without flavor. I ate a bit of the chicken but fast food chicken is better. As I tried another bite of potatoes, I found a piece of plastic in it!!! I pulled it out of my mouth and put it on my plate. I was done. At that point the manager put the chicken fried chicken dinner on the table and it was smothered in mushrooms. I am allergic to mushrooms and no where in the menu did it mention that was an ingredient. The manager finally said she would comp all the food and said she was sorry. I believe she was. I didn’t get a chance to show her the plastic but at that point, I think she would have cried. We gave her back the last plate of food(we were over it all by then) and paid for my beers(yes, I had 2… wouldn’t you?) and my co-worker tipped the manager a $ 5. She is a softie, Had she been a waitress, I would have given her about 10%(because she wasn’t that good of a waitress) but as a manager, she was a dud. So, here I sit in my hotel room, still hungry, with a bag of chips. My chips were served promptly by the vending machine. My order was correct. I hope whoever owns this place pays more attention to the service and the kitchen. Tell the staff to quit smoking all the legal weed before a shift, I will not be back.

Stopped off here on the way back to Seattle after camping — my hubby and I had something a little more quick and casual in mind(aka Burger King) but the in laws saw the«50’s» theme and were sold so we decided to check it out. Walking in my first observation was that it was very empty for lunch hour. I chalked it up to the fact that it’s in a small town and everyone might have still been at work. We were quickly greeted by a very friendly hostess who gave us a good seat by the stage.(Yes they have a full size stage and speaker system for parties, gatherings and karaōke! Dang I wish I would’ve come on a karaōke night) The menu was the usual American Diner Fare and the one thing that sounded really good(Breaded Steak Fries) seemed to be crossed off of my menu, but not the other three. Thankfully the waitress cleared up the confusion and I got the steak fries I wanted! My in laws started with salads, both of which were a good size and had plenty of accompaniments. Nice touch, especially since diner salads tend to be small and not so green Amongst us four we ordered: chicken fried steak, some kind of burger, a chicken sandwich and my breaded steak fries. To our surprise and delight, all of the food was delicious! Hot, fresh and well seasoned … We were left with no extra space for dessert. The prices were also reasonable, which made things even better. The best part wasn’t even the meal! After we walked out, one of the waitresses(I forget her name, so sorry!) ran out because my husband left his wallet behind. Service there was great, but that just took it over the top! If we ever find ourselves in Elma for Lord only knows what reason, we will definitely head back over to the flippin 50’s for some good tunes and good eats.

We go here around once every other month. The food is good and portions are huge for a reasonable price. The service isn’t too good when it’s full, so reserve your trip for a languid day.

Food is very bland and service is atrocious. The management is very inexperienced, oblivious as to what community is and the atmosphere is well, nearly as bad as everything previously mentioned. It is clean and newly remodeled, as of 2014. The entire town with exception to few refuses to patronize the establishment mostly because of the service and quality of food. The alternative is somewhat better, and that’s good enough for most people living nearby. I’m certain they will close within a year, maybe two at most. Which is too bad because it is a nice location and building.

The Amazingly friendly wait staff seated us and we felt completely welcomed. The menu was full of traditional food that you would expect from a diner… but the food was amazing better then those ordinary diners. I ordered the french dip… and I received something even better then I had expected! It was a real… slow cooked, full of flavor and amazingly moist chunks/pulled roasted beef. A little bit of sauteed red onions and cheese toped this amazingly delicious sandwich. I would have preferred a little bit more sauteed onions, because I’m in love with onions! The dipping ah juswas the perfect finishing touch to complete this meal. Thank you so much for the amazing food. We will eat here again the next time we drive through.

Don’t waste your time or money here! I guess this place doesn’t have to have high standards because its in a one horse town with no competition, but yikes. The wait time was SOOO long! The food was meh… typical diner fare. The environment was very sterile and drafty and echoed a lot like a cafeteria. The waitresses were too busy chatting with the«regulars» at the counter to give any service. They also were very disorganized and didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing. They were also out of chocolate syrup so we couldn’t even order a malt shake. We ordered our food and waited almost and entire HOUR before we got our food. By that time our two small children were cranky and fussing. To top if off, they got my husbands order wrong and informed us that we would have to wait awhile because there are other customers in front of us(the place was not crowded). The cooks literally appeared to be cooking one meal at a time. Our party was completely done eating before my husband got his food 45 mins later. We were never checked on and drinks were not refilled, but we noticed that the couple tables with MALE regulars was paid a lot of attention to(obviously for tips)… They came in and ate and were long gone before we even got our food. One of the workers came on her off time and kept walking into the back where the cooks were while holding her baby and touching things, laughing and joking and distracting the waitresses who didn’t seem to care to serve anyone. We could not wait to get out of there. Definitely won’t be back, even if it is the only restaurant in Elma! By the way, this review is from a couple months ago, so if they have improved service since then great… But enter at your own risk! :)

Yummy, yummy, yummy. Very clean and tidy looking inside. The waitress was quick and sweet. Food was delicious. I would say good/average prices for the area with good portion sizes. Reading through some of the previous reviews, quite a few have said the service was really slow. Ours was exactly the opposite. Maybe they’ve gotten better since the previous reviews? They were some time ago now…
