After two visits to Wood Smoke, I must say that they have improved over time. The first visit was good, don’t get me wrong, but was nearly a year ago now. However, I recently returned for lunch with my business partner and we were both blown away by the food. Service was friendly and restaurant was clean and welcoming, but the food was the star. Well done guys, can’t wait to come back.

A group of us(8 people) came here for breakfast and there was plenty of seating available. We placed several orders for the chicken & waffle, Belgian waffle, Belgian waffle with strawberries, and the Ellisville(Belgian waffle with bananas, strawberries, pecans, coconut, and a Manjar Blanco sauce). It took a while for everyone’s food to come out but it’s understandable since they probably don’t have 8 waffle irons back there to crank out orders. The food was fine but nothing mind-blowing. I was a little disappointed by the chicken & waffle because the chicken wasn’t crispy and a little too salty. I don’t think I would go out of my way for the waffles, but I’d like to come back to try the pies and BBQ.

We had pies brought to us at work today, a Key Lime, Chocolate & Apple. Everyone loved the chocolate that tried it but I really enjoyed the key lime. It was delicious! The crust was as good as the filling. I’m not familiar with Woodsmoke BBQ& Windowsills Pies, but I’d certainly recommend their pies after today!

A friend just brought me the pulled pork with tangy sauce. The meat was tender and had the perfect amount of crisp on the edges. I could drink the sauce– exactly what I love. Great flavor in both. Looking forward to visiting the restaurant next time to get the full experience and dessert!

I have eaten here several times and the food and service has been consistently good. I am not a big Unilocaler and I probably wouldn’t be writing this review if it hadn’t been for the review Mike A wrote about this business below. Actually, it’s not a review at all. It’s an attack on a small independent not to mention innocent, business owner. Shame on you mike. After reading your awful words, I decided to have a look at your Unilocal profile. Well, it’s safe to assume that you are a difficult person to please. All of your reviews are negative. I also noticed something else about you mike. It looks like you either own or work at sugarfire from your pictures in your profile. GUESSWHATMIKE… Every time I have been to sugar fire they have been out of at least 1 of their meats. If you ask them to make more. They will tell you to come back tomorrow. So mike, you are a liar. Not Bernadette. Find something better to do with your time mike. And your jokes suck. Loser. Keep it up Bernadette!

Leave the Bbq alone and go for the pie! Meat was very dry and not a big fan of the sauces offered. Sides were good but nothing different for other bbq restaurants. Would only go back for the delicious pie!

New to the area and stumbled across this place so we decided to give it a try. Good location with outside seating next to grocery store. Inside was clean and inviting. Server was very nice and took our order. Ordered the hog heaven with side of slaw. Also wife ordered the Carolina pork with slaw and Mac and cheeses. The hog heaven had lord and sausage. The pork was okay lacked flavor of the smokey taste. The sausage on the other hand was very good. T suggest putting a bbq sauce on it which they had a good selection to choose. Wife also made the same conclusion her pork was lacking flavor. The slaw needs help. Very bland and needed salt. Great tasting lemon meringue pie and ice cream. I will give it another visit. Hope this review was helpful.

Very cute and super clean with plenty of seating. Food is good and portions are large. The Rhubarb Applesauce was a unique surprise, but the real stars are the pies — both fruit and cream pies — I’ll be back again, maybe just for pie!

Well I discovered this place while on my way to the Dollar Tree. I was hungry so I thought I would order take out. I ordered a brisket sandwich, macaroni, slice of smore pie and a Chocolate chip cookie. I didn’t even get a drink and my total was $ 19 The cookie and the pie were delicious. The brisket was just okay. The macaroni was just okay.

I have been driving by here for awhile and decided to stop to check it out. I got ribs and brisket with potato salad and BBQ beans. I decided to go with a slice of custard pie. I was a little worried on the drive home and I couldn’t smell the food and you’d think with BBQ you’d smell the smoke. I tend to like thinks that aren’t overly smokey and this place fits that bill. However, nothing was particularly flavorful. The ribs were nice and meaty — but just okay. May be more rub would help? The brisket was okay. Not too dry and a thin line of fat cap — but again, not particularly flavorful The potato salad was really awesome. LOVEDIT! Reminded me of grandma’s. The beans — I didn’t care for them at all. They had a nice consistency and big chunks of meat, but I didn’t care for the flavor. Now the pie. They have a pretty decent selection of pie. It’s pre-sliced and there is an array of crust, crumble and cream pie. I selected a slice of custard pie. I took one bite and threw it away. The crust is soggy, so may be it’s been sitting there a couple of days? It just wasn’t tasty. I was super disappointed. The place is really cute and has good décor. Very clean. I am not sure if I would go back??? I can get better pie and BBQ elsewhere.

Tried to get information on a catering order today… left on hold for 24mins and counting!!! I waited until the lunch rush was over to call, @ 220pm, all I want is a catering menu if you have 1… guess they have so much business they can afford to leave a potential catering order for 25+ ppl on hold.

we liked this place a lot. the brisket and pulled pork sandwich were great. loved the macaroni and bbq beans. great décor, well designed. I’m not sure the bad reviews are real, but who cares. we loved this place. to compare this place to bandanas is ludicrous. it’s far better. pappys might be better, but good luck driving 15 miles downtown, then standing in line for 2 hours with zero parking. for that matter, why not compare this place to rendezvous in memphis tn??? Unilocal users can be ridiculous. this is great bbq in ellisville… not memphis, tn or downtown st louis. we were quite impressed with this place and we’ll return.

LOVE this place! every time we go in, their food is fabulous, and their service is suburb. They only have one register, and i work in the service industry, so i understand being on the phone and trying to deal with in person customers, and they are always very helpful when i want to try something new. in response to the person commenting on «not having any food left» then demanding they make more… i wanna know where he keeps his pigs at home to slaughter when he runs out of bacon… or what happens when he goes to olive garden and they run out of a certain meat and don’t get their order in until the next week… i understand that restaurants get their food order in once a week and can sometimes have to order twice in one week, but it always takes a day to get their order in, and if its the weekend theres no way they are getting that order until the next business day…(Obviously someone is very entitled because his wife obviously goes shopping every day to feed him so he’s never gone without food… ok ok. im just being mean now) I have never had a bad experience here. Sometimes i try something new and its not to my liking, but thats my own personal preference. They catered my baby shower btw in May(even though my father ordered it for a «graduation party»), they were prompt when we picked up the food, the price was very reasonable(about 1⁄3 of what hendricks bbq in st charles wanted to charge us) and EVERYONE at my party loved the food and kept bothering me for leftovers(even though there were none!!). So thank you guys!

Now they are calling it WoodSmoke BBQ… Uh, Established 2012??? Nice try, but the problem isn’t just your name anymore. Vacuum sealing your meats and reheating them at your convenience offers customers nothing more than the tubs of BBQ in the deli case at Dierbergs. We came by for our now declared last visit. It was the Monday after the Wildwood bash. The door was locked, no sign on the door or anything. Another couple with a child in a car seat also came up to the door. The person inside came out and said«sorry, we sold out of BBQ this weekend at the Bash»??? I guess they used up all their refrigerated vacuum packed meats? Is it such an inconvenience to cook more??? Think about it Windowsills(Now WOODSMOKEBBQ), if you actually sold so much of your meats you had none left… why wouldn’t you make some more??? I have said from the beginning that the name was a liability, all the owners church buds or friends got on and tried to smear anyone telling them(CORRECTLY) the name makes the place become invisible to those wanting BBQ. Look at all the«not recommended» reviews if you don’t believe me. The silly part is… the food and service is just so below par now… I think this attempt is a little to late. UPDATE! This reply from the struggling and mentally challenged owner just made me laugh SO hard! 11÷1÷14 From Bernadette @ Windowsills…“You must have some real life issues to constantly feel the need to slam a small independent business. You are clearly unaware of your own surroundings with all of your false claims. If you knew anything at all about bbq, or the food industry, you would know that there are other bbq places that also run out of food and close their doors. BBQ has to smoke low and slow. It takes many hours to prepare it properly. The weekend of the BBQ Bash we ran out of food. We did not get a food delivery from our food vendor again until Monday morning. That day was spent smoking meat to be able to open again for business on Tuesday. The fact that you have no common sense on the food and bbq industry, makes your claim false and people read it and think you are an idiot. Please do not attempt another time at my restaurant. YOU are uninvited. You are an ass every time you enter and go back to your little computer and write a review. Don’t judge our name change. Again, your ignorance gets the best of you here making you look like the idiot you are. Little do you know that ALL our customers would comment to us about changing the name to allow people to know what we are… bbq. We purposely left Windowsills in our re-branding for one reason only. But you wouldn’t get the reason so there’s no sense in detailing it out for you. We have been SLAMMED since our re-branding which proves that what we chose to do was good for our business. You are an arrogant ass who clearly knows nothing. I’m sure you think you’re perfect though. Good luck in life with your amazing attitude towards the world.“ The funniest of all, EVERY point she makes is a BOLD faced lie! #1… NOOOOO, other«real» BBQ restaurants run out of SOME meats. You never even opened your doors! Obviously you had ZERO intentions of serving a single piece of fresh BBQ. You were relying on the meats left over to serve. You really need to understand the BBQ business rather than making it up as you go. #2… I was the 2nd review 2yrs ago of your faux BBQ«café». I said that the name was very misleading… yet look at the«currently not recommended» Unilocal reviews. Attacks from their fellow west county social butterflies attacking me and another Unilocal reviewer for suggesting their name was a poor choice. If «ALL» your customers(A Lie!) were telling you this, and it took two years to realize how wrong and amateur your brand name was, there is little hope for your ability to salvage your trainwreck. #3… To «Univite» my ass after I just wrote in the review I was done with your pathetic and sorry attempt at running a restaurant is the funniest of all. It is like a sitcom where someone gets up and quits because of an ignorant, unintelligent boss has finally crossed the line, yet the fool boss says«you can’t quit» you are fired. I mean really Bernie, are you that pathetic? #4…Been«Slammed» since your re-branding? Are you serious? I drive by your place several times a week. Dewey’s packed with a line, every where around busy, You??? EMPTY!!! Even though I obviously don’t like fake, pretentious, untalented people like you… I have to feel a little sorry because you have spent hundreds of thousands and you STILL rarely manage to get more than a handful of customers(usually you have ZERO). You know it’s a lie to say you are slammed… but the more I think about it, maybe you think 5 people is slammed based on you prior TWOYEARS of crickets chirping? Hemorrhaging cash is a tough pill to swallow, I get it. But it’s not as hard as swallowing the brisket I have gotten from you a few times at your Café.

My husband and I visited on a Wednesday afternoon at about 3:30. The décor is clean and simple with adequate space and tables. It took awhile for us to be greeted, about 5 minutes. The front counter person was on the phone in a lengthy conversation describing the sides to another customer. It would have been nice to be acknowledged with a hand gesture like, «I’ll be with you in a minute,» or something. I tend to look for acknowledgement from business to customer when entering the door. I believe she did apologize, but I was past it to get on with my order. We ordered a 3 meat platter to split. It came with only one side. They were giving a free slice of pie, however. The wait time on our food was less than 10 minutes. The meats were served directly onto butcher’s paper with the side in a paper boat, about 3 oz. each. No garnish. You have a choice of two sauces from the counter: Spicy and Sweet The pork and brisket were moist and mildly smoked. The turkey was very moist, but lacked a smoked flavor I would expect. It came with a special white sauce. The sauce was flavorful, with just a hint too much vinegar that overpowered the herbs. The other BBQ sauces were okay. The baked beans were«meh.» The pumpkin pie was baked there. The texture was nice and smooth. Flavor was equal spice to pumpkin flavor; a nice taste and texture. With all due respect to the owner: I like to see new places like this succeed, but be prepared to knock my socks off. With other local BBQ joints like, SugarFire, Barney’s, Pappy’s and Salt + Smoke, this place can only receive a rating of 2 stars from me. I hate to give such a low rating to a local, but until I see better service, better value,(even a pickle would have been nice) and flavor that makes my eyes roll back in my head, I’m forced to compare and stand by my rating. Secondly, I would like to address the response to a customer’s rating, whether he was an «ass”(your words) or not. A public relations representative can make or destroy your business. It seems that it would benefit that someone else be the spokesperson for the business, as your comeback was not the type of professional response I would expect from a small business owner. It might be a good idea to re-evaluate why you became a small business owner. Are you in business to meet customers’ expectations and stay in the competition in the St. Louis market? If so, let’s see that entrepreneurial spirit take charge! I am rooting for you guys!
