What a really cool experience. This property was first owned and developed by the daughters of Frederick Olmstead, designer of Central Park in NYC. Lots of really interesting stories and artifacts. It is amazing that all of the children of this really famous landscape architect decided to settle in Ellensburg, WA of all places. More information on the father at This is an actual settlement from turn of the 20th century. You get a real flavor for what the residents of the area must have weathered in those years. The house is authentic including original furnishings, clothing, etc. The park staff and volunteer were great in giving us a tour and interesting information to go along with the tour. It is worth getting out and stretching your legs with a brief walking tour. Thanks!
