I went into mangos and had Sarah do my hair(she’s incredibly sweet & really a nice person and I traveled from Seattle) but she didn’t do even close to what I had asked for on my hair. Long story short, I asked for a brunette balyage and got brassy highlights from root to tip all over and it looks terrible… And it’s so sad to say because I never give bad reviews, so I say this all with honesty. I’ve gone to mangos before(I think I had Miranda, and she was amazing which is why I went back to mangos with confidence) I had arrived and showed Sarah the photos(non of which had brass roots at the top of the hair) and as I sat in her chair I told her how much I don’t like highlights, balyage is the way to go for a natural sun kissed look! I was really excited for a brunette balyage, She agreed with me and we had great conversation! At first I told her I would like to go a tad darker(more of an espresso color for the base of the balyage, my hair isn’t quite the rich brown I wanted so I asked if we could change that) her reply was kindly, «no This is a good base to work with.» She then told me what she was going to do to it, and she said everything she was supposed to do and then… So time went on and the technique she used seemed like a highlighting technique but she told me it was something she learned for balyages from some renowned stylist(she’s the professional so I trusted it), so when she had finished I was confused. It seemed like an all over color, like I had showed her a photo of Lauren conrads hair gone bad but I didn’t show her anything remotely close. I am not a blonde and I don’t like blonde and she basically died my hair blonde with all over highlights. The end product of my hair was like she tuned me out when I said what I wanted and disregarded the photo I showed her and just did what she thought would look good… So I had called and asked for an appointment to fix my hair, I couldn’t make it so I called three days before and told her I couldn’t and requested a new one. She(Stephanie the receptionist) left me a voicemail and had scheduled without my confirmation a date for me to come and I hadn’t seen it until after that date!(Which is my fault because I could’ve checked my phone but I’m in finals and I work 45 hours a week, and I’m planning my wedding) so I called and asked explained that I didn’t see but I never confirmed so I had hoped they didn’t expect me if they never heard from me. Well they then told me they could fix it still and we scheduled a new appt. in that same phone call she put me on hold and came back and said they couldn’t fix my brassy half blonde hair for free so Stephanie offered me a discounted rate to have it fixed, I was going to go for that but I had asked«is it possible that I could have it done like the original way I had asked for? I’m just a little nervous for it to be done wrong a second time, ya know?» And she replied with«since it’s not in the window I we can’t guarantee she’ll do what you had wanted to your hair.» Which I simply replied with no thank you, if I can’t have my hair guaranteed correct the second time I’m not going to pay to mess it up more and with my engagement photos coming up that’s just not an okay thing, I can find a stylist in Seattle, it’s not a big deal.” And hung up. Everyone asks me if I did an overall color dye, or where I got my highlights… Not what I was going for. And these are friends that don’t know hair. Two of my friends that are stylists said this was done terribly. I’m sorry but that is not good business: Mess up 1: Sofia didn’t listen to what I had asked for and ruined my hair, not doing it correctly Mess up 2: Scheduling and appointment without my confirmation whatsoever and then saying«she could have made money during that time when you didn’t come in» well you should have gotten my confirmation, I never said I could do that date with that time. Mess up 3: Not guaranteeing that it could be done correctly the second time. I feel bad for Sofia, I went back in full confidence because she did a great job last year on my hair. Well they set me up with Sofia, sofia ruined my hair, and lost a customer. I hope Sofia doesn’t lose more customers because of other stylists mistakes & bad listening skills.

Sophia and Miranda are my girls. Moved here from a metropolitan, upscale culture and worried a bit about finding a stylist and esthetician. I found Mangos! They carry excellent hair care and skin care products. Sophia does not do the«small town one cut fits all people». Miranda is excellent with waxing, brow tinting and facials. The décor is very contemporary and chic. The employees make clients feel very comfortable. IT’s a win-win.

I moved to Ellensburg over a year ago and have struggled to find a stylist since. I came from a contemporary downtown salon in Seattle. I found Mangos on Unilocal. They scheduled me the next day with Sarah one of their senior stylists. She was professional and easy to talk to. I loved the way she cut & styled my hair(which was in bad shape!). I made an appointment to come back for color. This is a true gem in central WA!

Sophie have me a great hair cut and had a great time just talking with her. The staff are friendly, they show local artwork, and the salon is comfortable and clean. Good place to go in Ellensburg.

I have had a couple of massages from Erin, a facial with Merenda, pedicures and haircuts with Stephanie. All of the services are really good, they even serve beer, I was told I could come back and get complementary paraffin dips(my hands get really dry) and neck trims, both of which I take advantage of. The salon is filled with a friendly staff and the atmosphere is great even for guys. For as much as I come around they never seem to tire of me for coming in just for the complementary services! I always look forward to my weekly visit to Mangos salon!

Really happy with the haircut I received here. The employees were really nice and cared about my experience. I was new to the salon and I’m always nervous when I get a new hairdresser because of my curly hair. I was so pleased with my haircut and the style I received. The products they used were so healthy for my hair and on a plus my hair smelled great. You have two week period to go back if you and unpleased with your cut. Don’t need to go back but I’m happy to know my hair is looked after like that. Will be back for my next cut!

I’m thrilled with my balayage, it’s not what I had imagined at all but it has its own flair and modesty that I love! As for Mangos Salon — the entrance and stairs leading up to the establishment were definitely sketchy, i might have considered turning around but boy am I glad I didn’t! Julie was very patient and objective about what I was looking to get and wise in terms of how much upkeep I was willing to do. My profession doesn’t allow for super unnatural colors and I’m not looking to get the wrong attention so she captured the opposite of all that spot on. The cut was self explanatory but I have to say she really stood to her word when she said she wouldn’t cut off much! She said my hair wasn’t damaged so it was really up to me how much I wanted cut off and as we all know, the inch always turns into three, but my hair is still plenty long so I’m happy about that. I was provided champaign to sip on during the process and I saw several other patrons with water or wine. Also, my appointment was on Valentine’s Day, it was a very sweet touch for them to give each patron some flowers after our appointment. Overall very happy with the hair, service and overall ambience. I will be back to get it toned. Some opportunities for improvement: it would have been nice if Julie had asked how I want my hair styled. Not the biggest deal in the world, my hair looked great straight but I know the best effect of a balayage shows when it’s curled and I enjoy wearing my hair in curls anyways vs a blow out. I’m not sure if it would have cost me more to have it curled but with the grand total, it would have taken the same amount of time to curl and potentially better represent her work. Also, I wasn’t very informed about partial vs full balayage. When I had asked the receptionist on the phone she had explained her knowledge and I had scheduled for a partial balayage. But I guess we ended up doing a full balayage and I was made aware only when I asked why I was paying more than I had anticipated. Obviously I had no say in that at time of payment but I was never asked by Julie which one I wanted — I would’ve preferred an explanation from her on what the two mean and also a say. The price difference wasn’t huge so again not super problematic but it would have been nice to know.

Sofia is a magic worker. I’ve gone to quite a lot of places and gotten a lot of pretty bad haircuts and never felt the trust I have with her. She knows what I want and gives it to me and more. I only trust her with my hair. She is a gift sent from God to deliver great haircuts. Seriously in all the time I’ve known her, I’ve never left unsatisfied or feeling I’ve needed more. She’s the best.

I’ve been here twice, and both times Julie made my hair look amazing! The salon is beautiful and has a great laid-back vibe. Everyone is friendly and will even bring you free coffee or other drinks. Great service! I’ll definitely keep coming back here.

Went in for a Brazilian with Merenda and she was great! It was painful, of course, but Merenda was very pleasant and made me feel super comfortable! AND the table was the most comfortable waxing table I’ve ever laid on! Definitely going back! The salon itself was very well decorated and comforting too.

It’s so wonderful to find that ellensburg has a great hair salon/stylist. Stephanie all day every day! Yep, she is the business. I just moved to Eburg from Austin, Tx and was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a good place for fun and cute hair. I need someone with confidence and experience when I am coloring my hair(blonde). My last salon experience(not in Ellensburg) destroyed my hair so I had been nervous to color my hair again. Stephanie listened to what I wanted then made several suggestions and talked me through the whole process and together we decided to do a more natural looking balayage rather than foiling. I am really happy with the results and will make this my home salon :) Also the salon itself is a bright but relaxing environment in a nice loft space in downtown Ellensburg. Thanks Mangos! I will try to post a picture of my wonderfully blended blonde color. I am not sure about other prices for salons in Ellensburg, but I feel like the color/cut I received was a great value for the money spent especially for the quality of the service and the organic products they use. Also bonus points for having a bike rack!

Don’t let the entrance full you, once you get up that staircase, you are waking into a bright, happy, uuuber relaxing spa! You can do a one stop glam/relaxation day here… hair, nails, massage! I personally went for a massage with Erin. He was fantastic! I swear his hands are magic! Worked out a lot of tension I carry in my shoulders. I left there feeling totally relaxed and rejuvinated! Thanks!

Mango’s is my absolute favorite! The Staff: is amazing. They each took time to get to know me and very quickly learned what I was hoping for. They strive to make customers feel comfortable while receiving exactly what they want from their salon service. The Salon: the space itself has grown and expanded so much in the last couple of years. The atmosphere is artistic and tasteful. They offer a variety of artwork for purchase and support local artists by doing so. The Services: Stephanie is amazing! She has been doing my hair for two years now. As I am moving to the West side in a few weeks, I will still be driving to Ellensburg for my hair appointments. She has helped me decide on styles and colors and is patient even when I don’t have a clue what I want. My facial from Miranda was like the most relaxing thing in the world(might be a tie between Erin’s massage). Erin is one of the best massage therapists I have ever experienced. Hair, facial, massage– everything has been fabulous!

This is the place to get your hair & waxings done. The pricing isn’t too bad, and the service is amazing. Merenda, does the perfect job of waxing. I normally get brazilians done & it goes smoothly. The wax she uses is ordered from France & she is very patient & calm. She talks to you like a human being & makes you feel at home & very comfortable. She is the only gal I will trust to wax me. I also get my hair done. I will only trust a gal named Sofia. She does an excellent job. She also doesn’t beat around the bush & lets me know what needs to be done, such as a deep conditioning or split-end trim. Since I am part Asian, getting my hair bleached is difficult, but she does the perfect job. The price also has been the best in town. Mangoes is the only place I will go to for my beauty needs. The only thing they’re missing? Eyelash extensions.

The ladies who work here are so friendly. Like most of the comments below, they will help you achieve the haircut that compliments the shape of your face and hair color that coincides with your skin tone(I ALWAYS ask for my hairstylist’s suggestion before anything touches my hair). The gal who styles my hair is Sofia. She’s outgoing, has a super sweet personality, and knows how to take care of my hair. My boyfriend also gets his hair cut by her and she does a wonderful job! He’s gone to several places on the west side to get it cut, but they never seem to comprehend how to cut it the right way. For men, I would strongly recommend giving her a shot at cutting your hair. She will work with you to get the haircut you want.

Justina is a new stylist at Mango’s Salon, I saw her today to have bangs and layering cut into my hair, its so cute! My mom has been a stylist for 23+ years but has carpal tunnel in her cutting hand, so I don’t let her do my hair anymore because she is too shaky. Justina is great, she is the first person to cut my hair other than my mom over the course of 24 years and I will be going back to see her in 3 weeks!

I live in Seattle… and I drove an hour and a half to have Stephanie Castillo cut my hair. Yes… I drove that and back in one day because I LOVE what she does for me. Stephanie has been cutting my hair for over six years and I will continue to follow her around – she’s talented and does best when I just tell her to cut it. I trust her.
