01−14−16 Had the Shrimp Santorini. Mediterranean-ish shrimp scampi. It was okay but the olives became overbearing after a couple of bites. Would have been better if they had chopped them more & used less. Once Again – main meal was brought out in the middle of my salad. So the veggies & the garlic mashed potatoes(someone forgot to put garlic in them) were cold. Take them home to heat them up. Come on, Guys!!! We bragged all over town about you. Get it together. Service training. Thank you Theo for stopping by the tables.

This place was a great surprise… It’s kitschy exterior houses am excellent restaurant. I love fried oysters which were on an excellent salad — simple crisp fresh ingredients in the salad and oysters that were not too heavily breaded. My husband had a perfectly prepared medium rare ribeye and a baked sweet potato with a nice salad. All very reasonably priced and served well. We will definitely be back!

This place is about as good as it gets in this general area for seafood, which is kind of sad. Being from cajun country in Louisiana, I have yet to find anything even close or satisfying. The first time I ate here(over a year ago), it was delicious. I’ve eaten there twice recently and both times it was far from what I had a year ago. My fish was so thin, it was mostly breading. The popcorn or calabash shrimp tasted like it was frozen, not fresh. The restaurant it’s self is beautiful and well decorated.

Theos famous hot wings were great! Salad was par and the prime rib was pretty good. Courses came out timed perfect and friendly staff!

Decent choice of seafood and stake. Very appealing decorations especially if you have children with you. Nice staff. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of limited healthy choice.

Based on the bad reviews posted over the past several days we were hesitant to eat here. However there are very limited dining choices in Elkin so we thought we would give it a try. The décor is really interesting and different… especially for the area. Service was great and the food was very reasonably priced and tasted good. They brought hush puppies which are always my favorite and theirs were good. I had fried flounder and I rarely eat fried food but this was not greasy so that was a nice surprise. My husband had popcorn shrimp. He said it was pretty average but all in all we enjoyed it. I would eat there again. It’s a fabulous place to take the kids. I think they would really like it.

Pirates wouldn’t even eat here. My steak was prepared okay but everything else was terrible. Service couldn’t have been worse. Very stale dinner rolls. Wrong sides brought out at first. «baked» potatoes were just a steamed piece of garbage. Sour cream was spoiled. Shrimp wasn’t fried all the way. It was really gross.

I was surprised at how up-to date and clean the restaurant was upon setting foot inside. I was expecting a run down creeky barn that looked like a ship, but this was far better than I could hope for in a pirate themed building. The place is large, with tiered seating going up though the building. Everything is kept very clean, the bathroom were very nice with copper sinks and tile and the staff was helpful and friendly. Now for the food. The place had several different offering of surf and turf. I decided to go for the big dinner. «the Buccaneers Fried Seafood Feast» The thing was massive pile of fried sea creatures with a side of potato and coleslaw/apple. Creatures included; Clams, Oysters, Shrimp, scallops, and flounder. I normally can eat alot and I couldn’t finish this plate. Try pirates if you are going up or down i-77

I have wanted to stop here for four years now — but I’d always be booking it up or down I-77. Lucky for me, I found myself in Elkin, NC around dinner with no where to be. To the pirate ship! This place looks like an awesome pirate ship from the outside, and the décor on the inside doesn’t disappoint. Once you’re seated, they bring a bowl of hushpuppies, with tons of butter to dip them in. I ordered the Edward England, which was fried baby shrimp, fried deviled crab and fried whitefish also with french fries. FRIEDFOOD. Oh em gee. So much fried food. When you’re near Elkin, and have a chance to stop at Pirate’s Landing — its worth a stop.

Great change from the same all chain type of restaurants on I-77. Good meal at a family style restaurant and at a great price

As my wife and I drove down to my grandmother-in-law’s for the yearly Christmas celebration, we got hungry as we crossed into North Carolina. As we drove hoping to find a real sit-down restaurant after earlier fast food stops, I said«You know, we’ve never been to the pirate ship that’s a few exits ahead [on I-77].» My wife agreed, as I wondered if this was the right choice. Seafood is generally not cheap and often not fast. We pulled in and were rapidly seated by the friendly hostess. On the menu we were pleased to see that in addition to fried items, many items could be had broiled or blackened. Better yet, my initial fears were unfounded — this was an impressively inexpensive place to stop. My wife ordered the Mediterranean Flounder while I had the Seafood Creole. Our waitress quickly brought over hush puppies for us. I will say they are the best I’ve ever had… but I’ve lived in the North all my life. Our salads followed shortly(I enjoyed dipping hush puppies in the honey mustard dressing), and quickly came our main courses. Mine was nicely spicy for me – a bit too spicy for my wife — so be warned. I enjoyed the mix of items. My wife found the Mediterranean Flounder a very nice option to get at such a stop, and was happy about the high quality vegetables it included. Now, I can’t promise this is the restaurant you’re looking for — but I think we’ll stop again. Vegetarian Note: There isn’t much, but if you’re not vegan they have Pasta Alfredo, and they do have a salad and a few appetizers and sides that will work. Note: The map seems to show their mailing address; they’re right off of Interstate 77, though the access is a little twisty-turny.

Cute place for sure. Great for families and celebrating birthdays. As there isn’t much to choose in town, we found this place on Unilocal and decided to try it. Reasonably priced. Reminded us of Myrtle Beach, but without the huge buffet. Food was… OK…hubby was trying to be good with the broiled and stuffed fish. he said it was«ok» but his sweet baked potato was clearly overcooked and pulling away from the skin. I had the fried popcorn shrimp. Not too overpowering on the breading which was nice to see. Reasonable portion to the small. Had the garlic mashed potatoes and didn’t care for them as they had no flavor whatsoever. All in all we would probably go back if we are in the area, as slim pickin’s for places to eat around there.

Pirates Landing is a seafood/steak place in Elkin that benefits from its location right next to the interstate. The entire restaurant is pirate-themed, with lots of cannons, wheels, and nautical paraphernalia scattered throughout the restaurant — it’s definitely geared to be a family place. It reminds me a lot of many of the seafood places in Myrtle Beach. Pirates Landing makes no pretense of being a gourmet restaurant, so if that’s what you are looking for, you need to skip this place. The food is reasonably priced, and for the most part was OK. The high point of the meal were the hush puppies served up front, which came out hot and fresh, not too crunchy and not too mushy. The seafood was cooked properly but was in dire need of more seasoning — I had broiled stuffed flounder and both the fish and the crab stuffing were way too bland. The side dishes were a bit of a mess — my baked sweet potato looked like it had been microwaved instead of baked(and too long at that), and the steamed vegetables were mushy and erratically seasoned. The service was friendly and helpful but a little on the slow side, especially at the end of the meal. It’s a cut above the generic chain seafood places, but it has the potential to be so much more given the location and décor. Just a little more attention to the food would do wonders.

We stopped at Pirate’s Landing at 2:15 on Saturday for a late lunch. The fried oysters and shrimp were lightly breaded, cooked perfectly and delicious! The hush puppies, sweet potato, and slaw were all delicious. We shared a slice ot triple chocolate cake garnished with dollops of whipped cream. It was wonderful! This was our first time. Loved the pirate ship theme. We’ll be back.

On two visits to Pirate’s Landing, the white fish and shrimp were pretty good. Go before 6:00pm any day and get their«early bird» specials. White fish, flounder, fried oysters, chicken strips, soup and salad or popcorn shrimp for $ 4.95 each. Now that is a great deal. And you get your choice of baked potato, garlic mashed«taters», fries or baked sweet potato. The outside and inside of this restuarant is really decorated to match the«pirate boat» theme. And on both of my visits, the owner has come around to my table and made sure everything is okay. He definitely takes the extra steps to make sure the customers are happy.
