This has been one of my favorite restaurants for over a decade. My personal favorite is the Jalisco burrito but everything I’ve tried has been amazing love the rice and beans! The servers are always kind and it’s just a nice laid back quiet atmosphere.

A very average restaurant. The service is friendly and fast. The food taste mostly home made in small portions. The price is really really reasonable. However it did not wow. A decent lunch place if you are close and need a quick meal.

Went for lunch. Got chimichunga. Wasn’t very good. Chips were tortilla mixed with flour ones. Was a hair in chips. Nice man helped me but overall was not pleased. Will not go back. Many better choices in area.

Great Mexican food. I really like the flour tortilla chips and salsa. They are fast for to-go orders also.

First and last time going to this place. Every single person in the group, including myself, almost immediately got sick upon eating the food. We are all currently suffering from food poisoning.

Barely edible! I ordered the nachos, with all the fixings, guacamole, sour cream, cheese etc. When the food came out it was slightly cold and the meat on my nachos was very burnt and tasteless. My nachos were extremely greasy and gave me a bit of indigestion after eating them. The salsa they serve tastes like it came out of a can! I will never go here again. The only positive thing at this joint, are the prices, but the food is not quality or authentic. You’re getting what you pay for! GARBAGE.

What happened to this place? Hadn’t been here in a while, but my wife and I have always liked the flour tortilla chips and would come here every now and then just for those. But it seems like something has happened to this place and they just don’t care any more. The place is very small, but that’s no excuse for the way it looks which is shabby. The menu was new since we were there last, and it looks like they turned it into a taqueria style menu, although this place doesn’t have the feel of a taqueria at all. They now apparently charge for the flour chips, at least according to the menu. They did serve us a handful of complimentary flour chips, but we didn’t feel like we could ask for more without paying for them. I’ll bet we could have asked and they would have happily provided us with some flour chips for free, but I didn’t feel like even asking. Here are my observations about the food/drinks: Beer was not available. I don’t know why. They no longer offer fountain drinks. Soda comes in a can. The refrigerator with the canned soda was left open the entire time we were there. That can’t be good. The salsa tasted far too strong of cumin. Personal preference, but I didn’t like it. The chile relleno I ordered was burnt. I didn’t care enough to send it back. In all honesty, I think I just wanted to get done and get out of there. The guacamole was good, the grilled chicken in my tostada was good. That’s about it. My wife and I almost left after we were seated and before we ordered. It just didn’t seem like the same place. Sadly, there is no reason for us to ever go back. There are way too many Mexican restaurants in Elk Grove and they all are better than this place.

Gave them 3 chances and regretted each one… food is overpriced and nothing special! First time we went here with my hubby on a Saturday at 11am and ordered lunch, they charged us DINNER prices and claimed the portions were larger. Well they were definitely not large enough for the price we paid! Came back twice after, during the week due to my work being around the corner and still the same story, paid too much for nothing special.

Came here for lunch. Good value. Good service. My friend, who is a picky eater and has a delicate stomach, likes to eat at this restaurant — the food satisfies the taste buds. Lots of parking spaces. It shares the same parking lot with Walmart and Fuji sushi buffet. In the past I went to Fuji for lunch or dinner. I’ll have to add Casa Gomez as a lunch possibility.

I came here just to buy the flan. So this review is only about that transaction. The flan was decent. I like my flan to be dense, with almost the consistency of a cheesecake. The flan taste good, but I didn’t enjoy the consistency as much

UPDATE: COCKROACHES!(AGAIN). The restaurant was recently shut down for a week due to another cockroach infestation(15 of them in kitchen) on ¾/14(previous shutdown was 6÷22÷13). The health inspection report is publicly available at Sac County’s EMD homepage(Go to the county’s food facility inspections page( ) and search for Casa Gomez and click on «View Inspection Report– PDF» for March 4, 2014. COCKROACHES! Casa Gomez failed a food/health inspection on 6÷22÷13 due to several cockroaches in their kitchen, improper food prep, holes in the wall, among many other health concerns. I have gone here roughly a month ago and a few times before, but now I will never return again. Excerpt from report: MAJORVIOLATION: 1) Found a nymph cockroach under the back splash of the 2 compartment sink. Found 2 adult cockroaches under the prep sink. Found 3 dead cockroaches on a glue trap near the dish machine. Wash, rinse, sanitize all surfaces. Clean entire kitchen from top to bottom. Seal all holes in the wall.

GREATFOOD! Every single time! My family has been coming here since I was a baby! Everything on the menu is great! I’m not to sure what some of the other Unilocalers are complaining about when it comes to authenticity… cant get anymore traditional than having a Mexican mom in the kitchen! The sons aren’t bad to look at either. Excellent service! I love that they don’t need the distraction of an over decorated space, they just serve great food. Superb family owned business! BESTMEXICANFOODINELKGROVE! HANDSDOWN! Love it!

This is «okay» Mexican food. Saying it’s the best Mexican food in Elk Grove is not saying much. But it’s definitely not bad.

One of the best Mexican food in the Elk Grove area!!! My husband was craving for some Mexican food and since he didn’t want to drive down to South Sacramento to La Favorita Taqueria, we decided to try Casa Gomez. This is a fairly small restaurant and may look a little run down, but looks can be deceiving. We ordered the 2 item entrée(chicken chimichanga and chicken burrito) and the meat was tender and juicy with tons of flavor! The food may look small, but it definitely filled me up! Definitely a place I would come back again!
