Pupusas, Red Sangria and they’re open late even on Sunday’s are the only good things about this place. Don’t go starving for great Spanish food because you’ll be disappointed. I would go to a Cuban, or Dominican place first

Came here this past Saturday and started off the evening with the blue sangria which actually looked green. We also ordered the bean and cheese popusa and a pork one. The slaw was a little spicy but it was amazing! For my entrée I had the churasco with white rice and black beans. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Would go again!

Jeez how did we end up here and what a surprise! On the way to the airport. Lol This place won us over as it had a big parking lot. Food and service were amazing Two thumbs up

I was somewhat disappointed with the pupusas revueltas. I was there a few months ago and they were delicious, went there yesterday and they were not as cheesy as they used to be and they looked different. The rest of the good wasn’t too bad.

Awesome place! No joke I travel to El Salvador every year and my parents are Salvadorean and they make the BEST pupusas here that I’ve ever tried. Better than the ones in El Salvador! Not saying the ones on El Salvador aren’t good but they are so delicious here in Elizabeth NJ! I’ve been coming to this place since I was a baby and I’ve been traveling to El Salvador just as long and there’s no comparison these are definitely the best.

our seafood soup had sand in it. unapologetic manager came and basically told us that that’s how it is with seafood? no attempt at fixing the issue and was very intimidating. awful experience.

Sucks to start my first review like this but I’m on vacation and I stopped by this joint for some so called«authentic Salvadorian food» and this was by far the worst dining experience. I mean the food was extremely undercooked and I honestly wrote this review to vent the anger from the disrespect I received from the waiter. I had to bite my tongue. So here Food 1⁄10 Service even worse! −10÷10 I mean who doesn’t split a fucking check. Oh and did I mention we were last to be served while watching our same order go to somebody who arrived after us. A risk that should’ve never been taken. Thank you for reading and avoid this restaurant. For your sake…

Soup«de res» was delicious on point. Hubby wasn’t to thrill with the«Moro rice» oxtail was good. Place is huge but has changed a lot. Haven’t been here in years.

Umm the only thing good about this place was the sangria and pupusas! We were sitted right away and the first thing I noticed the table cloth was dirty so we sat in another table. We waited an hour for our pupupas con queso, We notice that the women waitresses would rather flirt with the male customers than attend to the other customers. The venue is pretty but like the other reviewer said Its not a «wow factor». I would definitely not come again!

We had an unbelievable amount of sand in our seafood soup. When we brought this issue up to management and were told that this was completely natural and always occurred. No refund. No apologies.

Pupusas were mediocre at best. They don’t serve you tap water(bottled only) and the curtido was bland. Quite disappointing for a local spot that seemed legit :(

Went last night and had the Picada which had lots of calamari and tostones. We also ordered the great pupusas mixtas. The service was… ehhhh… But wasn’t the worst I have ever had. The food came quickly and plentiful.

Pupusas is awesome… came here at the instance of a friend and am glad I came. They serve a red sauce that I thought was ‘nuclear hot’ but turned out not to be hot at all and provided a very nice flavoring.

I’ve been going here for Atleast 10 years and I love the food. I admit the service I not so great but I go for the food. They also have a nice little bar in the back for adults.

I have been coming here since I was a child. The service and food were great, but in the past couple of years they have started slacking. First off the prices have gone up, and the service down. The waiters always forgets something you ordered, or bring the food wrong. Pro: Buffet during the week 12 – 3, offer parking, Spanish speaking for my parents, Pupusas. Cons: flavorless food, bad service, high prices for certain items.

First of all let me say that I have been going to el salvadoreño for years. I loved it and recommended it to everyone… Until now. The service is HORRIBLE. The last three times I went there were only two tables(including mine) and two servers. The servers stayed in a corner and were much more focused on their personal conversations than taking our orders bringing out or food or even clearing up the table. I tried to call my server over but was completely ignored me until she decided she finally wanted to come over. And on top of the lack of interest, they just looked miserable to be there. Now the food. El salvadoreño is known for their pupusas, and honestly they really are the BEST pupusas that I have personally ever had. However, other items that I have tried from the menu have been very disappointing and tasteless. All in all, if there’s one thing to go here for, it’s the pupusas. But take them to go! Very sad, since this place was once one of my favorites.

Not my first time here but every time I go the food never ceases to amaze me !! The pupusas are the best ! And they have a delicious piña colada ! Plus the music on the weekend is really good. This place is perfect for families, a drink with a friend and even ending the night

I really wanted to like this place. From the minute I walked in I felt like I was in a different country. I usually like restaurants that give me that feel. Everyone spoke Spanish. In one dark room was the music room where a soccer game was playing on tv overhead and a live musician was playing on a piano. We chose the other room since it would be quieter for the baby. Service was very friendly though only one of the servers spoke English. Ordered pupusas… all 3 types. Mixed, cheese, and pork. The mixed was ok, the other two lacked flavor. Also I was under the impression that pupusas were supposed to come with some salsa sauce. Ours wasn’t. We also ordered the yuka frita con chicharron. Basically fried pork and potato. The taste was ok but the meat was very dry. I had read online that this dish was also supposed to come with some salsa roja sauce. It didn’t. My wife ordered the marascara seafood platter in garlic sauce. The thing was huge and included half a lobster, some fish and clams and mussels and squid. The taste was ok, not that great. We really appreciated it because of its sheer size. I had the ropa vieja steak. I had asked for it to be prepared medium rare but it came out well-done. Taste was good but a bit dry and salty. The sangria was very weak. Overall this place had very good prices and very gracious service. Food wasn’t that great, however. At least for the dishes that we ordered. A couple next to us ordered a fried whole fish that looked pretty tasty.

Came here with a friend because I wanted to squelch a craving for pupusas that I’ve had for forever I ordered 2 mixed pupusas, a order of chicharron, a pernil entrée and a virgin Pina Colada. The food was good, was not that thrilled with the chicharron, you can get better chicharron across the street at City Tavern. My friend was not hungry so all she ordered was a Pina Colada. She received the drink and took a sip but did not taste any alcohol, so she asked the waitress if the bartender can put a little more in, the waitress happily obliged and came back with the drink. When we received the bill, I noticed that they charged $ 7 for the extra alcohol. Needless to say my friend was pissed. Could the waitress have mentioned something about the extra charge? Sure. But we were mostly pissed because the drink itself was $ 7 and they charged her another $ 7 for whatever amount of alcohol that they put in there, which may have been a half a shot. Either way, I’d come back for the pupusas because those were yummy
