Very good, clean, and tasty! One of the best breakfast spots on the island. Wish we had found it sooner!

Save your appetite until you get to Elelele because the best burger in Hawaii is cooked at the Grinds Café! The friendly staff seated us in seconds and waited on us until we left. We ordered burgers, medium and they were cooked to perfection. If you are a burger connoisseur, you will be very satisfied. French fries seem to be rare on Kauai but the delicious potato chips were an excellent substitute. The iced tea was also noticeably delicious! It may not look like much from outside but inside its a charming old fashioned diner. While the food takes expensive, the prices were quite reasonable.

Stopped in for breakfast and we were not disappointed! We live on Oahu and this was the BEST Loco Moco I have EVER had!!! My husband ordered the Chicken Cutlet and Eggs and his chicken was AMAZING… Perfectly fried and seasoned. Our waitress was kind and warm spirited. We are here for another few days and already talking about going back.

Food is 3 stars. Not great but good. I had a BBQ pork sandwich. It was tasty but nothing special I had a bite of a pastrami sandwich. It was better than the pork. Chips served w/the sandwich were standard chips. I also had a bite of green salad w/seed dressing. It was a little sweet but had a nice taste. The dining area is all booths. Not so good for larger groups to sit together. Service, menu selection and atmosphere were 4 stars. Very friendly service. The décor is cute. They have a nice variety — hot and cold sandwiches, pizza, salads. We were here ~ 1:15 and they were still serving breakfast. They offered us to-go sodas

We have eaten there twice and both times we have been very pleased with the service and the food. We took our neighbors with us who had eaten there before and did not like it; however, this time they said it was much better and thathey would start eating there again. They must have a new cook. At any rate, give the a try.

Horrible service, no one greeted us or even glanced in our direction. Restaurant was full, which was fine, but no one offered a menu or a cup of coffee while we waited, or mentioned how long the wait may be. We left after 15 minutes

Great food! Great service. Hubby had the Portuguese sausage skillet and he said it was probably the best skillet meal he’s ever had. I had the veggie omelette w/potatoes and it was also great. I also had a frappé that was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area!

Really really bad customer service!!! It’s slow and the girl with multi– color hair was really unprofessional! If you don’t like your job don’t take it out on people

Overall I really enjoyed this place… I was sketchy in the beginning, being all 37weeks pregnant & all. food cravings need to be satisfied & they did it! I enjoyed my omelet & Nutella fruit bowl-their fruit was fresh & sweet!(Lots of places give sour strawberries & unripened bananas) I would like to eat here again soon Only Small downfall– they charge almost $ 4 for side gravy…

«Not so loco moco» — my husband got this. First few bites were good. He said he was glad he found this place. Then halfway thru it, hew couldn’t finish it and he always finished his food. He said it was too salty and saucY. Portuguese skillet with rice– this was mine. Again, the first few bites were food and I was content and then less than half way thru I couldn’t eat it anymore. Too many onions I was crunching on, too saltY. French toast– my husband went for the French toast as a dessert after his salty meal looking hopeful. That was more of a disappointment. The French toast just tasted like a loaf of bread without the syrup and needs a lot of it to mask the hint of salt in the bread. It didn’t taste like any French toast that we had expected. Maybe this was their style. I saw others people food and they look good. Maybe I’ll try something else next time.

Always a welcome staff and great food! We stop here anytime we are coming or going from the west side of Kauai. They have an awesome selection of breakfast food. They renovated the inside within the last two years and added a spectacular coffee bar. Don’t forget to try some espresso on your way out! They also have some great baked goods that never disappoint. The Pineapple Carrot Cake is the bomb!

Great food with large portions and friendly service. We had the pork skillet and a hash with pastrami for breakfast and both were fantastic.

Visited this eatery on Sunday September 62015. We ordered a swiss mushroom burger, a bbq burger, and a mini kalua pig and cabbage. I gave this place 2 stars because the kalua pig plate was edible. The bbq burger was severely under cooked, there was ants in the chips, and the swiss mushroom burger left a huge puddle of grease in the bottom of the basket in came in making the the chips soggy. The thing that I found odd was why the waitress didn’t bother asking why there was a pile of half cooked hamburger left in the basket with the soggy chips. The sad part was that I had eaten here several years ago and the food was excellent. I don’t know if it is different owners, but I got to say, that things have definitely taken a dramatic turn for the worse.

We had the french toast, cappuchino, red eye coffee, and a POG juice. All were very good, very tasty, the food was better than what we expected. Very fair price, and excellent service. At first we were kind of bummed that there were only 2 french toast on the order, without eghs or anything else, but it was very tasty and it was enough because the two pieces are big =] Thanks!

Surprisingly awesome. Great local food with some twists here and there. Location is pretty good. A great place to stop after a boat tour at port allen. They have inside and outside seating, which is nice.

We went here for breakfast. Hearty food and generous serving amounts. We got the kalua pig and spinach skillet with steamed rice and split it. Although my husband wished he had gotten his own because he liked it so much. The staff was super friendly.

Came across this place almost by accident as we were checking out the Kauai Coffee Company plantation. We needed a veggie sandwich and we needed it FAST!(Don’t mess with a hungry girl on vacation :) The place is an old fashioned diner, the kind my grandpa use to take me to. However they have a cute little patio area in the back to mix things up a bit. We landed on some breakfast sides… with the BEST sourdough toast ever. Take that San Francisco! A half papaya which was soft and sweet, just perfect! Also got two eggs which were cooked perfect! The Mr. Got the open face veggie sandwich which sounds«heavy» but it was just right for lunch. Score. We had two ice teas also which tasted very fresh and home brewed. The staff was beyond friendly and just having a good ‘ol time while working. You hiring? They also served beer for lunch(including local selections) and had a long list of coffee and tea drinks and a large case of tasty looking pastries. The only thing that could have been better would have been more veggie options(garden burger, more sandwiches). Overall a cute, yummy, warm and welcoming place.

I got the«not so loco moco» & it was delicious. My niece got the pancakes & they were so tasty! The only criticism I have is the male server we had. He was so cold at first. We were very friendly & we kept saying thank you, but he never once replied w/a «you’re welcome!» Wt??? This is professional courtesy 101. When we were almost ready to leave, he finally warmed up. Other than that we would definitely return!

Absolutely loved this place. Best brew coffee on the Island. Breakfast served all day. Tasty food & pastries all reasonably priced. Nice clean seating area inside and out. Staff was very polite & genuine. We drove by it a couple times and commented it was a cute place. Thank God we finally stopped on our last day on the island. Enjoy.

I always say…“I GETDAGRINDZ!” Well, maybe not today… I was on Kauai today, after finishing some work in the Hanapepe area, I decided to stop by this red shack of a restaurant called — «GRINDS». Hey, catchy name… how can you not want to go into a place like this? Upon walking in, I was greeted right away, and the clerk told me I could sit down where ever I wanted. I get seated and shortly after the waitress drops off a menu. It was still morning time, so I decided on some breakfast… Since I had a breakfast burrito in the Milwaukee airport recently, I was still thinking about a good breakfast burrito(I guess I wasn’t satisfied). Upon scanning the menu, BINGO! I see a «Breakfast Burrito» on the menu. I knew I had to get it, to satisfy my breakfast burrito cravings. This breakfast burrito had potatoes, egg, & your choice of meat(Sausage, Portuguese Sausage, Bacon, Spam), I chose the Portuguese Sausage for my meat, and a salsa sauce. Upon getting my breakfast burrito… I was thinking — «Hey, how come so small!» Geez for $ 9.00 bucks, you would at least kick it in a little, wouldn’t ya think? As I bit into it, I’m thinking — «Hey, how come so much potatoes?» «Where’s da meat?» Oh well, my quest will continue for the perfect Breakfast Burrito! But on the bright side… the coffee that they served here OUTSTANDING! If fact it was so good, I had me 3 cups! Total Damage $ 13.38 with tip…
