My husband and I received a gift card for two 50 minute massages at Body Spectrum for Christmas. YAY! I love massages!
Both of us could not wait for the massage to be over.
My husband said that his technician was very pokey. And although he asked her to not work on his feet, she spent a good ten minutes down there. His was supposed to be a relaxing massage. Afterwards, he needed Advil.
I opted for a deep tissue massage and was warned by the receptionist that my technician was very strong and I might need to ask him to go easy on me at times. «No problem,» I said, «I like strong!» Boy, would I come to regret those words. My technician spent most of the hour grinding his elbow into my bones. Not my muscles. My bones. Find the boney part of your shoulder blade. Go ahead, touch it. Now imagine someone’s elbow pushing down on it with all of their weight. I have bruises the next day. Seriously. Bruises. On my shoulder. My hips. And am generally achey all over. I asked him to be softer. He was. For two minutes. Then is was back to full elbow power! When my technician wasn’t whiddling away at my bones, he was poking his fingers into my back and giggling them around. Several times, I thought about faking that I wasn’t feeling well so that I could just leave. Looking back, I wish I would have. Did I mention that the room was chilly?
I was going to say something to the receptionist afterwards, but when I husband informed me that he hated his massage too I thought, «What’s the point? It’s not like we want to come back here.» If I hadn’t of had the gift card, and had the pay for the session myself, I probably would have said something.
I ended up tipping both technicians 20% because I work in the service industry and I think there’s a special place in hell for bad tippers.
I will say that everyone there was very pleasant and friendly, however I won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

BEST MASSAGE IN SOUTH BAY! Have been going to Spectrum for years. The best part about the club is the Spa — one of the BEST secrets in the South Bay. The technicians are AMAZING, and I always feel I get the best massage. It’s more like Physical Therapy as each technician is so well trained and experienced. The value is incredible especially when they run their pricing specials. But, always leave feeling so much better. BEST MASSAGE IN SOUTH BAY!

I came in here this past Thursday to treat myself to a little spa day. I started with a massage since I just had a great workout. Which the cool thing with the spa is you can use the spectrum club gym for free if you are having a service a great feature if you ask me. Then I had an amazing facial here and the esthetician was very knowledgeable in the product lines that they offered at the spa. Thank you for an amazing day and I most definitely will be back here.

The best money spent ever!
Called because I had a really bad back from too much exercise and the very helpful receptionist asked a series of good questions to make sure which therapist to set me up with. She suggested Mila and deep tissue massage.
Just had my session with Mila and I must say that this was one of the best massages ever. Price is fair and Mila is very talented.
This is definately something I would recommend for everybody.

Great and easy to get in and out after or before a workout

After specifically booking a deep tissue massage and asking for a strong massage therapist I was shown to the waiting room only to be greeted by a petite but very pleasant 66yrs old therapist who immediately informed me that she does not do deep tissue massage but rather a sports massage??? After some reassurance that she could help me I allowed the massage to go forward and the experience was pleasant but not satisfying and clearly not what I had requested. After paying for the massage and tipping the therapist $ 15 (it was not her mistake) I decided to speak to the manager who asked me why I did not just pay the dissatisfied customer rate? The same manager then told me that she’d moved my original booking (with a strong deep tissue therapist) only a few minutes before I’d arrived and thought that I’d be happy with the 66yrs old petite therapist? I am a service business owner and if my customers are not satisfied I won’t take their money, period… it blows my mind that the manager admitted that she made a mistake but she still took my money and refused to give me a complimentary treatment to make up for her error. I am further amazed that this place is so quick to offer a dissatified cutomer rate… I take it that they have a lot of dissatisfied customers! The worst part of the whole experience was the disgusting attitude of the manager who dismissed me like I was an irritating school boy (I am 35yrs old Manhattan Beach resident) who asked too many questions. I have been to Body Spectrum before and, only after this experience, did I remember that the last time I was in this spa this same manager was rude to another customer causing a huge scene at the front desk. In fairness, there are some good therapists but visiting this place is an absolute lottery… good luck… I won’t be taking my chances again but will rather go to Massage Envy or Equinox (both are within walking distance).

Virgina did it again I had a brow and lash tint and microdermabrasion! I love her forever! She is the BEST! :) I trust that people who look pretty will also have the knowledge to make me look pretty! And she also makes my skin so much healthier!

Dr. Stell has magical hands!!! I have been receiving chiropractic care from her and she is phenominal! The staff are all very friendly and attentive. I haven’t been able to take advantage of using the Spectrum Club’s facilities, but I will soon. I have appointments booked with her in the New Year and I can’t wait!

I love this spa! I also go to Spectrum, so it’s nice to have a «one stop shop».
The staff are all wonderful — my favorite in particular for facials/​waxing is Shannon. She is just delightful and SO good at what she does.
Prices are average for a spa and they often have good deals to take advantage of. There’s also a full retail space with reasonably priced products.

I signed up for the Spectrum Club and signed up for two massages. Pamela was my massage therapist and she was very pleasant. However, during the first session she became a bit too personal as far as the areas in which she was «massaging» and I was a tad uncomfortable. I thought it was my imagination and I was over-​reacting. I booked another massage with her and I was EXCEEDINGLY uncomfortable because the «massage» reached up into areas I KNOW should not be approached. In fact, I felt molested and experienced sleepless nights because it troubled me so much. I even asked a friend who is a massage therapist if what I experienced was «normal» procedure and she assured me it was not. I had two massages left, but I opted to lose the money and never return. I will never go back and I still cringe when I think about the experience.

Virginia for waxing and facials get 5 STARS — best in the world! I let myself have a facial after my monthly «torture». I always walk out feeling awesome!
The staff is super friendly and knows me, and are great! You can use the Spectrum facilities while you are there, although you do have to walk through the club.

I came here for my very first facial (ever!) and will definitely continue to come.
The staff is so nice and the atmosphere is very relaxing, overall it was an awesome experience.
I was helped by a wonderful woman named Virginia and will make sure to ask for her each time I come, she was super gentle and made me feel right at home.
Now, I just thought I was going to get a facial so I was surprised when she told me to undress and lay down on a massage table! What I ended up getting was a few awesome mini-​massages, legs, hands, feet and the most amazing facial treatment ever!
I had been stressing out about my skin because I’ve been getting a lot of random congestion just on my chin and she was very helpful by suggesting a different face wash. I bought the stuff she recommended and my face has been getting SO much clearer! I was truly amazed.
I plan on coming back in a few months for another facial with Virginia, perhaps as a birthday present to myself, and I will definitely make sure to stock up on more of the awesome Skinjectables line of products, which it seems are only sold at select places.
Can’t wait to come back!

I have been to the Body Spectrum in the Spectrum Club a handful of times. The variety of spa services provided are great. The bonus is that there is complimentary use of the facilities, which includes the gym, pool, etc. and very nice shower area. There is a towel service and even shampoo and soap, if you forget to bring it! Overall, this place is a hidden gem!

Virginia is an excellent aesthetician — Epicuren facials that make my skin look fantastic. GO Virginia! Can’t wait to come back :)

I’ve been very happy with the care & treatment I’ve received for my chronic back pain with Dr. Tracey Stell and massage therapist Mimi.
However, I did have one massage with Pamela, and was pretty unimpressed. She was pinchy and actually got a little too-​close-​for-​comfort during my session. I’ve had tons of massages, and never, ever, have I had an experience where I felt uncomfortable like this.
Anyways, stick with Mimi and Dr. Stell.
Onto the Botox — I’ve got a nasty frowny line, and have had it taken care of in the past with another doc — one visit, no problem. I went to see Dr. Russman there, and she wasn’t able to help me. I went in no less than four times for her to ‘touch up’ and inject me with more and more toxin… to no avail. She brought the drug rep in, and they wanted to blame it on the fact I got a flu shot a few months ago. What a waste of money. Won’t be back.
It’s hard to give this place a great rating — because of the good and bad service I’ve received here. It’s too hit or miss. When it’s good, it’s very good. But when it’s bad, it’s very bad.

Holiday is the best Brazilian waxer. She makes the process nearly painless.
